  1. From an outsider view requiring wired pads seems like a very reasonable compromise. When the aftermath opinion seemed to be "ban pads" I was really concerned. I know there are quite a few people that play regularly in the Beginner/Casual Night lobbies that either currently use pads or have used pads in the past before finally investing in a stick. I'd say they're a minority, but not an ignorable one. Having rules clearly posted for entrants that wireless pads are banned is fair. Perhaps as a last line of defense would it be possible to maybe keep a few (really cheap) wired pads on-site?
  2. HDKirin, DaisyFanJP, and Air0087JPN are our frequent experienced regulars. They're all in the Skype call and are willing to answer questions and/or give advice to new players!
  3. HEy! Sorry for not updating the thread very often. Don't worry though, these events are still going on every week! I host the lobby from 9 PM to 12 AM EDT on Wednesdays and Saturdays, barring any prior commitments. All you have to do is send me a messsage on PSN, TWitter, or Skype when we're playing and I'll send you an invite. We've got a pretty decent group of regulars now that are a bit above beginner level, but if you join in on the Skype call everyone is willing to answer questions or give tips if you want them.
  4. After my results yesterday I've gotta say I'm shocked with how well watching replays worked out. If you're picking up a suit, and have played with it a bit but just aren't feeling like you're playing it right, I can't recommend going and downloading high ranked replays enough. I learned so much about God Gundam and X2 that I would never have even attempted before watching them.
  5. The Beginner Night Shuffle Lobby will be starting up in a couple of hours! Get ready to try a new suit, or don't!
  6. We just wrapped up our first Beginner Night: Team Hold Edition and that was some of the most fun I've had with this game. I'm so excited to continue this event! We had a lot of Beginner Night regulars and a few new faces, and I'd love to see even more people come out for it. I know there was a pretty good amount of interest following SCR, so if you bought the game after seeing the tournament, please join us!
  7. I've updated the OP to reflect the new semiweekly format of this event. On Wednesdays the lobby will be Team Hold, while on Saturdays the lobby will be Team Shuffle.
  8. Of course, feel free to host one -- I may even hop in one for a bit. However, my attention would definitely not be all there hosting a lobby since I'll likely be focusing on watching the Top 8 instead.
  9. Sorry for the late notice, but this Saturday I won't be hosting an "official" Beginner Night. The primary reason is that this is right in the middle of the SoCal Regionals EXVSFB tournament. We'll be starting up the Wednesday events starting next week though!
  10. The lobby is going up! Send me a PSN message if you want in, and also on skype if you want to join the call. The stream will be up shortly.
  11. Work continues to be a marathon sprint of long days, but worry not! Beginner Night is still on for tonight, 2/22 at 9 PM EST!
  12. Alright! At the last minute, Beginner's Night is going to be showcased on Team Stickbug's stream! We're up and running, sog et in touch if you want in!
  13. Sorry it's been radio silence from me pretty much all week. I've been absolutely swamped with work-related things. However, those are starting to wrap up, and that means that (tentatively!) next week we're going to be moving to a semiweekly format. Rather than once a week, I'll be hosting a beginners lobby and stream twice a week: Wednesday and Saturday, 9 PM EST to 12 AM EST. I really feel like I've been getting better recently, and though I can't say I've the qualifications to coach anyone, I hope we'll all level up together.
  14. Thanks to everyone who showed up this week! This next week won't be the first semiweekly event, but hopefully the following week we'll be movnig to a Wednesday/Saturday twice a week format. Also, we apparently had a bit of salty message exchanging in the lobby tonight. I'd really like to avoid that. If you're getting upset in the lobby, please just leave without harassing anyone. That isn't the purpose of the beginner lobby.
