[P4A] Mitsuru Kirijo Combo Thread (Updated 9/20/2012)
KowtowRobinson replied to Jourdal's topic in Archive
Coming back to this game, and all of a sudden 5aa>5b>2ab isn't connecting. Training dummy set up to block properly vs Chie, but I don't remember this being a character specific thing. Was there some patch I missed? Or am I forgetting something? EDIT: Nvm fixed it, only works crouching apparently. So what do you use on a standing opponent in the corner? -

Rochester still active? I'm more or less retired, but Buffalo has players all the time lol. HOWEVER my weekends may turn into morning shifts instead of evenings, so I may at least come out and steal some of those Jolly Rancher sodas lol. -
Yeah gonna have to give some thought to whether or not I'm gonna play this game then lol. I don't think my stick can survive another beating. Really just don't care that much about fighting games anymore, until I fuck up. Then I care too much. So a game where the entire defense is based around a just frame blocking mechanic will probably just raise my blood pressure lol. Fun game though, definitely not the game's fault.
-
I was afraid you'd say that. Is there some trick to IBing consistently that I'm not understanding? I'm coming mostly from 3d fighters, and the answer is rarely "you gotta guard impact/parry that ish" so having to just frame block EVERYTHING is kinda new to me.
-
Parser is those new dashing attacks she has, right? The low one is 5a punishable ONLY if you IB? I blocked it normally and it looked unsafe but 5a was out of range. Outside of IB what are your other options after blocking that? Please don't say "just IB it!" I'm looking for options if you mistime your IB but still block it.
-
Good to know it's not a huge chunk of damage, I was ready to hit something trying to land that throw combo lol. Doesn't look like I'll be able to play much more if at all because of a change in my work schedule, though. As for starting with 5a, I still do and it seems to fuck up combos more than it helps now haha. Proration ftl, I'm guessing.

My execution is far from the best, but I had the same issue against those two with finishing the last two hits of the air combo, dj.4c, j.C wouldn't connect before they could tech away. Or they'd be too high for the last j.C to connect. Would substituting a dj.B for the 4C solve this on these characters? Also how much damage do you lose on the basic throw combo from omitting the 5C? I couldn't nail down that combo at all, I might just start working on it starting with 6a next time I play.
-
Thanks I'll give that a shot next time I play. I loved doing RC combos off his normal throw in the last game so comboing off his throw is something I want to be able to do. Not needing meter to do it is even better. Still can't believe he can super off air grab into the corner lol.
-
I figured it might be a whiff nail thing after I posted that, lol. I'll try both of these combos next time I get up to the barcade. What can be combo'd off that second one, after the land, j.A to pawnch?
-
Quick combo question, I saw in one of the Bang threads that off throw you can do b nail cancel, dash 5c, 6a etc. Tried it now that we have CS here in Buffalo (closer to the Falls really but whatever) and couldn't get the b nail to hit no matter when I timed it. If I did it before the drop kick or right as it hit, I would land before the nail came out. If I let him bounce back some, the nail came out but whiffed. What am I doing wrong? I'm kind of in a rush to read 20 pages right now so sorry if this was already answered.

lol what an asshole, best Bang ever.

Oh, and he's talkin some mess about facing Buffalo? Yeah he should just play Pittsburgh, I enjoy BlazBlue and all but Calibur is gonna be big here, so it's just a side game for me. If he feels like he's got something to prove, he should be playing experienced players, not trying to pick fights with someone that's gonna be busy with another game all day. I guess I'm running the brackets for BlazBlue though, so I mean it's not like I'm not gonna play it? I'm really just in it to learn what I can from Pittsburgh and Toronto's players, if anyone wants to talk some mess they should play those guys. Tao's 2a is a strong tool, should be helpful to see how they work around someone that's just DOING it like it's something to do.
-
Not sure who you are? But I'll be playing mostly Calibur anyway, you should try to play Pittsburgh or Toronto, or people that are actually good at the game. You keep calling out Buffalo players, but I really don't think they (or myself for that matter) care as much about BB right now as we do about other games (Calibur, SF4). We're just trying to run a good event for the players, we know people want to play BB, and we got that. If you want to run team challenges or whatever, I'm sure Pittsburgh would be happy to get some games in. But beating players who don't even practice or play locally anymore really isn't that impressive.
