Whats up everyone, apparently it's been sooooo damn long since I posted regional match maker stuff on here, that it is all deleted now So just in case we have new blood in WNY hungry for matches in GG, BB, P4A or any other air dashers... here is some intel. No one around these parts seem to use forums anymore, we (as a community) moved to FB (yea I know, I hate that too) here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/buffalofgc/ -Read the OP in the FB group for a better idea of what is going on. we convene every Wednesday night 7pm-12am (ranbats) and Saturday 1pm-3am (tournies/casuals) night at here: www.gameonwny.com yes we hold tournies. yes we stream. yes we have ranbats. yes we travel. Just ask here or on FB groups or get at me on twitter (@chacha2damax), I will answer any and all questions about our scene for you. -cha cha

Hello, coming back to game from long hiatus. Even though it's only Sol and Ky- I wanna learn all the new facets of the game, but the menus in training mode are really hard to get through since there is virtually no english. Anyone available to translate or know of a site/video that already has someone explaining this? I am broadcasting on twitch (akazukinchacha), but kinda struggling to do any new shit. thanks for any info, cha cha

Hey everyone, Pre-Registration for Rumble in the Tundra 4 is finally up!! The website is kind of barebones at the moment, but the registration is working 100% and has instructions on how to add multiple game entries to your cart. We will be putting up player lists as soon as we start receiving a good amount of pre-registrations, brackets will be posted on the day of the event. Pre-reg will be cut off on 9/15. Other Updates for those who missed: - Smash Bros. Project M has been added as a main event. Soulcalibur 5 has been demoted to a side tourney during the Friday Night pre-party. The interest from the Smash community was real, and no one event batted any eye at SC5 being a main event, so there you have it. - Voting for Friday pre-party events is almost at a close, if you wanna see or propose a game to become a side tourney, please let us know! (here, via email, facebook, anywhere) So far it looks like a lock for- Windjammers (arcade) Quiz and Dragons three-man team 1CC contest SoulCalibur 5 Injustice GAU Smash Bros Melee Mario Party 5 or 7 Mario Kart 8 Raskulls Breaker’s Revenge.. and other mystery FGs! All Friday events will be can be signed up for on the day of the event. Times/Details will be posted a few weeks before Rumble happens. The Pre-reg link for main events, again, is here- http://rumble.watch Please show up and help us grow this tourney and test your skills against WNY’s best players! Or, if you think little of our scene, come try to get OUR MONEY!!

Proposed Money Matches: TBA Proposed Team Tournaments: TBA ============================================ About this tournament and who we are: After a 5 year hiatus we finally have the facilities to once again run large tournies and are resurrecting the annual tournament for our region: Rumble in the Tundra (For awhile we were not able to find a suitable venue after the first one was closed off, large enough to house a large quantity of players in, hence the dormancy). The aim here is to remind people that there can still be "large" regional tournaments that don’t need to take multiple days, won’t be hamstrung by numerous delays/inefficient management and that won’t gouge the players by costing a ton of money just to get in the door. This event is truly all about the players having a good time and seeking to highlight the fierce competition in our region! This is how it’s going down and what you can expect: - Pot bonuses worth traveling regionally for. - Responsible and accountable tournament staff members. - An extremely well organized and efficiently run bracket for each game. - Brackets that WILL start on time and END on time. - No hassles, 100% taken in from this event of the money goes right to the players. - A large local playerbase to compete against. - Space for everyone, no more cramping in small venues. (Food/Drink options are available on premises) 5 Years ago we had a huge turnout at RitT 3 despite almost no pre-hype, over 100 players showed up in an era before tourney populations exploded and players got sponsored often. We plan on an even better turnout this time, for what is sure to be an electric event! Please come out and enjoy yourself! Interested in Sponsorship or Helping out? We are providing all the pot bonuses, expenses and other fees out of our own pocket, because we enjoy our FGC and want to reward players willing to come out and support us. However, if you are interested in helping out or potentially sponsoring this or future events with us, we'd welcome any offers/assistance/inquiries! Please contact me through any medium that is convenient for you. We'd love to help out anyone that supports the FGC and sincerely appreciate any offers to help make this a more memorable event, no matter how small or trivial they may seem to you! We're not a major... and aren't pretending to be one. With future increased support from surrounding areas, perhaps we can look to one day becoming one. But for now, we stick to calling this a large 1-day event and hope that is good enough to garner interest for players within 'extended day trip' range :P Thanks for taking the time to read the above statements, and I hope to see many of you curious onlookers soon! I'll leave you with an example of the hypeness brought during RitT3's SF4 grand finals: http://youtu.be/8Z34BE_7ixU http://youtu.be/QYrq3y0eV5I (RitT3 Results Thread on SRK) ============================================ Questions??? If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to post up in this thread, if you would rather use PM- feel free to message me any time (I still monitor all FGC forums). If you’d rather email, please contact me at-rumbleinthetundra@gmail.com If you are interested in overnight accommodations and/or crash space availability, I will be updating that information closer to the event as well. Since this was announced so early, expect changes and update in the coming months, please check this thread regularly... -Cha Cha

Buffalo, NY: We bribe people with Food.
akazukin chacha replied to Celestein's topic in Offline Community
The GG scene is pretty dead in Buffalo. But I wouldn't mind picking it back up again. Most of our fighting game players in the area post here: http://shoryuken.com/f19/buffalo-ny-we-drink-tears-liquid-refreshment-224060/index184.html , it is the defact thread for Buffalo, despite it being SF-centric, we still have tekken and BB players post up there so we all can coordinate play nights, which are usually thursday and saturday (at UB- Baldy Hall) if you have any questions hit me up on xbl or in the SRK thread. -

Some Helpful tips to those attending the tourney: - Due to stipulations, we won't officially have access to the room (rm 145) until 12pm, though we may set up before them. Due to this we are forced to start tournies at 2pm. -LABEL YOUR STUFF if you are bringing extra set ups or even just an extra controller, it is best to label it so no one confuses it for their own, label it uniquely -Food options, there is a student commons food court outside the union, it has burger king,m subway, pizza, noodle shop and an asian/indian buffet, plus a convenience store. They are about a 3 minute walk BUT remember to be responsible about your time, we'd like to NOT have to search for people to be where they need to be when they are called. Prepare ahead, eat before you come so we can start quickly. -We have the room until 1am, I plan on using it until then, so that answers how long you can stay until if you want. There are cheap motels right outside campous if you need an emergency place to stay. -The room itself is in the middle of the union on the 1st floor, you access it by hallway, it is not out in the open, it is a series of rooms that are normally subdivided, but are combined for this, we will have way too much room. good luck and I hope to see you there!!!! cha cha

far as I can tell, this is a forum for both BlazBlue and GG, Blazblue is happening, GG has ran it's course in my area, sorry. Yet I'll run a GG tourney on the side if wee can get 16 ppl for it, but definitely not going to if we don't BB will be on ps3 Doesn't mean it won't be a dope ass tourney without GG, stop being all butt hurt over bb, gg players!

Location: Buffalo NY, READ MOAR:psyduck: By now most of you now know Buffalo is for real when it comes to fighting game communities, and that we have numerous underrated players and efficiently run tournaments. We aim to up the ante yet again. Bringing in a POT BONUS for SF4 and SC4!! (details below) With all the hype out there for crap ass tournaments run by people who don't have a clue on how to run shit, and let the inmates run the prison at their events, you can EXPECT better in Buffalo. There will be: - Huge pot bonuses, worth traveling for (will hopefully get larger by time of event) - An extremely well organized and run tournament for each game. - Brackets that WILL start on time and END on time - No hassle or deception, 100% of the money goes to the players - A large crowd, this tourney grows every time we hold it - Space for everyone, no more cramping in small ass venues I hope the BONUS + pot money will garner a little more travel interest from NYC, NJ, PA, OH, MA and MI. I want to see everyone possible make it, this will be an event to remember, please spread word and help this thing grow. So on to the details you actually CARE about: Date: Saturday, November 14, 2009 Location: University of Buffalo- Student Union Assembly Room (North Campus) http://www.buffalo.edu/community/visitor_directions_north.html For those coming off the 290, get off at the Millersport exit and take Millersport North to Flint Rd (should be first intersection, if Flint isnt the first intersection with a light then you are going the wrong way on Millersport) - Make a Left on Flint Rd - Proceed on Flint into UB campus - Make a right on Ausburger Rd (if the street isn't labled it's not Ausburger) - Proceed to the parking lots immediately to your left, but park towards their middle section (Jacobs Lot) - WALKING directions from here: - Head up the first walkway leading away from those parking lots (towards Jacobs Hall, passing it on your left) - Cross Putnam Rd and continue in between Baldy Hall and Lockwood Library through a walkway. - The Student Union is directly in front of you now, head to the first floor, make a left down the first hallway near the stairs and you will be at the assembly room (rm 145) http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&rlz=1C1CHNG_enUS323US323&q=150%20Student%20Union;%20Buffalo,%20NY%2014260-2100&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl Time: Doors open at 12pm for casuals, tourneys start at 2pm. (may be slight delay to any early birds as we have to wait for building maintenance to give the "ok" on the room when it is being set up, stupid University politics at work here) Venue Fee: FREE ===================================================== Tournaments (double elim): StreetFighter 4: $10 entry (1st-70%, 2nd-20%, 3rd- 10%) $300 POT BONUS added on top of pot!! Best 2 of 3 rounds, 2 of 3 matches PS3, all normal tournament rules apply. All characters legal. SoulCalibur 4: $10 entry (1st-70%, 2nd-20%, 3rd- 10%) $200 POT BONUS added on top of pot!! Best 3 of 5 rounds, 2 of 3 matches, default time/life/gauge PS3 only, all characters allowed except bonus Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion: $10 entry (1st-70%, 2nd-20%, 3rd- 10%) Best 3 of 5 rounds, 2 of 3 matches, default time/life/gauge PS3, no bannings as of yet. If game gets pushed back on release, we will hold a DR tourney instead BlazBlue: $10 entry (1st-70%, 2nd-20%, 3rd- 10%) ps3, best 2 of 3 rounds, 2 of 3 matches, default settings No character bans, easy special binds are banned (will be run secondary after first round of tournies is finished) Marvel vs Capcom 2: $10 Entry (winner takes all- pending on turnout if large, will have split) 2 of 3 matches, 360 version, standard tourney rules Bring your OWN sticks for this, because we know how marvel players treat them If players would prefer DC or PS3 version, please let me know. (Will be run last due to lowest interest generated, should have 360 casuals all day) So again, we had a huge turn out at RitT 2 despite no hype, over 70 players showed up. We plan on even MORE being here this time for that extra pot money. If you have any questions on crash space, directions, tourney ideas, side tourney ideas or anything, PLEASE ASK and keep this thread HYPED. The tourney will be run well and done in a timely fashion, all you have to do is- SHOW UP and STOP TALKIN MESS FROM BEHIND THAT KEYBOARD. see you soon! cha cha
