Chrono Phantasma Speculations/Theories [rules updated 10/14]

Not sure if I should be posting in speculation, but on the whole Kazu/Hazama issue In Chronophantasma Tager arcade Relius states he can recreate anything pretty much, I think he's said something else to that effect before in CS but can't remember where right now. Wouldn't it make more sense to remake the same body that worked last time, than something 'new'? Collapsed: ] [Relius: Hm, so you've run into that fascinating speciment of liquid seithr... Yes, I did in fact install him with an artificial causality weapon. What of it? [Tager] You what?! [Relius] It was also installed on No. 11 if I am not mistaken... Ha, I need only to observe something once in order to reproduce it. There's really no need for all the surprise. Since the BB world is kinda 'simulation'-esque, in Celica's arcade, the Relius there recognises and acknowledges himself as Relius, despite being in an 'isolated world'/simulation/whatever run by Kokonoe and created from virtual data that by her words, it seems he shouldn't have been able to speak in the first place. Kazuma dreamed of Terumi(Hazama?) and Ragna fighting, and can't tell whether it's himself or not. He also dreams of Terumi and Relius talking prior to the latter's time trip - possibly as a result of all info being stored in the Azure etc (and him being an artificial human in the first place), or from Terumi using him as a focal point / grounding for his presence in the world, or both. Collapsed: ] Clad in the flame of darkness, the large sword swung. A pitch black arm was stretching. It was just like a lump of hatred. "YES. HATE ME MORE. MORE, MOREMOREMOREMOREMOOOOORE!" An inner voice was screaming in pleasure. No, it was 'his' voice. No, it was my voice. I don't know anymore. Since when it was me and Since when it was not me? Since when it was a dream and Since when it was not a dream? I don't know. I don't know. Only greed grew larger, exploding from inside. Scary. That's what I thought. The weak me just before I vanish. With only his feeling, he seemed to be pulling himself off from the dream's scene, desperately closing his eyes. Wake up. Quickly wake up. This is a dream. It's only a dream... [/collapse: The main rebuttals for Kazuma=Hazama(+Terumi) were (I think): 1.) Trinity's line during the Six Heroes route, in which she says (in the english version, idk japanese): "Even during the Dark War, the man we called Terumi was fused to another body in order to fight for our cause... Different body, and different personality. Before merging with him, these people had completely different lives." 2.) Valk's: "The body he used in the Dark War was destroyed in the Boundary, like Lord Hakumen... But his mental state is the same that is was..." 3.) Hazama's: "Come now, that's on the house. The body I used during the Dark War... that was your buddy, right? Did I sound anything like him to you?" The body being destroyed can be explained by Relius remaking it (was his creation in the first place), as for Haz's line it seems probable that it's due to him recognising himself as Terumi (plus his eyes are open at the time). In Phase Shift 1, Kazuma recognised Terumi as his 'True Self', and willingly fuses/submits. In the Blazblue Material Collection translations in this forum, there's this: 'Hazama: A Captain in the NOL's intelligence department who issues orders to Noel and company. He is actually possessed and controlled by Terumi.' Kazu/Haz by this point probably isn't in a circumstance in which he would be able to view himself as Kazuma (and likely wouldn't want to in the first place), but instead as the other part of Yuuki Terumi. As for Trinity, she knows the original body was destroyed, and the Hazama of now doesn't act like the Kazuma she knew for years in Ishana, so her words are true as she views it. The latter bit of 'these people had completely different lives' is harder to come up with an explanation for however, and while she knew Kazuma pre-merge, I greatly doubt she knew 'Hazama' pre-merge, so seems a bit bizarre... Translation hiccup? Collapsed: ] "Listen, you need to get to the Azure by yourself. This is what you'd call a fate that can’t be avoided, got it?" Even if you don't get it, say that you do. With such atmosphere, Terumi whispered in low tone. Collapsed: : "For some time, something has drastically changed in Kazuma-san. It's like you got mixed up with something mysterious... You appear to always have a dark shadow beside you. It's like it's taking the Kazuma Kuvaru-san I know to a place of no return... I've always been uneasy." "The Kazuma Kuvaru... you know?" Kazuma briefly repeated Trinity's words. It was downright strange sounding. Kazuma Kuvaru. It was the only name representing himself; but it felt very empty and worthless now. He wondered if that was the 'place of no return' Trinity was talking about. [/collapse: [collapse=] There was but only single lump of shadow now. Although each other faced a different entity, there was a pretense that both had the same face and also the same individual. Two kinds of mucus that were put in the same vessel being slowly mixed by a thin stick; such feeling was surrounding Kazuma and Terumi. It was by no means disgusting. Rather, it was pleasant. Because it was the appearance he desired. Because it was the role he sought. (That's right. I've always...) Wished for it. About his true self. About the meaning of his existence. About the necessity to keep on living. And there were all here. If this didn't please him, then what would? Collapsed: ] Kazuma pulled his lips and made a smile. But frankly, he couldn't afford to laugh. A rough noise resounded as his feet grazed the floor when he stepped back. At this rate, it would truly be the end. He refused to accept it. Even though it was finally starting. (Just... what's starting?) Vaguely, Kazuma questioned himself. Wrong. Rather than Kazuma, it was Terumi who had something to start. No, whether it was Terumi or Kazuma, the line was awfully unclear. [/collapse: [collapse=] It was unknown whether what was coming up was the Boundary's power or the dwelling madness within his body. Hopelessly uplifting feeling whispered. ‘'——Now, kill. "Yes, I understood. I've understood everything. I've took it back. No.. more like it has returned. Isn't that right?" It was a really serene sensation. It was also supposed to be that way. Because now, at this very moment, the rightful soul went to the rightful place together. Completely established, without any slight of error. "... Hi, haha... haha... hyahhahahahaha." In Komao Mako's afterword for PS1 she refers him as green-haired man, rather than by name. Name might have made more sense if he was a being that was only appearing in the novel(s), and she needed to differentiate from Hazama. This is tenuous at best, but still can service as a possible indication, just nothing substantial. Collapsed: ] "Furthermore, did the front cover give you a vague hint about the leading man? Oh, just what am I hiding? I also really liked that green-haired man. From the beginning, I more or less was full of 'Oh gosh I'm going to write about him' kind of unpleasant excitement. But as for the green man... I wonder if he has a fairly characteristic way of speaking. I wrote and wrote, but the circumstances were astonishing like 'it's different, not like this...'. To tell you the truth, each time the green man started to talk at the second half, it'd give me a headache. Just what's with that person? There were many tiresome things, but it was sooo fun to write various kinds of the green man. [/collapse: In the Blazblue wikia, under Continuum Shift section (not CSII) (and no, I'm not asking you to take wiki information as gospel, just to consider), the character description for Hazama is as follows: [collapse=] Hazama Voiced by: Yūichi Nakamura (Japanese), Doug Erholtz (English) The series's main antagonist and one of the Six Heroes. Terumi is actually a ghost who merged with Kazuma Kuvaru and taken the alias of Hazama, a captain of the NOL's Intelligence Division. At first, he appears to be supervising Noel's actions to keep her in line, but he has a sinister hidden agenda. There's Amane's astral too. They included lines from Kazuma back in Platinum's CS story mode in her dream, which would imply at Kazuma having relevance beyond the novels. Trinity's whole "Yuuki... Terumi... Kazuma..!" line before going sploosh in the water. Terumi's unused lines refering to Kazuma. All of this can be said to insubstantial if you pick a single element, of course. In a BuruRaji, Sugita made a suggestion(?) about 'Master' (shishou or something) becoming Hazama no shishou - which Mori appeared to vehemently state was impossible, as 'He hates cats' (Once again, I don't understand Japanese, but the gist seemed pretty clear) and we get this picture: Collapsed: ] [/collapse: In Mori's twitter, april 28th 2013, there's also this picture along with "ハザマ?テルミ??誕生日おめでとう!?" (Hazama? Terumi? ? Happy birthday! ?) - which seems extremely likely to be Kazuma (hooded but with hair down). [collapse=] His latest Hazama picture, october 17th 2014, also seems to have developed a certain 'tousled' quality. [collapse=] TL;DR I think it's highly likely that Kazuma will be replacing Hazama next game, but you are free to believe whichever outlook you prefer. As for what he'll be after, probably the "True Blazblue" and Trinity-trolling I hope this made sense, if not I daresay blazblue broke my brain trying to understand the story in the first place.
