  1. Didnt watch EVO this year, but there was a side tournament for P4A, right? Any Chie players/videos to look for?
  2. Just go for Ragna, he is your generic swordfighter. No gimmicks, no complex mechanism, straight forward and easy to learn combos.
  3. Haha, it's 9AM where I am and I gotta work till 5PM :D I guess you wont be able to be online THAT long :D
  4. How I wish I was from your timezone, too :/ Anybody from Europe in here?
  5. Hey guys, I will add all of you when I get home I am rather new to fighters aswell. Bought BBCP on release day but never rly played it. Now I am 2 weeks into P4A, but this game lacks newer players. Still gotta decide on a main for BB, though :D
  6. I didnt notice him being a Chie player, in which case you are right. But in general, I would say: You can't learn much from a player that is far better than you. This is because he will just kill you with his super long combos and the only thing you can do is watch. A newer player on the other hand needs more combos to finish you off and therefore there is much more neutral play. Apart from that: Losing 30 matches in a row is not fun, as it is not rewarding. That being said: Dive, wanna teach me a thing or two about Chie?
  7. Hey, right now I am only searching for beginners. Started playing ~weeks ago and am still F- :D
  8. Okay, so what does it mean when it says "AA" in front of a combo? Checked the Notation-thread in the beginners subforum, but there was nothing about "AA". Also: There are so many combos in here. Which one would you recommend to learn first (midscreen, not counterhit-only, dmg focus)?
  9. Man, thats what I openend this thread for :D
  10. Thanks, I will look into this guide! I do have two PSN accounts (one for Europe and one for NA), so I don't care if it hits Europe at all :P And about the muscle memory: It still takes some time until it's out and I don't want to waive one of her most useful tools :D Another question: Are her challenges worth a look? Usually these contain unpractical or simply bad combos .:D edit: Oh and I tried the "thick throw" thing in training mode, without success. For some reason I always whiff the throw. What's the secret behind this? When EXACTLY do I have to input the throw command?
  11. Well, then you are definetely not the kind of beginner that suits my needs (but maybe someone elses :D). I am still struggling with basic execution, so I guess it would be boring for you :D
  12. Thanks a lot! I will try the air-turn thing, when I get home
  13. Hey, I started a thread dedicated to searching sparring partners. Make sure to post there aswell!
  14. Hey, so this thread kind of evolved into a place where less skilled people (like me) look for sparring partners. Apparently there are plenty of people who have abandoned P4A some time ago (or have never played it) and want to get in shape for P4U. This thread has an apropriate title and is posted in the regarding subforum, so I guess it could draw even more rookies in, who look for somebody to improve with together. So: If you are searching for some fun matches with people who are as unexperienced as you are, then go ahead and post your online ID here edit: Totally forgot to post mine, haha :D I am on PSN only: Okidoki_Sir edit2: I guess posting your main would be a good idea aswell, so that people can contact you if they are looking for specific matchups. Mine is Chie, obviously :D
  15. Hey, I know this answer is a few weeks old, but I do have the problem, you just mentioned. Could you tell me how you achieved consistent 9-jumps? My stick features a hayabusa stick lever, if this information helps :D
  16. Haha, okay, I will play around with it a little! Thanks! Trying this right now: What is the 236D at the end good for? To get away? Because I don't see any way to hit the enemy with this :D The rest works flawless though The C version works for me, so I guess I will stick to that :D Never mind, just did it :D Okay, another question about this: What's a good thing to do, when you finished the combo? I always block immediately, but I guess there are better things to do :D
  17. Okay, maybe it is the entire stick. I can't tell, because of this tiny pipe, which covers everything but the balltop. I think I will open it up and check out if it's the stick or the balltop.
  18. I see, but the incoming attack has to connect within the first 7 frames (aka startup), right? Whoopsie, looked at the frame data again and NOW I get, what you were saying! So I got 21 fames to catch the attack?
  19. Well, what you said made me kinda curious :D I am one of these players who lurked around like forever without actually achieving anything. I started several games only to put them down after a week. This left me having no executional skill and a basic understanding of theoretical stuff. I think I will give them a shot later today
  20. Thanks for pointing that out! The frame data says "Startup: 7, Active: 3,10" What exactly does this mean for the counter? Usually the startup the the period in which the move is visible but does not have a hitbox and active is the part where it does have a hitbox, right? But what about this one? Does that mean "It does nothing during the first 7 frames, then when you get hit in the next 3 frames it activates for a duration of 10 frames"? I see, thanks! So I can already input the next command during the startup? Thanks for the list of oki options! IAD is the thing which goes "diagonal jump forward and then quickly press forward once", right? But what is an air-turn? diagonal jump backwards and then airdash forwards? But how am I supposed to block when I already started my oki? Thanks for the answers again
  21. Thanks a lot for this indepth information! So Chies 236C is no DP, but A+B is? I think you got my question wrong. I know the notation elements "j." and "BB", but Megablues used ".BB" (dot B B) and I was unsure wether he was missing the j in front of the dot or if the dot was not supposed to be there OR if it was some notational element I still dont know. Thanks again for this explanation! But what is the advantage of throwing after successfully connecting a 5A? Wouldnt a normal combo be a way better option?
  22. Is it normal for a balltop to be rotatable? I bought a Hori Fighting Edge ~2 weeks ago and this is one of the things that really annoy me. Sometimes the balltop slips out of my hand during quartercycles. Note: I usually hold the stick with two fingers on one side of the lever and two fingers on the other side while the thumb is used to grab the balltop, together fith the index finger. Should I try another technique?
  23. Are the Airdash Academy videos worth the time? I am asking because I read some nasty things about them on reddit.
  24. Uhm, I think I am confused by the term "DP". This is means anti-air, right? But these moves usually have a longer startup than others (at least thats what I thought), so why is a DP able to punish one of the fastest moves? Yeah, I mash A+B until I get to 15 and smack the opponent up in the air with C. So what does ".BB" mean? Did you just forget the j in front of it, or is this some specific piece of notation? Also: Do I have to do any dashes inbetween the BBs and Cs? Do you have any advice on how to physically perform 214D 236236D on a fighing stick? I have tried this for over an hour, without success. So 5A and then checking the result: - Block: Do a throw - Normal hit confirm: Combo - Counter hit confirm: Combo even more Right? Also: Why do you call it a "thick" throw? Is there anything I can do to increase the damage of a throw? Because apparently there is no follow up or anything, so I never thought of throwing as a tool for dealing good damage. How do you exactly pull off your 5DD? Against the CPU the following way worked very well: Combo -> End with Sweep -> Mash D immediately -> Repeat. They always got hit. Then I tried the same thing with a human player I had some matches with yesterday and it only worked once. After that he always blocked Tomoe and my jump in :/ So these are a lot of questions again :D Thanks for all the answers so far
  25. Thanks again Still questions left though :D For some reason I am not able to use this properly. The first few hits are above the enemy and then he blocks :/ Could you explain this in a little more detail? To me it sounded like 5A -> dash -> attack while holding back. But I don't really understand how this is supposed to work. Speaking of All-Out, which follow up combo do you use? I always try: All-Out -> j.D -> dash -> j.B -> j.C -> ... but I am not able to connect the j.C. I think I got this combo from the Chie-combo-thread, so it SHOULD work :/
