Idk when I'll get home. It all depends on how long my Bio lab runs today. I'll let you know when I get home, though.
-
If you are online whenever I get home, I'll play you.
-
The more people the better. :3 Do you have a ride/car?
-
Two more days guys. Wow for the most active thread in Match Finder, this thread is sure quiet.
-
I've been exposed F-Wallachia for ? tier.
-
Fair enough. I chose him because of his badass character design anyway, but that was back on MBAC when he was B tier. At least you are honest.
-
Skye, Nero is top tier.
-
Hazama > Arakune
-
This made my day.
-
If it comes to it, I could pick him up from State, but not back (unless it's to his house). I'm probably gonna get there early to help set up and get some casuals in with whoever else gets there early.

Updated 2nd post with link to SRK.
-
Updated second post with your info Skye. Grendy, you use Johnny in GG right?
-
That's the plan. Free GG/MB will hopefully encourage new players to those games to give them a try, and hopefully build a bigger scene for them.
-
I added your stuff in ShardZ, and I'm assuming we'll see more BBCS and HD volunteers once more people get back from school/work.

Played in Original (4:3) mode. SF Danisen Battle: Danisen Battle is a tournament format in which players compete to reach the highest possible “Dan”. The ranks are 1st Dan through 10th Dan. All players start at 1st Dan, and can only play against opponents that are within 1 Dan of themselves (i.e. a 2nd Dan can fight a 3rd Dan, but not a 4th Dan.) Each match you win will earn you a point. Each match you lose will lose you a point (to a minimum of 0.) Every 3 points you earn will advance you to the next Dan, every 3 points you lose will drop you by a Dan (1st Dan is the lowest). The player at the highest Dan at the end of the season is the winner. If you win a game you can stay on the station and take on another opponent. If you lose or you rank up you have to get up and let someone else have a chance. The purpose of the Dan Battle is to allow us to have a structured environment to practice in. It allows you to play a lot more games against players of similar skill than you are going to be able to play in a regular double elim format. There is no prize for the Dan Battle, but it will allow us to raise the skill level of Mi a lot quicker. Make sure if you win a match to give some tips to the other player. Make sure if you lose a match to ask your opponent what you can improve on. And have fun! Dan battle matches are 2/3 games, 2/3 rounds. SSF4 bracket: This is a regular double elimination event. The brackets are seeded according to the Season 5 rankings (details below). Matches are 2/3 games, 2/3 rounds. Winners finals, losers finals and grand finals are all 3/5 games, 2/3 rounds. If you lose a game you can switch your character. You can switch your ultra if you win or lose. Ranking and Michigan Masters This is a ranking battle series, which means you will be ranked throughout the season based on your performance in each tournament. Points are awarded based on your placing in the bracket: 1st – 8 points 2nd – 5 points 3rd – 4 points 4th – 3 points 5th – 2 points 7th – 1 point This ranking system will be applied to the BB brackets, and the SSF4 brackets. The Dan Battles are separate. Brackets will be seeded according to these rankings. At the end of the season the top 6 players will be invited to participate in the Michigan Masters Exhibition Event. This is a tournament featuring the best players in MI, with a large cash bonus (collected from the league fees from the ranking battles). More details will be posted towards the end of Season 5. Season 5 will be comprised of approximately 6 tournaments (3 months). I’ll see you guys at Gameyard! :D

What we are doing here in MI is like a combination of the ideas that you guys had about ranbats/bi-weeklies. We have BB/GG/MB seperate from the SF games, but it all takes place on the same day, and I am working with the SF community to help improve the whole experience from both ends, and I personally think cooperation between each scene will encourage more people to play games on both sides. On the topic of free ranbats, I decided to have free MB ranbats to help introduce more people to the game without the discouragement of knowing that they might lose money. I'm thinking of doing the same thing with GG as well, but BB will still cost money to get in, but I will explain more on that later. While I think it is a good idea to work cooperatively with the SF community, I don't think it's a bad idea to have events without a SF ranbat, especially if your goal is to have GG or BB be the main event. Like you guys already said, the SF crowd dwarfs us on many occasions, so if you were planning to have a different game be the main event and have SF on the side, SF may unintentionally "take over" just due to the sheer numbers of their scene, so imo the best option is to have some events have the scenes cooperate, and other events be seperate. Back to my reason for putting an entry fee on BB. I decided to do this so I could hold 10% of the total collected to be saved on the side, and then it could be used to help fund our scene. Some examples would be to help buy recording equipment or to fund someone's trip to a major (who would get this prize would be determined by who had the most points at the end of the season of ranbats, but our local community is tight-knit enough around here to give it to whoever needs it most out of the top scoring members). This also encourages our scene to both grow and go out to majors and support the scene on a larger scale. I look foreward to seeing some of you guys at tournaments in the future. EDIT- @ doragonkoroshi: I will probably go to Frosty Faustings too, along with several others from MI. I hear it's got one of the better MB turnouts in the Midwest.

That's not exactly what I meant. I'm basically saying that the community needs to put a little more effort into things to increase the chances of getting a spot on the stream, so our games get noticed more. For example, I think the St1ckBuG bi-weeklies are doing a great thing for the community, by only playing and streaming our games, and it has already seemed to increase in popularity since the previous event.

I can understand Marvel getting the stream time that it did, mainly because this is probably the last time that there will be such a tournout for MvC2 with 3 right around the corner, but I agree with 10Stars that not streaming BB can hurt the community, especially because the LK-Zidane match sounded like it was hype. Anyway, it sounded like the tournament went really well, and that the only issue being discussed (other than the GG bracket thing, but that's not my point) is the stream time. I think the DL community needs to start building up hype similar to that of other scenes. The whole EC v. WC thing was building up a bit of hype here on DL, but it kinda died down recently, probably due to lack of enough members of each coast showing up to the same event. Basically what I'm saying is that our community needs to start building up more hype both at tourneys and on the net, both to draw some attention to the games, and hopefully bring in some newcomers.

I agree with Zong. This tourney basically invited the international players to come to the U.S. and compete in this tourney. I can see why some of the crowd was cheering for the US in the 5v5, but that is no reason to show disrespect to the international team. A community should always be respectful to its guests. To give an example, imagine going to visit a friend from Canada, and when you get there, you play a card game with your friend's family, and in the end when you end up losing instead of thanking you for coming, they laugh at your performance at the game and throw tea in your face. The crowd that was responsable for this needs to either change their attitudes at these events or go back to sitting around at home watching streams.
