CopperDabbit Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 This thread is to be dedicated to defeating the self appointed Hero of Kagutsuchi: Bang Shishigami. Renowned for his over-the-top character, nail based weapons and an indominable fighting spirit, how can he be absorbed into the Hive? Discuss.
Kicks Posted July 10, 2009 Posted July 10, 2009 Air throw if he jumps to much, especially during guard strings. Lots of his stuff leaves you teching neutral if you tech early, so be ready for that. Barrier guard his block strings. He has no range so it really pushes him out. You can combo into a grab if he uses his auto-guard Drive moves to block your attack. Be wary when he has 50% or more meter because his super is mega strong. Get ready to block if he throws out 3 nails, because he can dash right afterward and be all up in your face before the nails are even done hitting.
CopperDabbit Posted July 10, 2009 Author Posted July 10, 2009 Another good point of note is that his 2D is damn near useless against a dive-cancel jB. Typically what happens is that he'll autoguard three or four hits (for whatever reason he can't teleport during this) and you land and block the 2D, which is horribly unsafe on block. Due to this, they'll try to jump up, or maybe do a j.D thinking that they would have hit you, and a 5C -> air combo will ruin their day. Also, most bangs LOVE to combo into command grab. Keep an eye out for this whenever you're getting hit. Additionally, due to the lack of damage Bang is capable of producing, they have to try and keep pressure on you at all times. Reversal Super can be a good tool in defeating this. If they block it, you'll take 2-3k damage true, but they have to be wary from that point on when you have meter. This allows for reversal backdashes that actually work (OMG!) and wakeup -> throw as valid options AFTER you have them scared of the super.

Just a small correction here, while combos into the command grab would solve some of Bang's poor damage output problems, due to the ease of their techability, it is more recommended to finish the combo with a 623B fire punch or j.C
Manas Ayus Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 I don't know why there isn't more content here. I've been having a lot of trouble with this match-up when it comes to high-level play. I run into Bang's on ranked that have 80% ratios and upon playing I realize why. I will talk a little bit about what I learned. Bang can use his drive move on your clouds to teleport, so even if you're on the other side of the screen, if you have a homing cloud be wary of his options. I fought a Bang who was saavy enough to not only use this to get out of my aerial distortion but punish me for doing it. At the start of a fight, be aware that Bang has a few options to punish you for super jumping. The most common will probably be his 3-nail toss; or he will use his drive if you come down with 2A,2B, or 2C. When he's laying the pressure on you, try to get off an instant block and punish with a 5A or 2A into mix-up ending in curse. Once he's cursed his options become limited, but be wary of his nails and the invincibility he has on his distortion drives.

Haha that was me :D But yeah, also, if you don't double jump, Bang can catch up to you if you're throwing a cloud immediately. Most Bangs expect Arakune to just superjump back and throw a cloud, it's just the most common thing Arakune does for a starter since it's pretty safe. So be wary of nails and other shenanigans. Also, don't always jump on block, it can be pretty punishable with command throw which will take off a big chunk of HP though it will put you in the air again, but yet again, you need to be wary of teching. If you neutral tech an air command throw, Bang can just superjump up and command throw you again.
WUT Posted August 16, 2009 Posted August 16, 2009 Quit being pansies. Get health advantage, summon cloud that hovers on you, wait for bang to kill himself. He can't even guard point it safely. Bang has no safe option to hit you with that curse cloud on you. Just don't eat random nails and you'll be fine

Just don't eat random nails and you'll be fine or better yet, here's some better advice; get him to 0% health before he does it to you guy, this thread is for useful strategies. "getting health advantage" and "waiting for him to kill himself" doesn't count as a useful strategy. i'm more than sure a high level bang isn't going to go and kill himself and fall for such an easy thing

It's a perfectly viable gameplan. Sorry it isn't as in depth as "j.a beats any aerial normal bang does at the start except for a jumping back j.b, which loses to j.6a". Setting the cloud that homes on you severely limits his options. And I do mean severely. Anything bang does outside of throwing nails (which you can always just guard, meaning he's wasting resources), can be punished. The safest option he has for Attacking and removing said cloud is to do a 5d, which you can throw. Just be sure to barrier guard in the air if you opt to jump it or are already in the air, as it's grounded. This fight isn't hard. Just don't be predictable when he's pressuring you (aka dont jump whenever there's a gap), and create space. There's a myriad of moves he can't punish on guard due to his poor range (ad fd j.b, dives are most notable), so have fun pressuring him if you choose to.
Reioumu Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Yeah, this matchup is like 7-3 in Arakune's favor for a reason. He severely limits Bang's options, can't be punished on most of his moves, etc.
