[CP] Azrael vs. Valkenhayn Match-up Discussion

I didn't do anything wrong. Not a lot I wanna say about this match up since I play it a lot. I guess I'll go over simple stuff. IB beast cannon and if he stays still or move around then take advantage of the fresh air. Dumb stuff like wolf transforming of 236A/236C/double kick thing should be met with IB and great prejudice. Choice of buttons are fun too, 5A/5B/5C/2C (the hard wall of no) and gustav are fun for killing bad bad wolf. Sentinel is fine on wake up sometime but don't be predictable Valk has ways of making this not a thing to worry about. If Valk plays ground game you can do simple stuff if he is looking for typical Azrael stuff. (GUSTAV) I found drive to be ok at shutting him out, 5D/6D are swag and huge, be more wary about using 6D since its slow. 5C is good for ground stuff, he has to be at a certain range to make you pay for it. Important thing: Do not be a idiot in this match up, I promise any idiocy will be met with valk shutting you out in neutral. Hardest part? Hmm catching Valk and making him not use 6A. 6A beats: 5BB/5C/6C/5D/6D I suggest you keep him from thinking about it with lows. Hmm anything else? Yeah saying it again, be really smart and play neutral well and you will be rewarded. One more thing! growler j.C shut up its reactable do it. One more thing!! Make him use lots of wolf meter! -
Things you should do: Do not give bullet any room for heating up, stay in mid range here, she can't do much about you here. If you do get knocked down and she goes for safe jump/hard call out instead of 2Aing the delay tech do a forward roll, she can't do anything to stop you. If she does get a heat up then play keep away and always keep away or block the drive, make her lose heat levels. Things you don't do: Don't try to compete with j.C, you will lose. Advise against stand up blocking in some cases since she has a command grab that only grabs standing. Don't be predictable approaching her from the air, 5A, 6B, and AA grab too good.

I am an Azrael player but I touch tager to see how he functions, see how his changes effect him first hand. It's my job to do so.

Match up is fine, Jin doesn't have anything that is really threatening, Jump in's can be answered with 5A/5B/6B His pressure isn't scary midscreen, air normals are fine, ground game isn't that bad either 5C can lose to our 5A/5B. 5C makes it easy to shut down simple run in's, and gustav is a proper answer to him landing, 6C even handles his jump out's proper. Things to be mindful of? Ice car is a low, IB it and punish. 5C>2D can mess us up if we are antsy, you can surprisingly enough IB the 5C and growler/dash forward 5A him. Projectiles are food for growler please eat them. In short be very proactive with Jin get into mid range and start from there. Once you hit him its over.

Plat items: Hammer its cute and guard crushes, also safe on block. Cat Hammer is cute but hits far, iirc its a instant overhead if tiger kneed, block it and gustav in free, if she is grounded then IB it and move in, make her use those items. Frying pan, annoying and dangerous, is a instant overhead if tiger kneed, not much a threat in neutral, deal with her normally. Baseball bat, -7 1 button DP, play cautiously around this, this move can end your pressure pretty free. Kitty missiles: growler Bombs: growler Present: annoying dash growler can work on them other wise super jump over them. Install present: I'm sorry...I AM SO SORRY! (dash growler if possible)

Ok my thoughts on CP 1.1 Tager. 5A/2 is really bad we can get get anything off of it really, before we where able to do things like 5A>5B>5C>6A>3C. Route gone. Now we are just stuck with 5A>5B>3C>gadget. It also kills our corner routes too. Hate this change a lot, makes hitting with 5A less rewarding. Gadget change is balls too, now if you sucked at hard reading then now you got no choice but to get better at it. (honestly you guys should be decent at it now, its been 4 YEARS!) Backdash change is the worse. Instead of making a read and calling people out and punishing, you can only use it to punish specific things, its not quite the end of the world but it does make room for your opponent to get away with sloppiness. 2D change is cool, means when we whiff it we don't always die half the time. j.2C change was a change that was needed. Addendum, I can't play this version of Tager, too much work for bleh reward. I think he's definitely harder to play to win with.

FYI if the Combo doesn't work well on Hakumen don't expect much success at Hazama and Terumi either. They have weird hitboxes afterall. Also about compiling the combos in the first post. I will do something about it. I've just been out of it. Have no fear if I don't get to it immediately I will make sure Brice get to it. PS: OD Drives are good for mid combo magnetism and stalling out for spark. Sadly meter prorates bad by the time you wanna use MTW spark. I'll work the science out later.
