whohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Carnage scissors can go through Legacy Edge (lotta swords super) Just don't be full screen, you can sorta go through some of them, but you'll just get hit by the rest. The trick is that you have to do CS kinda late, I don't get the sword pattern of her super, but there's a gap where Ragna can slide through the bottom fast enough before another low sword comes through. It uses ragna's invincibility to avoid the top swords. Once you see Nu start up her super, start buffering the 632146 and wait till that circle comes out and then press the D button I think the distancing also matters on when you activate CS, play around with it.

OK, one frame check and here we go

Legacy Edge has a sword pattern that hits around 4 different heights. In ragna terms from highest to lowest, they can hit his hair, face, gut, or knees.

The exact pattern for Legacy edge is.

Gut, Face, hair, knees, gut, knees, face, gut, hair, face, hair, gut, knees, face, knees, face, hair, gut, face, knees, gut

What we want is to avoid the first sword (Gut) by using ragna's invincibility to let it go through and hit nu before the first knee sword comes out since CS goes under the face and hair height swords. Ragna's carnage scissors is not safe against projects (projectiles=top tier) so therefore the knee height swords will fuck him up.

Gut,Carnage scissors activated and Gut sword went through Face, hair, gotta hit nu at this pointknees, gut, knees, face, gut, hair, face, hair, gut, knees, face, knees, face, hair, gut, face, knees, gut

because after that, there is a stream of 2 swords (about 4 frames) that are not knees for ragna to go through. Each sword takes about 2 frames to hit.

But if Rags is at full screen, he wouldn't have enough time to get to nu before the first knee sword comes out and will stop ragna in his dash

You can mess up the CS timing by letting the 2nd sword whiff through you and you still have like 2-3 frames to get to nu, but you better be closer to her or the knee swords will hit

Edit: I was wrong about some info. changed it

Why not just IB like crazy for that free CA or longer blockstring later in the match?

Keeping the momentum is pretty damn important. If you lose it or never get it, it might cost you the round.

Um...keeping? If you're in a position that Nu can throw out a safe super, what momentum do you have? :/

CA = Momentum though. They will let you null any silly mix up she wants to throw toward the end of the super as well. You see her come forward, CA and get to making that momentum you want.

if you catch her with a CS thru her sword super you effectively took her momentum away that the player using her was trying to take back by using sword super (or sustain it) thats very important since CS + combo and good oki/burst bait will end the match for v13 because of the terrible life bar

I don't know why you would prefer a CA over a CS hitting Nu in the face.

But how reliably you would be able to do this is another question, I remember trying this a long time ago and it's pretty nit-picky with the range and timing.

As reliable as doing CS between 5DD and 4D. I find it easier since you have all day to buffer in the CS, all you gotta do is wait for that halo of swords to come out and COUNT FRAMES (press d). Nah, it's pretty easy, just make sure you have the right spacing for it and mess around with the timing. I can do it 7/10 times, but I only messed with it for about 20 minutes, so I bet you can do it pretty consistently if you put time into it

Yeah, but odd are if shes just tossin' supers, she's a shitty Nu and you shouldn't be losing anyway :D

There are people who toss out supers because it's pretty much painless pressure after a knockdown. You're supposed hit confirm the super into a combo, but whatever, it's still a good super just to use out of nowhere, like what are you going to do? Jump up and barrier and IB to get meter? That's really all you can do. Or if you're just standing and blocking the super, you have to deal with the mixup that nu will throw at you

When playing Nu I try and wait for them to screw up. If they don't, then I lose. Sucks to have a matchup like this, v-13 gets to run away all day and throw out random swords (And heaven forbid you block and eat unreactionable crossup). You have to inch your way through the air, one mistake and you're down 1/3 of your health and back where you started. What the fuck. When I play against v-13 I feel as if i'm playing a mini-game. Like i'm jumping through electrically charged hoops to reach the actual fight. Except the fucker on the other side of the hoops keeps moving further and further away. Did I mention both your and her bursts are her best offensive tool? :vbang:

High level v-13 rarely blocks low when you get up on her. I know that Ragna's D-loop is hax against most people, but Nu can act pulsar away, so throwing lows is a better offensive move, since they so rarely block low at start. A friend of mine who picked her up and got good always blocks low since I always come in that way, but since you can cancel into high and mid attacks you can either aim for guard crush and bait a burst, or take about a forth of her health away after contact. Granted its better to attempt with 1/2 meter, else she might CH and then your missing half your hp instead. -.-

I've been fighting another Nu a lot lately since I got this game, so I've gotten better at avoiding/getting in through swords. The problem I have is that once I usually do get in, I end up eating a 6C or something, which sends me into a combo and suddenly I'm halfway across the screen again only I'm missing half my health. So really what I'm asking is what's the best time to rush in, and what can I do once I'm there that will beat her 5C or 6C.

Tell me someone got more info on this matchup. I just got my copy of CT literally two days ago and I gotta face a Nu-13 next week. Aside from IBing like a mofo, I got nothing.

best advice i got in this match is never IAD and instant block like mad...

and when you get in always mix it up and never let relent.

Use smart zoning tactics(lolragna)

-IB as much as you can while looking for obvious low/mid mixups

-FEED off your 22C oki, it's your best game you can play for your mixups on nu

-if you can fit it in at anytime post-burst, BK combos can restore the majority of health you lost before you got in(although if you're getting in post-burst on a smart nu, chances are they never expected you to get in again)

-make sure all of your knockdowns leave them close, doing HF-Tsuika midscreen is an easy way to lose your pressure game.

other than that it's pretty much smart play, I don't expect you to pull off IB 5DD-CS this early into learning the game but having that tool to keep them scared is also very nice, good luck.

Posted

I just started learning Ragna and I can't depend upon HF and the finisher vs Nu. That's fine. What about ending combos using ID into KD's? Too much leeway there?

Posted

probably want to be ending combos with GH or 22C into mixup GH can some times give you a airthrow techtrap but it is BB so.... yeah lol

Posted

GH is good post-burst because of how many air unblockables you can catch them in, but that's also a guessing game for you to call how they're gonna tech, it could go either way.

in all honesty just try and get yourself into a 22C situation as much as possible, even if you're sacrificing some damage to stay in, you NEED to stay in

also you can practice tech throws as most nus are in the mindset of tech quick and get the fuck out, usually not expecting pressure from air techs and rolls.

Whohwhowhowhwoh. Watch out for the IB in the air, if you fuck up once, she gets a big BnB off. Try to approach slowly in the air and such

best advice i got in this match is never IAD

That's kinda wrong, when you're full screen, she has to sometimes guess if you're going to jump with 6d or going to dash in with 5d, a mind game that is definitely not in your favor. But if you can guess right, you can get in and try to punish her whiff (very hard)

Try to IB as much as you can without risking messing up. When she does that projectile super, instant block like crazy since it gives so much meter. With 50%, make her stop doing 4Ds and her projectile super by going right through it, shutting down two of her options. Then again that's not saying much cause she has tons of other stuff up her sleeve.

And the most important thing of all, just roll the dice and see if you get can a lucky 7

Edit: Wait, no. 7's are pretty common. See if you can roll for snake eyes. That's what the match up is like

I really hate this match-up. You really need to be like a ninja and block everything.

I long for CS. Then no more top-tier bulls*** from V-13 players who only play her because she is the easiest S-tier character.

Ragna still has a hard time getting in on a zoning Lamda. Just saying.

But the moment Ragna gets a Belial edge in, Lamda might be dead
