Eh, I don't hate Slayer too much, my real beef is with Eddie and Testament, who suck balls to fight against even if you play one of those rare non S tier characters who have so called 5-5's with them.

Wow thanks four, some good info there. Another thing I wanted to ask relates to MCing in general since I learned it not too long ago. Im trying to limit myself only to pressure strings that leave me at good advantage+good spacing, and since I don't generally want to get to level 3 anymore, being unable to toss a coin at the end of the string to reset the pressure hurts, especially thanks to Johnny's weird dash. Which strings should I generally use and MC at the end? 5k,c.5s,5HS MC isn't doing it for me right now because the spacing is erratic.

JOFan: I had the same thoughts about keeping your strings short and sweet to stay within a specific spot. 2HS is the dirtiest shit ever in this matchup, and it goes through a lot of JO's moves, not just coins, and of course it gatlings into 2D for a free skull, which is as bad as it can get in this matchup for JO. I swear this matchup feels like it becomes like 9-1 if he can land a damn skull. This matchup blows lol. I was thinking if you ever get a to lvl2, you can do a long blockstring cancelled into Pose LMF, and release it in time to catch a potential Testament 2H....I have to try it, but if this could work I can potentially land an enkasu combo to discourage TE's from always trying to interrupt JO's pressure with that bullshit ass poke... The only time I feel JO has any chance is if he gets a KND of any sort and works from there. JO gets zoned almost for free, coins become big no-no's because you eat a skull for every 2HS that the TE hits, and TE's pressure is automatic and easy to access from anywhere on the screen if he can pick up on a single mishap on your part. DB's are good here if you can get high enough above him to harass him with it. But yeah I agree with JOfan, It sounds like a good idea to keep the strings nice and short to stay at a specific space with him if you can get some pressure going. Before that though your going to have to do some serious tapdancing, there's no other way to put it.

Is it best to try and stay at Level 2 as much as possible? Lvl2LMF is a fantastic tool and gatling into it gives a good combo, but Im finding it difficult to apply sometimes because I usually get lvl3's inadvertedly by using coins as a lockdown tool, which I find is essential. I guess what Im saying is, Im finding it difficult to keep up my pressure/lockdown game going without coins, yet if I use them with a level 2 and they hit against impatient opponents Ill get moved to level 3 which isn't as useful on a practical level. What do other JO's do to keep the pressure going without losing their Level 2?

Thanks for the tips 4r5, I appreciate the imparted knowledge. You might be on to something with using long drawn out attacks, I guess I haven't played the match nearly enough to realize that my desire to keep her way out side with MF's/Long pokes is just a byproduct of naturally fearing her very easy and dangerous rush down. I can see that keeping her at a specific range with short pokes is better than keeping her way out with longwinded moves/pokes. I did want to point out that I personally have had some success with TK Ensenga. I agree it's risky, but I don't believe that disqualifies it as an option. It has a very large hitbox, and for a single move it's not glorious, but ok damage. It also sends her far away from you which can get her off your case for a bit. I don't whore this at all, I agree and I can potentially see where you can get toasted for using it, but once in a while it can be an unexpected tool... Another random piece of information: She can parry your coins, and as a result waste some of them =( Although I do wonder if there is a way to discourage this....I would have to know how long she's vulnerable for parrying and if I can slip in an attack in anticipation since the coin itself is detached....not sure since I haven't played Jam recently to remember the specifics of the parry animation/window.

I have an XBox 360 stick...the FS3 that came out just for VF5...this might be a stupid question, but is it even remotely possible to mod this stick? I would like to replace the buttons and change the adapter so it can connect to a PS2...Im not knowledgeable about these things so if this is impossible please let me know, but if it is how much would it cost?

Wow I really abhor this bitch. Her IAD is very fast and once she gets you better be prepared to guard for a very long time. I try to be as patient as I can when put on the defensive against Jam (which will happen in this matchup wether you like it or not). She can mash out a random 2S and hurt you bad if you can't wiggle out in time, and her dust is wicked fast so you can't even duck a lot (which is really bad because her simple 5k is low, fucking WHORE!). I try to zone her as best I can, but getting in for her is so fast and easy that she forces you to commit to defending a certain height with your mist finers. Try to see where she's coming in and if you guess wrong cancel the pose and block a shitload. Space/Zone her with MF's and Coins and good luck. On a side note, It's very risky to try to interrupt her or sneak in throws too cuz her damage is so big, easy and automatic that the risk reward is almost unbearable, Im even afraid to go for throws when I have the initiative because of 2S (never play this match on pad, it's impossible to wiggle out of 2S CH in time before her stupid easy combo). 5S is pretty good in this matchup, and so is 2D > Coin. Low MF defends against her special dash, and you can get the knockdown but if she IAD's it's trouble. TK Ensenga covers a wide range so I actually use this as a Keep out tool once in a while. DB is not so good in this matchup, or if it is I certainly haven't used it well nor have I had success. Even BLEED gets rolled by random Jams in Japan...sigh

This has probably been said before, but I think a seperate section for tournament Hype & Aftermath would be cool (see Tekken Zaibatsu for an example of what I mean).

Hey Redbeard, you mentioned this matchup as being 7-3 but I read somewhere over in the foundation that the matchup isn't much worse than 6-4 (although this could be assuming the Johnny is playing nearly immaculate). Is it really 7-3? Everyone else: Any other tips?

I have had a lot of success personally beating H Fuujin with 2D, and I get the KND to work with afterwards as well...

In my personal experience playing that match it's not bad at all for Johnny. Good Zoning with well spaced Mistfiners and pokes makes it difficult for her to dry summon projectiles. If you can push her into the corner or get close you can lock her down with some strings into coin pressure, you can keep control of the match. Tagging her with a flying KJ FRC does big damage to her weak vitality. I personally like this matchup.

Wow this thread took an undesirable turn into the realm of the unecessary =( Anyways, what is the latest tier list anyway? The first post has a list of very old tier lists and I can't find an updated list anywhere in the last 10 or so pages.

Im having difficulty finding top japanese slayers. Could anyone be gracious enough to identify the top Japanese slayers so that I can look them up on youtube for some match vids? Thx.
-
Which move CAN I use for this purpose? Anything with throw invincibility that's fast and comes out from crouch should be good enough to nullify this mixup just as everyone else with a Throw Invincible 2K does.

Does anyone know the official odds for this match? 6/4 Dizzy? Any good vids out there showcasing proper play of this matchup?
-
Which move should I use to option select his Fuujin mixups? Most characters who have a throw invulnerable 2K can wait to see if he's going for the Fuujin step into obvious throw attempt and stop it with a 2K, and block the low fuujin followup otherwise. Is Zappa's 2k good for this purpose?

Yeah that's the one I meant, typo.

Fafnir, 2D>5HS hj.IAD into whatever isn't working to well for me if I set the opponent to do an away slip recovery. They can recover in the opposite direction of HOS it seems that the 5HS will whiff and they will escape the combo. Am I just doing it wrong? Edit: I took off recovery and it seems that it's just a timing issue, if I hit them late they won't pop up after the hit which will let them escape, but now I notcies that If I hit the fafnir far the time it takes to dash usually makes it so I can't pop them up. Any advice?
