  1. (Sorry If I'm not meant to make new topics for things like this, I'm new to using forums and the FAQ thread said it was for non-gameplay questions so I didn't want to ask it there) Hi! So I'm a Persona player and I'm kinda interested in Guilty Gear because I like old school thrash metal, heard some neat things about how the game works, and Potemkin looks like he was made for me to play him. I read the stickyed gameplay FAQ but I still have a few questions in relation to transitioning from games(you can answer with how it is in Xrd or +R) What is Dust? I know it's an attack but does it have any common properties (ie like D attacks in Persona often being "Gimmicky" or HP in SF usually being slow but strong) How tight is the input for DP/623, double qc/236236, and 360/63214789 motions in these games? I heard during Smash Bros Melee Finals at EVO 2013 that Guilty Gear has "Free Jazz" combos like Smash, basically, in Smash Combos are done off impulse and knowledge of the game rather then muscle memory from being in training mode. To what extent is this true in GG? I own AC+, how radically different is +R/Xrd from it and can me and my friends use it as a leeway into the series? How far is the tier gap in this game? Eventhubs says Potemkin is low tier in +R and SRK says Bridget is low tier, I'm interested in playing both, is the tier gap so high that there is a point where characters are so outclassed they are "unviable" to win with?
  2. I tried to join the Facebook group but my request didn't get accepted(maybe because my profile is newly made?) TuT. Anyway, do we have any weeklies/monthlies I should know about, specifically for Persona? I know Smash, Mahvel, and SF get weeklies, but I haven't seen anything for Persona(so jelly of the damn capcom and smash guys being able to find a local anywhere). If not I might organize one.
  3. http://www.mayflash.com/Products/PCUSB/PC042.html This is the stick I began with, It's good for what it's worth, then upgrade to a pro stick after a discount from EVO or CEO
  4. Thank you! I definitely felt like I was more successful and less worn out trying to input it with less power. I've seen in a lot of trial and combo videos, as well as live matches, people tend to seem super calm despite being in such an aggressive setting, and I've tried to emulate that as it seems like that "right" way I guess. 44 feels a bit awkward still, I'll try the index finger only thing but sometimes end up using 1 sometimes instead.
  5. I'm nearby, but I only play P4A sorry. I'd like to learn GG, I'm not sure if I wanna buy +R because Xrd, but I'd be down for playing just AC+ on PC if that's okay with you
  6. Hello! So I'm a mediocre P4A player and I'm not really on the level of a "noobie" or anything, but one thing I never got consistently in this game are supers and back dashes, it's costed quite a few games where I feel if the input registered I would have won. the first question I have is on supers, in other fighting games like SF or KOF I can do 236236/214214 just fine but in p4a, a lot of the time it doesn't register, even without the pressure of not actually being in a match I only get it 90% times in training mode (sorry for video quality, my capture card is like outdated by 8 years) The first input did the super but the other didn't, I think it has something to do with other inputs? Trying it just now calmly in training mode I got it nearly every time but sometimes when 7 or something is inputed before the first 2 it doesn't work? Idk as for 44(ie, backdashes), I can input them time I just have a had time doing in a way that doesn't feel awkward, I think it might be bad habit but I lay my hand out semi-flat and press 66 with a lot of force on the second 6. Because I can't do this as I place my hand on the left of my stick when I play I have used the following methods with little consistent success laying my other 4 fingers back and using only my thump(best one for me so far but only works like half the time) moving my hand to the other side of the stick and pushing it using my right hand graping the stick with my whole hand and pressing back I use this grip on my stick for reference, but I think I grasp it more gently then the guy in this picture So any help to offer? :3
