  1. Aww yes time for shoutouts! Shoutouts to Zeero for being so scared of Tager I actually got a point off ya! Shoutouts to Kousaka for having the best stick ever, the submarine commander. Also just wiping the floor with me in general, I also don`t know enough about ara to not know about his teleport lol. Shoutouts to archling for having some of the best footsies I've seen in a while. I had no chance against those 5b's I was getting pretty frustrated, I need ragna's 5b again D: Shoutouts to Brian for DOUBLE 720 HELL YEAH! You are just a better tager hands down, but thanks for the best tager mirror I've ever played in a ranked match Shoutouts to K2 for telling it how it is that I shouldn't play tager and should play ragna. You are right, and I will I just hadn't learned a single combo or anything (zeero tells me 5b5c hells fang all the way to the top lol) Shoutouts to Sapphire for only needing X-factor and one character to win games. Shoutouts to X-factor for being the best thing to yell at people playing. Shoutouts to Tim for dashing into my 720. Seriously, I couldn't have done it without your help :P Shoutouts to Julien for having the most unreadable rachel ever. I can't seem to get a hold of you, I think if we played another you would have won. (shoutouts to me for being whitest tager [tied with tofu] alive) Shoutouts to diobrando for being the unluckiest guy ever. You would beat me 9/10, but everything went wrong for you and I feel bad Shoutouts to dawnbringer for showing me I'm a scrub and need to do more research as to what opponents can do. I definitely acted like an idiot in that match :O Shoutouts to Roldy for not getting a chance to do any of your awesome tricks. I basically guessed right every time, and tager does well when that happens :| Shoutouts to kumori for repping bottom tiers with me. Bottom two! I'll be playing ragna again though, so will bottom three be ok :P? Shoutouts to kyl for my free points. Thanks dude. Valk matchup helped me vs zeero too, thanks for that as well! Shoutouts to poiyo for counterhit 5c > combo, wow I ate it so many times. Apparently my fellow team cambridge bros did too :P Shoutouts to Leo7 for his FANCY COMBOS, they have their own girlfriends. Sorry if I gave you a bad start dude D: Shoutouts to g0th1k4 for showing me a different way to play ragna when watching you play others. I really like your pressure without any meter, and utilizing it defensively to get your momentum back. Also zeero's stick isn't good enough for you :P? Shoutouts to Akuun for brutalizing me. I got denied, and it felt like CT for the last bit, you've got great stuff. Someone maybe said you should learn something from Tim, but apparently not for me, maybe it's the other way around :O Shoutouts to Steve for also brutalizing me. I had no idea what to do against makoto, I ate crossups like they were baconators D: Shoutouts to kellfire for never throwing a single DP against tager. Not one. Even if you lost you get huge respect for being able to have such patience... even if it didn't help you against tager :O Shoutouts to Dylan for always impressing me with such great reactions, pokes, and footsies. Now you just have to learn, I dunno, a combo :P Get some practice dude, and we will go all the way to the top! Shoutouts to Luckee for hurting your eyes watching a spreadsheet all day! I hope you get some kind of compensation, but even still thanks for all your help! Thanks to everyone who brought equipment (and whoever brought the water, thanks for that :D), and everyone who showed up. Everyone who didn't - I'll catch ya next time... with some burger king whoppers >:D
  2. From what I understand it is like so: The nesica system is a device that connects to an internet hub, somewhere in japan. In order to use the nesica system, you must be in japan, or have a japan IP address (not sure if it bans you if you don't or something). It also requires a fiber-optic cable as compared to normal, not impossible but less common around here. After that, the nesica system has an interesting way of working. It downloads the game, instead of merely buying a board with the game on it. This means you actually have to have the internet connection, otherwise you won't even get the game. So no easy workarounds for getting the game on a dummy network. After that, the game charges 50 cents or yen or something every time the game is played. This is to counter-balance the fact that you just download the game (source for that? not 100% sure the game is "free" when just downloading it). So even if the boss made it 75 cents, the profits would be much lower than a 50 cent bbcs1. That doesn't mean the nesica is free though, you would still have to buy the device to begin with. The only saving grace would be that if there were more games, you could save on them that way, although this doesn't change the steep cost for us. Most of these problems are avoided if you are in japan, and it almost seems like a good idea. Speculation says that if it is connecting to the internet or some other device(s), it could lag or slow down the framerate at inopportune moments, causing frustration. Somebody said they had a bug where every time they won the machine had to be restarted? (On the plus side the game restarts really fast due to it's storage nature, like 30 seconds and good to go again). In terms of what nice things it does, it can save your info and PSR and what not, matchups and stuff. It also allows download content in an arcade setting, which means possible patches and other goodies (colours or announcers, etc). These are good intentions, but we are not in japan, and we may not even be able to get these things anyways. These are my understandings of the nesica system, if I have omitted any information or erred in any way, feel free to correct me because I am by no means an expert, this is just what I've seen from others' accounts.
  3. http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12249672 25:15... this is the greatest combo I have ever seen. Why doesn't the boss put this out at gety, this is amazing. Never have to worry about it getting outdated either :3
  4. Fuck BB, fuck GG, fuck MB A's and C's and A's and C's, fuck AH3, fuck SSF4, fuck HNK, fuck everything else. This game; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt6uFbAGYac (please don't fuck this game up D:)
  5. If it blackbeats on the ground bounce, not any time. This usually happens when ragna is higher than he should be in relation when doing the BE.
  6. You can do that combo without the 6A and instead just do 6C wait (or dc it, your choice on range) sjc and then jC jD jc jC and continue from there into double. If you wanted a little more lifegain or whatever. That combo I feel is necessary to have in your arsenal if you want to do well as ragna, I have seen many times where if someone knew that combo they would have won the round, but instead just did hell's fang followup.
  7. Thanks K2, you see the reason it's like that because throughout all history of team cambridge, I played a lot of grapplers. Thus Kyle and Kumori always mash buttons and I had to block/think about what I was doing D: I've found the fakeouts and mindgames up my ragna's success rates a lot, and it makes the game feel more like fighting against a player, not just the character. I still can't believe how you do so well with rachel, she never feels low tier when you are playing... just waiting for the pain train in CS2 :O Also you break more throws than the japanese, everytime I am like "nah he won't break it this ti- yep, broke it again"
  8. Can't wait for MBAC, I'll be dunkin lolis wearin my hobo sacks for pants, going to be good times.
  9. CS is probably just a timing issue. Otherwise don't put too many hits before hit, or it won't combo right. GH(2) should work fine, could be a timing issue. You *CAN* delay it too long, but the 5b will still land, the problem is just the 6a won't work because some characters will be too high. Practice and experience etc.
  10. Team cambridge minus kyl will be there lol. I think we still have three people though so we are working on who is doing what, but put me in for BB. And GG. That suspense was awesome, almost worth the money I will lose playing GG.
  11. Your combo is fine BD. CS ender is fine after a big ol' combo in blood kain, but if you don't you can get 22c ender(s). I actually like the cross-under mixup quite a bit, messes with a lot of wakeup options for the opponent. I actually don't see a lot of double BE blood kain combos (?), I would think it's odd when not fatal as well. Real talk, after you land BE and the end of the combo and you have 100% bar: you better gold burst DBD, and then on their way down you 5b blood kain again and tech chase with 6D. Srs bzns.
  12. If I had a vote I would say mbaacc, imo. Also, I'm building a Nazir costume, so I can sneak onto Jabir's team and not have to fight his litchi anymore.
  13. I don't have an opinion either way, but if WC was better than EC, wouldn't ragna be worse on the WC matchup list? The reason that he drops seems to be his predictable mixups and easily IB'd strings, so if you are better than he should do worse :S. For my opinion on RAMDA RANGNA I would agree with 50/50, seems that way from what I've watched from japan and what I've played myself.
  14. True, I do play ragna who is the easiest lol mode character ever. The combo filler seems to always be the same in BB though, whereas GG combo filler seems to differ from player to player. There is a lot more in terms of weight and hitboxes in GG, you can tell when a player knows more about matchups than in BB. As a side note, don't take anything I believe on GG to be true, cause I am awful at the game. I'm not saying I do the same combo, I'm saying from a 5b there is a combo I have in mind, there isn't as much improvisation in combos to get a certain knockdown versus a character's specific bio. Not really any originality in BB, cause there aren't as many options, especially with FRC fakeouts on a lot of mixups in GG. I'm still bad lol it's just what I see when watching japanese play. I'll be there to show how awful I am at GG tonight anyways :3 watch me miss that gunflame FRC and throw grandvipers from fullscreen!
  15. But if they are scrubs you should win anyways :| The best part about guilty gear is not just the incredible execution level, but it's really how diverse the game is. With BB, it feels like whenever I land a certain poke or hit, I know exactly what combo I should do to maximize damage and positioning. There isn't much in terms of originality. In GG characters and their strategies seem much more personalized, and you can easily tell players apart from others. I will agree that scrubs don't seem to realize that harder execution and combos means that when you land them, you feel that much better and satisfied. Not that I'm any good at GG (yet), CLSW loops give me fist pumping good feelings, but easy bnb's in melty blood or bb not so much. Obviously the hard combos still do that, but it's just everything in GG does it. I think people are looking at it the wrong way, because the only problem I have with guilty gear in terms of what I think is dumb is not FRC timing or anything that way... it's the dizzy meter and the stagger waggle. I think it's kinda out of place in this type of game, and stagger waggle is the fast way to broken arcade sticks And come on, guilty gear has awesome characters... but storyline? It's pretty messed up, if anyone plays GG it's for the gameplay, it seems like an unwise decision to change it drastically. BB has more lenient gameplay, but actually has a more thought out storyline and is more polished with extra stuff (VNs are good), so it will attract more casuals to begin with. tldr; guilty gear is good and shouldn't be changed, especially not for scrubs
  16. Yeah it's more of a letsgetdumb.txt thing, but I figured it was somewhat relevant to the discussion. Thanks for the confirm, just going off memory right now. I enjoy using DbD, but it's pretty terrible in all departments. I consider it like an astral I can use in any round; usually a bad idea but fun to throw around.
  17. If you do a 3c > BK activation combo starting with 100% that ends in the corner, you can do the gold burst DbD... rapid and 22c them on the way down. That is better than a carnage scissors ender I'm pretty sure but like... lulz. You can also link a 5b with no rapid after DbD, and go for a 6a tech trap or 623d if you are ballsy. Important thing about DbD for tech traps, you can hit bang, hakumen, and tsubaki from a 22c without moving, so if they like to tech out you can grab em from that. If they don't tech you still get 1.5k~ life and a knockdown (or the trap above). This is not corner specific as the pushback is the same, but it helps in the corner as the can't back up or jump away, only up into your big red glove.
  18. I just got the cast list for the play I'm in; I'll be playing Apollo... but more importantly I'm also playing Hermes. Awesome. So I'll be able to fill in for Hermes whenever needed :P Also however close I can come to winning with the scrubjet sol I have, I'm going to get some montage music going so I can play like kusoru (I think that's how its spelled). Train hard and throw grand vipa's e'erywhere, guilty gear is just so intense even when I'm awful.
  19. 5D and buffer a 214D. Not bad for snipe pokes and good distance to the corner. 5D does still have a pretty big hitbox and if you get it out is fairly high in priority because of its hitbox. I dunno it isn't great but it can add an unexpected long range poke that does well versus IAD's.
  20. Picking up Jin now, get at me.
  21. This has nothing to do with the frame gap, but is the 5a a fuzzy guard? Not like it's an overhead, just want to know if that's a useful tick throw (kaqn style sorta) and pressure tool. Also are you or your computer bots barrier blocking? I don't know either way my xbox blew up, so I can't test this stuff right now.
  22. I'd say ragna jin is ragna's favour, but it isn't the end of the world. You can play footies with ragna, it's just his reward is much higher than yours for the most part. I'd say take to the air, and bait 6a's with ice swords when you can. Once you force him to block an aerial you can do whatever it is you do to win your matches. Jin can hit harder in the corner, (not counting like combo vid shit) so you want to be proficient at IB'ing ragna's (fairly easy to see) blockstrings, and use that meter to push him in the corner. Nothing wrong with being on the defensive for a bit if you know how to block, ragna's mixup is annoying but not impossible to see. Yeah ultimately you want to keep him out of range for 3c combos, and IB lots of stuff, it shouldn't be too bad. From ragna's point of view you want to 6a the aerials and just get in his face, the numbers are in your favour when close for sure. Thanks zidane for backing me up, and yeah I forgot about 5c and 2a as anti airs, they both have their uses too. You can also use the command grab for a nice reset mixup, with a dash(? might not need a dash, not really hard though) 5b and gatling into a 6a or 6b houtenjin for a more scary mixup. That's not airtight or anything, but it's still hard to see coming and the frame advantage is nice on the 5b > X gatling in terms of overheads.
  23. While his damage is super cool and IB houtenjin is ballin', Hazama's real high tier jump comes probably more from his options. He has so many tools, I don't even know why he has some of them. He has zoning tools, in the form of snakes and some long pokes like 3c and j.b He has the reversal of the century with houtenjin, and his flash kick from stance is also very respectable, along with being incredibly safe (even more so against airborne opponents) He has many different anti-airs, from fast like 5a to invincible like 2c and 214db, to long range with snakes and hunger coils He has very good pressure with 214da being safe on block and continuing pressure, and people are cautious about hitting him out of stance while risking a counter hit 214db, and very good dash 2a's His mixup game is phenomenal between having a normal overhead, a standing low, a stance for high/low, an invincible command grab, a crossup j.2c (and j.b), and fast 2a's for tick throws He has many different resets (lol america) because of his ability for increased mobility with snakes and command grabs He gets knockdowns from almost all his combos, and his meter gain is above average There is other stuff, but the point is that he has options for just about every situation, and it is very easy to find a tool Hazama has that can exploit a weakness in the opponent's character.
  24. Yo nazir you gotta get in on counter-hit 6a blood kain, and then you judge their height and go from there, either 6d or 5c and continue. Blood kain off everything, only way to play!
  25. So Makoto is pretty strong... she did a charged j.D and it broke my xbox. No seriously, it froze and now I got rrod'd. There goes my practice for T11 I guess :O
