  1. I'll be recording matches of Guilty Gear this Thursday night at FFA. If you want to see yourself on Youtube, that's the time to play! Don't forget we've also got a tournament for GG&BB this Sunday! P.S. Friday night I'll be recording Melty Blood casuals.
  2. Idk, I just might lose harder! I'll be recording matches on the Guilty Gear machine this Thursday. If you want to see yourself up on Youtube kickin' ass, that's the time to play! I'll also be recording Melty Blood on Friday night. MB has seriously been picking up, we had about 8 people here last Friday for casuals.
  3. Yes, I pushed back the tournament to the week after (6/19). The GG/BB tournament will still happen on 9/26!
  4. Yeah, I've got it. I'll bring it on Thurs.
  5. Grats to Bond for BB, and Shin for GG. I posted up the results on the website, as well as the tournament thread on dustloop. Videos should be coming up shortly. Don't forget to show up for Thursday casuals! I'll be bringing BBCS2 for the PS3 (we are working on getting cabs for CS2 arcade, but it's going to take some time).
  6. Tournament results are up on the website: http://www.ffa-united.com/tournaments/results/ I'll post them up on this thread soon; going to bed for now! Videos should be up on Tues, but no promises. Congrats to Bond for taking BB, and Shin for taking GG!
  7. GGs last night to MARC and ShinATProof!
  8. I'll probably get there by 3pm and have it set-up soon after.
  9. I'll be down for casuals tonight, and I'm bringing CS2 on PS3. Someone bring a controller!
  10. Gettin' hype! Hope to see you guys there for the tournament! Also, anybody live near Glendale? I know someone who might need a ride to the tournament.
  11. Shout-outs to everyone I played at FFA last night in GG/BB/MK9/MB! There's a new guys who showed up for GG that I've never seen before. His name's Takaya and he's an exchange student from Japan. He's a really good player, and even went to SBO for GG. Hope to see you guys for this weekend's tournament! I've also updated a lot of the FFA (FFA-United.com) website, mostly in the tournament section.
  12. Aye, 5PM. Links to tournament posts: Dustloop FFA-United.com
  13. It's always been bring your own stick, lol. Please bring in your own sticks! I've just been bringing my own stick and letting people use mine.
  14. No, it will be on Sunday, May 29th. This week will consist of Guilty Gear Accent Core and BlazBlue Continuum Shift II. Both at 5pm.
  15. AA PS2 -> AACC is far more similar than AA arcade -> AA PS2 The only big changes are graphical, and air throws are tweaked a bit. Tbh, I didn't even notice most of the changes to my characters until I started searching for them. A few combos don't quite link the same way, a few things have slightly more/less recovery, some attacks have more/less proration, minor things like that. The big point is that there's no new characters, no new moves, and no new system mechanic features from AA PS2. Which isn't something I'm complaining about. The arcade needed a Melty Blood to at least match the PS2 version. This was also their first time using the Sega Ringwide board, so they wanted to test certain things graphically and make sure everything worked with the new hardware. Since they were making a new version they might as well have tweaked some things that caught their eye from the PS2 version, but they weren't really intending to make it a big update (But from AA Arcade to CC it's a huge update!).
  16. Realistically, I don't think you could get 20 regulars for MBAACC. MB is such a small niche game, and it doesn't appeal towards any SF4 players whatsoever. It would be incredibly difficult to build a scene, especially for an up and coming arcade. I would say, get Guilty Gear and BlazBlue CS2. If those scenes start to pick up I would consider MB, but not until v1.05 comes out. Right now there's little appeal for Current Code because it is so similar to the PS2 version. The MBAA scene has been underground console based for a long time, and it's going to take a little while before console players will crawl out of the woodwork. We've got MBAACC at the arcade I work at; we've got a good scene for GG and BB, and we had Act Cadenza B for a long time. I can confidently say that we don't have 20 regulars playing the game, maybe 10 players, but the rest are people I see who look at the game interestedly whom I teach. For us it's going to be a slow process until v1.05 comes out, but I'm working on it. There's cheaper, less risky fighting games out there that you could focus on. A new arcade can't afford to take big risks yet, they need to start up with the popular stuff, learn what kind of profit the industry will give for what they've got (which is usually much smaller than any owner initially thinks), and then once you start turning a profit go for some riskier titles. It's very important that an owner gets a feel for his industry's profit margin before he goes all gung-ho. Right now the economy is not good for arcades, so you kind of need to watch for every crack you step on. Even excluding the popular expensive games (like Super Street Fighter 4 and Tekken 6:BR), there's a ton of choices that you could pick for your price margin. In terms of pricing: Third Strike is about 5% the cost of Current Code Guilty Gear Accent Core is about 20% the cost of Current Code Arcana Heart 3 is about 40% the cost of Current Code BlazBlue CS2 is about the same price as Current Code King of Fighters XIII is about the same price as Current Code All of these are more likely to be more popular, and still be cheaper or the same price as CC. As much as I love Melty Blood, I would highly recommend not getting it for your arcade unless you have some sort of pre-existing fanbase. I know that arcades shouldn't be about making huge profits, and that's not what I'm talking about, right now it's very difficult for arcades to even stay in business, let alone make bank, so an arcade has to be very cautious about all of their purchases. Good luck! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about running an arcade.
  17. There's usually a bunch of Guilty players at FFA on Friday nights. I'll bring my CS2 for PS3, as well, just bring a stick and we can play. We're holding a BBCS2/GGAC tournament on May 29th, too, fyi.
  18. Lol, no. We're more likely to get AH3 than Aquapazza.
  19. GGs to everyone at FFA last night, especially that Slayer player. Also, GGs to everyone in Melty Blood, I've been practicing that game non-stop since we got the newest version. Our BlazBlue is down temporarily. We're working on fixing it, and it will be back up soon. @Mighty: Yeah we meet every thursday. I bring in my Arcana Heart 3, and we all play Guilty Gear, Melty Blood, and BlazBlue. @Wild Wallice: How did you like your first trip to FFA? We just got 2 more stations for SSF4:AE (making a total of 8, but one of them is temporarily down, making 7 for now).
  20. Meeting some other GG players at FFA tomorrow. Thursday casuals!
  21. New format! First page has been updated, check it out! The next tournament will be Guilty Gear and BlazBlue CS2, and it will start on May 29th, both games at 5pm! Tell your friends, and anyone you know who plays either game. Let's make this huge!
  22. Tournament today! Get hype!
  23. I've been getting a bunch of responses from talking to people personally and through PMs. It's mostly positive for the new changes, but there's been some concerns. Mostly, that we might not get enough people for Arcana and Melty, or that the Guilty players wouldn't get exposed to those games. Addressing that, here's my take on it: Arcana Heart 3 has just been localized and released, so I'm hoping that more people will get into it (If PSN can get back up and running >.>). I've been talking to some people over at homingcancel.com, who mostly live pretty far away, and I think more people would be interested in coming if it didn't happen as often. A couple people there have said that they like the idea of the tournaments being at 5pm and once a month. As for Melty Blood, a lot of people have been getting into it since we've gotten the arcade cabinet. I was just playing Numakie last night, known for getting in 8th place at Evo. When I started Melty Blood tournaments a long time ago, we had a bunch of famous Melty players (like HF-Blade, and Xie [who is still a regular for tournaments]). I think most players would be up for driving an hour to get to FFA if they only had to do it once a month. Guilty Gear I'm not worried about, lol. It's going to do well no matter what we do. BlazBlue is getting ready to pick up again. CS2 is coming out mid-May, along with Platinum. Hopefully these changes will boost attendance. Bigger tournaments are more fun, you get to meet more players, and (if you win) it's more rewarding! So let's try this out and see what happens. As for those of you who live nearby and would be up for showing up to both Guilty/BlazBlue and Arcana/Melty, the Sunday tournaments would still be a great day to play casual matches in the games that we're not running tournaments for. This can help bring in new interested players for the other games as well, so players would still be exposed to the other games during the other tournaments. I won't completely decide until after I've talked to a lot more people during Sunday's tournament. P.S. I'll also probably reset the best of characters list when we start this.
  24. So I was thinking about a reformat of our tournaments. Let me know what you guys think: We run tournaments every other week, but the games change. All games would start at 5pm. Example: Week 1: Guilty Gear & BlazBlue Week 3: Arcana Heart & Melty Blood Week 5: Guilty Gear & BlazBlue Week 7: Arcana Heart & Melty Blood etc. I think that having tournaments for each game less frequently, and at the better time of 5pm, would help attendance for each game. With fewer games per tournament, it would be less costly for those players who enter everything. And for those players who only enter one or two games, it would be cheaper as well, since you'd only be entering those tournaments once every 4 weeks. Because of this potential increase in attendance, as well as the tournaments being less costly, we could feasibly up the price on the tournaments, which would yield bigger pots. What I would consider for the new pricing would be: Guilty Gear: $5 entry, plus putting quarters in the machine. BlazBlue: $7 entry: $5 pot, $2 house Arcana Heart: $5 entry: $3 pot, $2 house Melty Blood: $5 entry, plus putting quarters in the machine. Let me know what you guys think. This would not apply to MvC3. I might work something else out there, but the MvC3 tournaments are practically independent of these. The May 1st tournament will continue to go as planned, if we implemented these changes, they wouldn't start until May 15th.
