I couldn't get it to connect on some characters (like Ragna) without the dash. I'm pretty sure it is just a matter of not pressing buttons fast enough. I have a tendency to delay stuff out of personal preference (which incidentally, makes it really hard for me to do Noel drive combos). How can you be so cruel as to remind us that our character is dead?

Because it looks cool. And to be fair, I only spent like 20 or 30 minutes trying it before I gave up. I give up pretty quick.

What do you call the things that hang behind Lambda? I call them sword wings but I'm pretty sure that isn't a good term.

It is a matter of distance. Take Carl into training mode and figure out the distance he needs to be in order for him to cross you up.
