  1. I've seen air stunedges suggested a couple times; what for? He can nullify them with the air bag throw move (or at least delay his fall to make the stun edge miss him), and they don't help you get in at all since his hitbox is so evasive. Also, is there anything you can do about j.2K? It seems like he can just do it whenever and wherever he feels and its impossible to anti air. Anti-airing him in general is a problem, his air normals are all really good.
  2. Yeah this matchup seems ridiculous, I have no idea what Ky is supposed to do. I've watched some Ain matches but he comes off worse from the encounters. Once she gets you in the corner, you're basically done unless they fuck up. You can't zone with fireball because she can just set a sword on top of you and you won't recover in time to block it. Her j.P is so good, it beats out most everything and she can get a hard knockdown from it, which lets her set swords. You just have to constantly be pressuring her and not letting her get her nonsense started. Easier said than done though. I played a good Ram for the first time and got absolutely annihlated, literally couldn't move so any other thoughts would be appreciated...
  3. Doesn't his new super seem kinda... dumb? How easy is it to avoid? I know you can just jump if you're on the ground and the startup looks too long to do it on reaction to someone jumping, but like... you're throw invul on the first jump frame, does that mean you have to time a jump to a 1 frame window to avoid it? Isn't that kinda difficult? (too early and you'll be airborne and get grabbed, too late and you're just standing and will get grabbed) I obviously want Bang to be good, but I also don't want him to be ridiculous like in CS1. At the moment, that super looks like an unblockable Gravity Squeeze.
  4. I started using 214C but are you supposed to do it on reaction? A droit comes out way too fast and if its out first it seems to win. So I'm essentially guessing when to do it and while 214C doesn't seem too bad on block, it just puts me in her face and she starts pressing her buttons. Also when she is right in on me, does 214C beat her 5A then? It felt like whenever I tried it, I got beaten on startup. It just feels like I have to work my ass off to do anything at all, while she is quite mindlessly pushing buttons in my face, everything safe, and even if it feels like I can press something its beaten out by 5A. I've started instant blocking a lot but it doesn't seem to change a ton, all I can punish is A droit but its rare they do that on block now I can punish it. Matchup really doesn't feel like 5-5 at all, feels like I have to play absolutely on point; tech every throw, IB everything, go for the most elaborate oki, while they just lounge around pressing 5A. If anyone has some videos of the matchup being handled as it should be, please post it here if you could.
  5. Anybody got any links to high level play of this matchup? Finding it really difficult. I found some arcade matches but the Mitsuru player always showed way more respect that I'm used to, they seem to press way less buttons. I'm doing the same stuff as in the videos (minus some of the better combos) but there's obviously something I'm missing. EDIT: Disregard, didn't notice the video thread was divided by character. Still, any recommendations?
  6. I'm REALLY mindfucked in this matchup. Seems like she can mash buttons and they beat everything. Her jumping multiple hit thing just beats everything, what do you do about it? Yeah just block, but then I have to put up with her pressure... her blockstrings, when do they end? The overhead butt thing is really positive on block, I can't find where her pressure ends. Or am I approaching it wrong? In short, how do I get in when she outranges you massively, and how do you get out of her pressure? I just don't know the matchup since she doesn't seem that popular, but I'm getting blown up by a shitty player and I'm stumped.
  7. So, what do you actually do about drive spam?
  8. Yeah I thought so, thanks. I played a long set with a good Tao I ran into on PSN, it was a real uphill struggle the whole way. In one round I guessed right/landed a mix up 4 or 5 times and got a perfect, but other than that it was 2A mash and ragebursts all the way.
  9. Any other tips apart from "time your meaty attacks better?" its rare you even hit Tao to get a knockdown. Is there any way to deal with her pressure? Or do you literally have to just sit there and block until they make a mistake or you get bar for dead angle? This matchup is just dumb as fuck.
  10. Oh really, I didn't know about the knockdown property on airborne opponents, that's kinda cool I guess. A shame as I loved the nails pressure, but it was a bit overpowered so I can understand him losing it. Also, shoutouts to Jinty! Struggling with the same stuff as me as I see, somewhat reassuring
  11. I have a quick question: why are no Japanese players doing the tiger knee D nails pressure stuff anymore? I know D nails took a nerf, and I can't get anything to combo on hit whereas before dash 5A would still combo, but what's the reason for not doing them on block? Can opponents mash something out between the nails and 5A? Are they IB punishable? Just like to know why, thanks.
  12. I'm no Carl player, but can anyone explain this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNM4Xh6aMng Is it PSP only? I've not seen any arcade match vids with it happening, though it is pretty situational, you'd have thought someone would have come across it by now. Or maybe they have and I've just not seen it as I don't keep up with Carl stuff. Either way, can anyone confirm if its in the arcade version?
  13. I guess its not the move itself but the mixup after I'm not familiar enough with. I'll make more of an effort to avoid taildrop though. Can you actually punish it on block/IB though?
  14. Anyone got anything recent to add for this matchup? I'm struggling. That fucking airdrop tail move gives me nightmare. Nothing beats it, safe on IB, seems she can just chuck it out and if it connects with you in any way she gets a free pressure string.
  15. I didn't see this, thanks man. Will try that 5A 2A 2A 2B string and see how much people like mashing on 2A! I think a big part of my problem is I rarely play any decent Taos and so when I do encounter one I just treat it like any other match and get frustrated at getting counter hit all the time.
