  1. From my (admittedly limited) experience, this matchup is all about using your footsies to their utmost. What you need to remember is that, while Aki may have difficulty getting in, so does Kanji. You've got to dance around him, use a lot of feints, and just in general make the Kanji player unsure when you are going to pressure.
  2. ggs to borthog, lord_cruxis, and rougeyoshi and to anyone else i played in ranked
  3. I only find hop ever useful against Kanji. Because, well, it's Kanji.
  4. I know this isn't really following the format, but I think spacing plays a super important role in this matchup. I find that, as Akihiko, I want to either be right up in her face, or at a distance. Reason being that, at mid-range, Yukiko seems to be able to throw out fans that can hit if you try to approach from either the ground or the air. Granted, you can weave/duck through those, but that position also puts her in prime position to use her persona to blow up any of your other approaches. At least at a distance, the spacing leaves a gap between fan and persona attacks, while giving you more breathing room to make a duck > corkscrew read and using that knockdown to apply some much-needed pressure.
  5. ggs to everyone i played in ranked and special ggs to neo zeromus (i hope i spelled that right `3`) and lastly, i extend my apologies to anyone i may or may not have trolled in lobbies as naoto and kanji <3
  6. ggs to today's assortment of ranked matches
  7. If you're really in need of some oki pressure as Akihiko, end your midscreen combos with sweep instead of corkscrew.
  8. You can definitely meaty with Aki's 2A/5B (5A sometimes whiffs crouching opponents), you just need to be right on top of them (which, unless you are in the corner, probably isn't going to be the case). Also, you need to mixup your wakeup pressure too. You can't just meaty, because a well-timed FA will go right through it every time. For neutral to offensive, especially Akihiko, you need to make good reads. Learning how to move about in the air along with ground is critical to transitioning as well (it is an "air-dasher" after all). Akihiko's normals have bad range, so you really have to get your spacing right and your reads solid in order to get in consistently.
  9. Honestly, I never feel comfortable playing any four-button fighting game unless the layout is: BCD A
  10. Damn ice. I realize they probably went back to the "shake out of it" method because it's supposed to be a status ailment this time around, but it's still as annoying now as it was in ct. Also, is it just me, or does ranked choose between psr, rank, and level at random to decide who to pick for the "stronger than you" setting?
  11. ggs to wingspade and sir-lionheart sorry i had to duck out after only two matches my dad demanded that i go and fix his computer (and he doesn't take no for an answer, lol)
  12. Damn, how can the Akihiko vs Yukiko matchup be so frustrating yet so fun all at the same time? Also, approximately how long does persona break last for?
  13. ggs to heroic legacy and showmeyamoves along with the people i faced in ranked
  14. Sorry I didn't stay longer. Apparently my connection through a fit and I got knocked out of the room. Joined again, but then I figured the same thing would happen anyway, so I just left.
  15. A few hours later, the system mechanics don't feel as awkward anymore, fortunately. Now to actually learn Akihiko so I can be a, you know, halfway-decent player.
  16. Wow, I've had to spend more time getting used to this system than I thought. Though, I usually take a while to get used to new fighting systems, so I guess that really shouldn't surprise me. The game is incredibly fun though, even if it is all day one stuff at the moment. Gonna get to more practicing and really take advantage of all these mechanics.
  17. Well, either way, we should know in the next few hours or so.
  18. I plan to play the hell out of P4U, but that doesn't mean I can't get excited for the next true sequel of a fighting game that I love And again. Amane. I mean, come on!
  19. I think it's just something about multiples of four that are easy to visualize. If you count out eight with one finger, then you just have to add a second hit with another finger after it. Surprisingly easy to grasp.
  20. Jin, Hazama, and Amane All the characters I love are fab. Why is this?
  21. oh you are waaaaaaay too late for that i've already moved to canada
  22. Amane was obviously male from the start. No woman could be that fabulous.
  23. I doubt the Murakumo playstyles will be gone, even if the characters using those playstyles will probably change. Who knows, maybe they'll do more time travel/loop shenanigans and bring Alpha-1 into the game or something, lol
  24. I can't even imagine all the possibilities that would come from Bang meeting Amane for the first time.
  25. Jin just can't auto-pilot his fab anymore. He's got competition :3
