So I posted some vids awhile back of my super scrubby Arakune. I took a lot of your tips into account, I also watched Skye's videos repeatedly to learn some new curse techniques. I'm not saying I'm a whole lot better... because I'm not... but I'm doing a better job of playing. There are physical limitations that inhibit me from being better (i.e. I screw up air dashes a lot, so instead of an element of surprise, I float carelessly into anti-airs) but I am working to improve those when I can. Full time job and life get in the way of playing more then I'd like to, but you gotta work with what you have... and well... I'd much rather have that then limitless time to play a game honestly :-P Anyway, here are some of my matches that demonstrate my improvements. I'm looking for more tips and refinement. I think I'm getting the game mechanics down a lot better (I didn't get a good grasp of this in BB:CT)... it's a work in progress and I'm having quite a bit of fun doing it. Arakune vs Hakumen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhnJ2hTDZoI Arakune vs Rachel (At about 5:56 I hit a pretty awesome 'totally on purpose' full curse combo) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXoqH1ERwQs Arakune vs Tsubaki http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPYQT8bpZck Bonus! Arakune vs Bang (3:56 is a full curse 'combo'... it blue beats, didn't realize this happened, but in real life you can do this for full curse) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AloxCOS-wnE

Here are a couple more neat ones... check the vid thread for more, but I have hit the one several times and am trying to build confidence in doing the other 2: 6A, 5D, 236236C, 5D, jc, j5A, j5C, j5D 6C, rapid, j5D, 5D, jc, j5A, j5C, j5D 6C, 6C, 2C, rapid, 5D, jc, j5A, j5C, j2A, j2B cancel to 5D, sjc, j5A, j5C, j5D

I completely agree with lordspectrex. Faster overhead would be gnarly, and j.#D actually hitting something would be really cool. I certainly don't think pre-curse arakune is boring, I have a lot of fun playing head games and landing some of the goofier 100% curse combos. I've had some pretty good success hitting 6A, 5D xx 236236C, 5D, jc, j5A, j5C, j5D

Here is how I do it: 5C, jc, j.5A, j.5C, 2A as soon as you HEAR j.2A hit press 2B, and then let your stick go to nuetral and press 5D The cancel is pretty lenient, you need to be quick about hitting 5D though after pressing 2B

This one is purty easy: 3A (6A bug summoned), 3A, (6A bug hits) 5CD, C bug hits, D bug hits... commence loop! There are far more, but this is by far the easiest. Check the vid thread for some kick ass amazing tutorials.

I feel like score attack is a lot harder in CS then it was in CT... I beat score attack with Bang in CT, haha. Right now I'm completely stuck on Litchi... but I won't flood the board trying to discuss how to beat the psychic computer :-P I am trying to prep my Carl skills by playing through Score Attack first before heading online. Is this a good idea? After 5 days (for ~1hr each day of playing) I finally got Challenge 8 done, which I think it holds a key concept for understanding how to play Carl in this game... so I'm proud of advancing my skills... Right now the combo I use most is: 2A, 5B, 2B, 5C, 6D, 5B, 6B, 623C, 5B, 2D hits... and then I screw up the rest generally, but I'd like to hit a 2C, 8D, j.2C, j.5C, 2D etc etc I really respect you guys with the extreme dexterity to pull off these combos... it's most impressive. I'll keep working and hopefully at least be competent with Carl one of these days.

Wow, a lot of great advice! Thanks. I feel like you both were far too nice on me though I agree, as I posted in a different thread I found a lot of success with Arakune in BB:CT despite not having a good core of game play skills. I'm finding I need to dig those up first, and then maybe I can improve. Movement is a key issue of mine... I want to incorporate more j.X6 (where X = A or B or C) like I see a lot of the good 'pro' arakune's doing. Didn't even know j.44, and holding 4 and attacking will drop me quicker, great stuff. I do just mash when I get a curse... it's pretty pathetic. I don't have a good post-curse game plan aside from "swarm and pray" Another huge area of concern is 'post-curse didn't quite kill the opponent yet'... I dunno what to do... keep trying to go for the curse? Try and KO in some other way. But again, thanks for the tips you already provided, It'll probably be a couple weeks before I post another video, and hopefully it won't be AS bad *Note* I DO try and go for 2A, 2A, 5CD etc etc, but I found more success doing 2A, 6A, 5CD since I feel like most anti-kune players are expecting the low attacks (that is when I'm not mashing) Also, yeah, I use the trial mode combos because I haven't gone into training mode much and the trial combos just kind of clicked. I have hit the 236[C], press D and release C half way through... Just not confident enough to do it online yet.

Hey fellow kune's! I have a couple vids of my scrubakune... in a few words, I'm pretty lame and am just starting to 'get' CS arakune. I'm getting better about reducing dive spam (since it results in great oppurtunities to die) and installing my mixup game, but I still need a lot of work. Here are a couple vids of what I consider my BEST playing. I wanna be a legit kune and no longer a lame-kune, so please provide some help if there is any salvaging my game play: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo1zMk8S5lU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ip8Xo73RoMg PS: I love the kune dance in the combo vid copperdabbit posted.

I'm going to the Texans vs colts game this weekend and was hoping to go to pz afterward and try out cs. It sounds like i'll find the 'competition' to be alright since i'm not exactly a pro...

You missed me by 2 weeks! I just moved out of Binghamton to pursue other career opportunities in Houston. It's kind of funny... my girlfriend worked at Kampai and overheard some people at a table talking about blazblue and jumped in the conversation and I was like "you didn't get there names? there is no one to play around here!" You're better off buying a truck and learning to sing kareoke to country songs at dive bars. I did have a good connection over PSN to a lot of good players, so yeah, you'll have to stick to the interwebs to get a match... or maybe some people will reply to this thread, I'm hoping you find someone, haha.

Hey all, Just letting you know I successfully landed in Houston last night (well... league city). I read a couple pages back that there was a BB tournament tomorrow (the 17th)... am I sadly mistaken? I wasn't going to enter, I haven't sat down and played video games for more then 10 minutes in over 2-3 weeks. Transferring jobs sucks, it's stressful and doesn't give you any time to do anything you want, haha. I would like to check out the area, see if it was something I'd hit up every so often if I heard people from here were going to meet up. My girlfriend and I are going to check out the downtown tomorrow regardless. She heard there was a really good china town... can anyone confirm this? Anyway, moving in is probably going to be just as bad as moving out, so I probably still won't be playing many games and the decline of my skill will greatly heighten, lol. Hope to play with some of you soon.

Hey there Houston natives! I just got a job in the Houston area and will be moving there in mid-October. I'll be narrowly escaping the deadly winters of central New York to deal with the sweltering heat of the south. At anyrate, I'll be living about a half hour south of the City at first. I've never really lived in an area with an 'arcade scene' and I'm not even really sure if Houston really has one... I was just curious as to what 'ya'll' think of the area, and maybe when I get down there we can get a few matches in? Well, if you want to play sometime online, my PSN ID is dgowen, but in a few weeks, the connection will be a lot better, haha.

The video has some neat stuff, but I think someone posted in the comments section about how it has a few too many 'purple exclamation point' throw combos that are kind of hard to connect I posted a couple new videos of not only my quest of learning Bang, but also my trials and tribulations in trying to learn to play with a stick. I've been at it for about 2 weeks now and I think I'm coming along alright, it just gets quite frustrating when I mess up dashes, air 236's and most 623's. Costs me matches far too often when I look like a total idiot and jump straight in the air only to land and get my face smashed in by a combo... or when I go on my jumping in place drive attack rampages that are about a screen length away from the opponent... meh, I'll get better... I really like it beacuse I could never TK all that great on a pad This first one is a fun, not serious, Bang v. Bang match, I actually manage to start doing a decent FRKZ combo in the second round, I'm really trying to implement that into my gameplay: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAHGFfWMDB0 The next is against a Noel. Again, pretty frustrating, you see me jump in place a lot in this and eat an attack of some kind, simply because I cannot air dash very well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pIeV4b5n-rs Both kind of show me I need to work on blocking and not always try and squeeze in a Drive attack. It's not worth losing 1/2 your health bar to finally land a 2D combo of some kind.
-
Wow WUT, that was an amazing show of Bang skills. Wish you had more videos up (or do you?) Between watching you and 10stars I may have a chance at becoming proficient with Bang, haha (I should also mention my appreciation toward ATG for his slowed down combo tutorials)

How strict is the timing for (2/5)A, 5B, 2B... What I'm trying to get at here is, when doing the BNB combo, sometimes I will catch people trying to jump (or backdash) away and send them into the air with 5A, 5B, but because I try and get the whole combo out so fast, I have already hit 2B Are you able to hit confirm the 5B into the 2B, so that way you know, if you hit them into the air, you can rise up with an aircombo rather then just knocking them away with a 2B and potentially being dumb enough to continue on with a 2C that hits nothing but air?

Thank you both so much for the input. I've noticed a drastic improvement in my Bang. I still need to get down the TK'ing and dashing on the pressure strings, but all in good time. I stopped rushing up and doing the 2D move every 2 seconds, and when I do it, get ready to do the throw break and have been pretty successful at that... I've also started using his cross up kick much more effectively, people seem to have a lot of trouble stopping that kick after BNB I also finally landed the command throw... it shows my mix up is finally striking fear into the heart of my competitors!

The videos I upload are around that size... maybe even smaller. I record from the webcam on my PC. I think you should be fine with that conversion, it takes about 6min to upload a video for me and they load quite fast. Speaking of which... I'm a hero in training. I was playing Arakune, but I like Bang's character so much more and just have way more fun playing as him. Here are some videos of my journey for love and justice! Bang vs Litchi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ObiC6dSZqc Bang vs Hakumen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCtaTLJBWtE Bang vs Ragna http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1xBfp6QIv0 I'm not claiming to be an awesome Bang, as you can see my execution is quite sloppy and I kind of play a 'try to be psychic' style, but I hope to improve my Bang skills and maybe get some tips and tricks from others?
