[CP] Amane Critique thread - Show me your dance moves
Cynthetik replied to DerQ's topic in Amane Nishiki
Just had our monthly tournament this weekend. I was able to make it though the gauntlet from hell and make it to grand finals to take 2nd place! I feel like I played pretty sloppy in loser's semi's and in grand finals, tourney nerves were kicking in and I was dropping a lot of things that I shouldn't have dropped. After seeing Hoshi's performance at FR, I am really trying to level up my movement, I feel like I am still way too stiff especially given the tools that Amane has for movement. So if anyone has any pointers or tips on how to improve my movement, it would be greatly appreciated. -Loser's Semi-Finals- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY7bxNAgbdw&feature=youtu.be&a Hellfire (Amane) vs TC True_Tech (Kokonoe) -Loser's Finals- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs1Mmvuq2C0&feature=youtu.be&a Hellfire (Amane) vs SHGxMiniMatt (Kokonoe) -Grand Finals- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE5ckEwIjhE&feature=youtu.be&a Hellfire (Amane) vs Moblin (Hakumen) -
Think this same thing could be done with any 6D that connects? Or do you think it is only possible after a 5C counter hit? Cause if this can be done off of any 6D... this is huge... lol. Either way, with the nice recovery buff that Amane got to his 5C, throwing out 5C to fish for a counter hit will definitely be more plausible. When is 1.1 again? :D

One thing I would like to note for all Amane players: An easy way to test to see if an opponent knows how to get out of any 6D set up that uses Hariken Stance is to simply go for the set up as normal but purposefully enter Hariken Stance and do nothing. If the opponent rolls out or attempts to jump out, it means they are probably aware of the set up and that you should look for a different 6D set up. If the opponent emergency techs and immediately blocks, chances are they don't know how to escape and that set up is good until proven otherwise.

I have a certain set up that I use that makes it more consistent. If done low to the ground, it makes Gosei > RC > 6D easier to connect and is very easy to set up once you have the opponent respecting/blocking Amane. j.2B > fabhop > j.B > j.C(1) > j.6C > j.2C > Gosei > RC > 6D

Had some of my matches recorded from last weeks casuals. Was mostly working on trying to incorporate 5B > 6D blockstring into my game (learn spacing/when it's a good time to go for it). Feel free to check out my matches and tell me what you think! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3afov7UoSY&t=11m40s Hellfire (Amane) vs Spelt (Rachel, Jin, Litchi) -
Overall it's a solid list of buffs with very minor nerfs. Thoughts on buffs: I am curious as to the change to Amane's astral hit box, new combo routes into astral might be possible(?). The recovery on 5C is a lot more than what I was expecting (it recovers almost as fast as his current 2A!). This normal is going to become a real nice poke to harass our opponents at neutral. Definitely feel like the Backdash change could actually be a buff, having 2 extra frames of invincibility is going to be really nice. Really excited to see the new Hariken stance in action, could potentially be HUGE. The projectile armor and increased drill meter gain means more consistent drill levels at neutral. Currently the buff I am most excited for is the change to 2A. Finally having a real throw game using tic throws is going to be amazing because a throw is a free ticket to level 3 drill Increase negative penalty resistance means we can be more annoying and run/hop away for longer. This is really good for Amane. Wish we could see how much more damage 632146C does now, but it looks like we will have to wait to see the numbers. Either way, this is a fantastic buff cause the super as it is now is hot garbage at level 1/2. Wonder what will be possible now that it leaves Amane closer to opponent. Possibility to always combo after it(?). Thoughts on nerfs: The larger hitbox during knockdown nerf sucks, but I kinda saw it coming. Too many people complain about combos dropping on our fabulous character. Nerf to 6D is minuscule. Amane should not have been rewarded with free drill meter for whiffing this normal. Means that we have to hit confirm into 6D, no biggie. Gekiren disappearing when getting hit seems more like a fix than a nerf. Whenever this traded with something, it looked really out of place. Makes sense to have it disappear. I am still not sure how any of this is going to address his current problems though, but anything helps! I am going to miss Amane's top tier hitbox when he is getting combo'd though

As some of you might already be aware of, I was at SCR. I made it all the way to winner's finals only to lose then I lost again in loser's finals. I don't quite understand the Tao match up at all, not sure what that character is doing other than she is always in my face. In loser's finals, I think the fact that I was facing one of my local players had me not thinking clearly/playing poorly and I looked really free. Overall somewhat satisfied with my performance and hope to make it farther at my next major (I was so close to top 16! ). Feel free to check out my matches, any advice is always appreciated! Some footage of local casuals with me vs one of the resident Hazama players. I noticed during this set was that I got too comfortable throwing out Gekiren because I was catching him with it at first. I continued to do this even after he adapted and stopped getting caught by it. Any critiquing is always appreciated. The second video suddenly ends because we ran out of memory on the sd card, I apologize for that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q_7Cl8RsAA&t=20m55s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gE9MJgvBEDc SecretHighTier (Hazama) vs Hellfire (Amane) -

Recently had a local party with a small side tournament which was mostly for fun. (I am pretty sure most of our players were a little tipsy when they were playing lol). Here are my matches from that night. I noticed I was doing a lot of wake up supers that I normally wouldn't do during these matches. Anyways, feel free to critique the matches and sorry for the quiet commentary, we didn't notice how low the mics were until it was too late XD http://www.twitch.tv/taisenkai/b/505672140?t=35m10s Hellfire (Amane) vs Moses (Ragna) http://www.twitch.tv/taisenkai/b/505672140?t=1h6m20s Ryyudo (Litchi) vs Hellfire (Amane) http://www.twitch.tv/taisenkai/b/505672140?t=1h26m6s Suna (Platinum) vs Hellfire (Amane) http://www.twitch.tv/taisenkai/b/505672140?t=1h42m10s Hellfire (Amane) vs Spelt (Jin) -
I'm pretty sure it is only a nerf to a wiffed 6D. From the sounds of it, the move is unchanged if it still connects. They probably did this to ensure that players have to actually hit-confirm into 6D and not be rewarded for just throwing it out there/not properly setting it up. Honestly, this nerf seems so minor that its almost negligible.

One of our local players here wanted to play a FT5 against everyone. He is another Kagura player (all my match footage seems to be against this character lol). I feel like I played overall pretty solid, but I also feel like my movement is really lacking. Any sort of criticizing would be much appreciated. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5A-fBOR7dk Hellfire (Amane) vs KrsJin (Kagura) -
Against opponents who have 50 Meter answers to any kind of meaty set up against Amane (Ragna, Jin, Hakumen) after Gosei, having them tech in the air might not be a bad thing. If anything, a possible 5C reset if they don't immediately barrier block after teching could be possible, maybe even a risky Gekiren.

A long set between me and a local Kagura player that some may or may not have heard of from the old GG scene. Would really love some critiquing because I feel like I am definitely leveling up, but I'm gradually slowing down and I don't want that to happen lol. You have a solid pressure game going and your movement is pretty good as well. I feel like in this match you spent a lot of time chasing Rachel down. While it is important that Amane stays on the offensive because he has such good pressure, its also important to remember that his normal have amazing range. It is something that they need to respect if they want to sit on the other side of the screen. Sometimes it is good to just chill and play the poking game; make your opponent get impatient make dumb decisions. Overall solid play, that match up is not fun unless you like blocking lol. Here are some casual matches of me at a recent local gathering. Not gonna lie, I am mostly running on fundamentals in these matches so my game is lacking a lot. It's what I get for not getting time in training mode for the first week of the game http://www.twitch.tv/milehighburst/b/475731430?t=19m7s 19:07 - Hellfire (Amane) vs Tage*Proto (Terumi) 26:54 - Hellfire (Amane) vs NarNar (Azrael/Arakune) 33:00 - Hellfire (Amane) vs Ryyudo (Litchi) http://www.twitch.tv/milehighburst/b/475731430?t=1h27m30s Hellfire (Amane) vs MiracleKnight (Izayoi) -

[P4AU] Naoto Shirogane - Gameplay Discussion "TIME TO MOVE"
Cynthetik replied to ludwig van's topic in Naoto Shirogane
Info from the latest Loketest so far... ・New input in gun stance: 6D ・New input during DP: 4A/B/C/D. Name is ‘Safety’. What it does is unknown. DP seems to be a counter once again. ・Throw dash cancel possible. Can combo off of midscreen throw ・Air B Fang > Mudoon/Gun super possible ・(両メギの明美不能時間大幅減少) -> Trap (untech time? used a weird term, no idea) is drastically reduced.無印のCメギに近い.Recovery is back to how it was now (on c trap?).Still a longer recovery on air SB Traps ・Shooting 6D (new bullet pattern) untech time sucks (is smelly www).combo ender -> 5C>shooting 6D > A Fang is a new way to end combos, advantageous.C trap oki possible. C trap takes 1 count now (someone contradicted this later? maybe he hit it mid combo and was confused lol). ・Critical shot’s left/right variation are still mysterious, send the opponent wallbouncing the same way regardless (I think, could be error).SB Raidは初段2発撃つ (Something… about shooting twice during SB raid?) ・5D did not autocorrect once it went past the opponent.harder to use Weaker than the previous version, but the Mudoon bonus proration is definitely there. Traps are 3 counters?.Cばらまこっか ・SSK found a pattern with SB shooting stance.AB、BC、AC、6CD all work for going into different SB gun stances?? (holy shit what lol. I must be misunderstanding something?).Each bullet takes one out of the clip, last bullet is more powerful. AB version bulelts did 1250 and removed 2 fate counters ・if close, 5B > 5C > 2C > B fang > 5C > JA > JC > 5C > A fang > 6D shots 0. ・C Trap okizeme seems possible, but because you get no return on trap hit, it’s not worth it ・2C, throw followup deal 2 counters ・Counter shot revision deals 3 ・Counter shot、C Trap D Trap =4 More info for those that can read Japanese http://blog.goo.ne.jp/ahiru06081/e/d339e22e089739b323896c986f0580f1 -
[P4A] Naoto Shirogane - Critique Thread "Seeker of Truth"
Cynthetik replied to ludwig van's topic in Archives
Have an upcoming tournament soon so any criticism would be greatly appreciated. I haven't really played Persona since evo so I'm trying to get the rust out as much as possible, but here is a session that I recently played against one of our best players here. Don't mind the names, they are mostly an inside joke for our community here. I'm the Naoto and the Labrys player is Ryyudo (formally a Chie player). I was mostly focusing on movement/pressure/oki in these matches so no SMP loops. (Sorry!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1r6o9Tu2Dp8 -

For mix-ups, Naoto's best option is to combo into 236A then cancel the gun stance, this gives you a hard knockdown and can lead into mix-ups (better option then shooting your opponent for 1 skull lol). Mid screen Naoto doesn't really get too much. I usually just for for a cross up IAD j.C to keep pressure going. In the corner is where Naoto really shines though. End combos with 236A[D] then lay a trap. C traps blow up pretty fast so you can attempt a low using 2A or go for a overhead or just keep applying pressure. My personal favorite mix-up off of an C trap is Hop > j.A > j.B > j.D > 5AA > 5C > 236B > 5C > 236A[D] > Trap. D traps blow up slower so you can go for a throw attempt or bait out a DP etc. Other simple mix-ups I like to do is... NOTE: this one is spacing dependent. SJ Forward > 214D > Dash Forward. If you do this correctly, you will be too high in the air for your opponent to see where the D trap is (should be under them because you jumped forward) then the air dash forward will make the trap cross up and you can confirm into full combo. You can also SJ backwards if you see your opponent running at you. For a simple air throw reset, you can confirm any hit in the corner into a 236B[D] > 5C > 214D > Jump > Air Throw. If done correctly, you will catch them in the air after the recover from the 5C and the opponent will be thrown down into the D trap which you can then confirm into a full combo or just go for the reset again or trap oki using 236A[D] at the end of a combo. NOTE: an opponent can get out of this air reset if they neutral tech in the air. Overall, Naoto is not a very strong mix-up character, but she does have some tools to work with. Edit no Jutsu: Another good mix-up to use is whenever your send out 5D and your opponent blocks it, you can run up AoA for an overhead or run up empty hop > land > 2A for a low into a combo. If you are willing to burn meter, you can run up and EX Roll through your opponent just before you activate 5DD for an almost instant cross up. -

If I'm not doing anything, I would be down to join in on this Naoto shindig. I'm not very good at finding new tech though so I'm not sure how much I can contribute to the discussion. The alternative doesn't sound so bad either, but I am not much of a drinker so I doubt I would be getting drunk lol. -

Wow, really nice piece of tech. Gonna have to mess around with this and see if there is a good solid way to set up that inescapable set up you show at the end.
