  1. thanks, i have a huge issue with negative warning with noel as well though i play more defensively against her because i'm afraid of eating a huge drive combo, but i end up with negative warning too fast. how do you safely keep up the pressure?
  2. i duno what the rules are about button binding in tourneys where i live, but i use a stick, being able to press both b and c at the same time is not really my problem. i have extra buttons to bind on my stick, but i like to play in the arcade too,s o i'd rather not get into bad habits.
  3. wow, i'll need to shelf all that for later, as just pulling off one of the combos is enough for me right now, but ist good to know my options. for me, i think damage is king right now anyway. i've noticed a problem i'm having where i basically don't tech any throws at all, i don't know if i'm slow or what, any advice for practice on this? do you guys hold your fingers on B+C at all times? only time a tech a throw is the random chance that i was going for a throw at the same time. its not even like i'm teching too early either, because i'm not getting the red-x, i'm just watching people throw me, and alot of peoples throws lead to DDs like jin, arakune

  7. ok, last night was a pretty good breakthrough for me being able to do certain things in training is one thing, but being able to land them in actual games feels like a major breakthrough, atleast on my slow learning scale. i feel like once i do it once in a real game, that ice is broken, and it becomes much easier to do going forward (or maybe i'm just less afraid of trying it more often) last night in normal games i was able to land 5B 6B 623C 5B jc j.B j.B 214C i know that with practice i can get a j.C right before the 214C but the first time i've ever successfully landed anything like that in a real game, so i feel like thats progress, since i'm constantly dropping that combo, and being able to get that extra damage is pretty important for me. i was also able to land 2B 3C IAD 2C alle~can 2C but i was so suprised that i didn't have nirvana in position to trap after that. but now that i was able to do the combo in a game, i'll add the summoning and position in. my play with carl himself has gotten alot better, and i feel like thats the first step, but i need to integrate with nirvana better then i have been. lately my only use has been random anti air, occasional 236236D mixups, and i'm just starting to use 6D loops. i feel like i'm starting to get somewhere though, even though i lose considerably more then i win. someone was asking me questions last night, about what my toughest matchups are, and i really feel like every matchup with the exception of tager is an uphill battle.

  9. weekend nights or days at ctf? whats the bb scene like out there? last time i went (before console) everyone just played sf4 i have a ps3, but bb on 360, maybe i'll pick it up for ps3 if theres a better crowd,

  11. one of the largest problems i've had with arakune, and this probably goes without saying , is not understanding the characters moves, not understanding where hes vulnerable, and where hes going to pop up after doing some of his moves. spending some time in training as arakune, and exploring his basic normals, has given me alot of insight of when i'll be able to poke during real games.
  12. an update, i didnt get to try 2a+[d], 2b, 3c+22]d[>(cancel 3c with VivA+[d])>link 2b yet, i had some limited playing time last night but i was able to get alle~can to hit a few times, its just a matter of repetition now. i also was able to do 2B 3C 2B 2C to launch, its techable, but i caught a few people in that and launched them into loop. i've noticed that in my games that i play, i have a really hard time with teching throws, is there any tricks you guys use to tech? do you keep your two fingers on the throw buttons at all times?

  14. yeah, i feel that, for me its always been easier to break up the combos into other parts, but thats mainly because i haven't been able to execute this at all. once i'm able to do this once or twice, i'll wrap it back into the combo. i'm pretty sure my issue is after the bounce, i believe my iad is fast enough, because my combo from the j.2C continues, (solid numbers) i'm just hitting the alle~can too late (full allegretto off bounce) or missing the execution (j.C after bounce) will definitely go again today,

  16. thanks, one last question this execution should be possible off any j.2c correct? having to do the first half of the combo, while good practice, is limiting the amount of chances i get to practice this particular part of the combo. if i just practice j.2c->alle~can->2c , until i have a higher success rate, then introduce th efirst half of the combo, i think that would be better for me. thanks for your input.
  17. for IAD i was unable to do it (and i use a joystick) until i started doing 9,6 , i still don't get it everytime but its alot more consistent for me. for the 5B->jc->j.B i was talking about yesterday, i tried some of the advice you guys posted. i was able to combo into j.B a few times. but my timing isnt perfect yet. i haven't even tried to finish the rest of the combo, i guess i'm at that point where when it lands, i'm so excited, i dont remember what else to hit until after its over. i'm still having alot of problems with alle~can though, i can do 2B->3C->IAD->j.2C then, one of 3 things happen. i either get a full allegretto (albeit low to the ground, but enough to hit my opponent and launch him across the screen) nothing comes out, (but i don't land fast enough to chain in 2C) or i get another j.2C or j.C. can you guys suggest where my timing is wrong. do i need to be doing 214C before j.2C connects, or as it connects? also i tested 6A->jc->Air throw, and was able to do this pretty consistently on every character, but i wasn't able to test it on jump-in (which is probably the only practical time to do it in a game, since its too slow to punish. Also i haven't tried to connect it to throw loop yet.
  18. takes some getting used to , but it took me awhile to adapt to pressing D, moving the stick to the input, letting go of D while its still pointing in the right direction, . if you are simplying pressing 6+D its likely you are letting go of the button too late, (after the stick resets to center position) thus the attack is not coming out. this will definitely get better over time.
  19. i believe this is where my problem was, i will try inputting 5b at the same time as i input 9b and see if i can't get myself into the air and continue the combo.
  20. this thread doesn't exist, and i have a few questions, hopefully someone can do a more formal writeup. Playing against a good Noel, i'm not even sure where to begin. but my problem is actually with the PSN/XBL trash Noels that spam drive mixup. if i get caught in a good drive combo, its 50% of my life as carl. If they play defensive, i'm negative warning WAY quicker. and it does 70% on a full drive combo. if i burst immediately on the begining of first drive combo, then i can't get hit for the rest of the round or i'm dead. is there some moves that are a little more proactive in poking her from distance so you can't get caught in drive loop? 5C seems to work if she does almost anything but the 3D overhead. getting hit with 3C into drive combo is killing me too though. where should i be trying to keep nirvana in this matchup?
  21. thanks, i'll definitely hit the drawing board again, i reread my post and realized that it could be misleading, the actual problem i was having is 5B to the j.b not the 623C to 5B link, although that took some practice too. i've pretty much got that down now. i'll be trying the suggestions about linking 5B to j.B when i get home.

I'm having trouble linking into the air part of any combo that involves 623C to 5B, mainly the ones below. can someone clarify what i should be doing. i'd also be interested in seeing any videos where this happens. am i supposed to IAD after 5B hits? i can't seem to connect 5B to anything. 1. - 2A->5B->6B->623C->5B->jc->jB->dj->jB->jC/j214C 3. - (corner) 5B->5C->623C->5B->jc->jB->dj->jB->jC/j214C
