Saimon Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Okay, I need some major help in fighting Rachel, with her wind, frogs, cannon, electricity, etc. I mean, it's hard enough to try and get a curse on her (at least for me), and then she has all these stupid ass traps she can use and her wind to keep you and clouds/bugs away. Please put any anti-Rachel strats should go in here, and will be appreciated. EDIT: Rachel Alucard: [Originally taken from a post by Mike Z] Rachel's frog will set off Arakune's air super, which (if it happens) is both safe and unblockable if Rachel is anywhere in the air above the puddle, since the bees go all the way up the screen. Use it if you see a frog... 1) Only throw out clouds while she does not have a pumpkin on screen. If the pumpkin is out, and she's not in hit or block stun, chances are very good that she'll be able to get in with a free combo, due to the additional recovery on landing from summon the cloud. 2) If you do manage to get a cloud out, and it's the one that follows the enemy around, many rachels like to use the air frog to eat the cloud, or 6A it. Against most characters, this is a viable tactic that's low risk and high-reward. However, against Arakune, this can be very dangerous because while she's focusing on the cloud, you can force her to either land on a j.D, or poke with the j.D to hit her 6A on recovery. And then the madness begins. 3) Trying to outzone rachel is a losing battle. It's just a good idea to not even try and out projectile her. Instead, get her marked, and then get in and pressure her until you get a guard break or she guesses wrong and you get a free combo. 4) Due to how overpowered her 6A is, it's probably best to not burst until you're just about to die. You're going to need to barrier the 6A, unless you some kind of savant when it comes to instant blocking, which I know I'm not.
Senkei Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 ahem... this is the rachel thread sir Played Xaqshinor and Alzarath today(who both play rachel)... hot damn this bitch is strong!! I did enjoy setting off my air super from the frog... big time lulz.
Shinsua Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 I need to try that some time. . . And ya, its been said over and over, her 6A, I believe, is one of the more obvious over powered mechanics o_- But thats just a fraction of what she has up her sleeves. . .
mynusdono Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 <- XAQ posting Rachel was all Alzarath, Yellow Jin was me, Carl was Chaz. GGs man, Rachel is BS x_x
Abstract Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 So, seeing as how I have no Rachel experience, and we don't have a Rachel thread, I thought I'd start one. What's the best way of tackling a solid Rachel player? How do you approach? How do you cover your rush down once your curse her? What's the best way to curse her?
thegame4ever Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 You have to be really careful and patient in this match. You cannot outzone rachel. Frog + pumpkin + poles, she can really trap you, as well when you're in the air her pole projectiles can hit you, and she has an EXCELLENT anti-air with 6A and superjump umbrella if you're too high. Take it slow and easy, and when you see the oppurtunity summon a cloud. To advance if rachel throws a projectile and you've read where it's going, dash forward. Jumping is not a good idea since that projectile would hit you. Also her wind will affect you in the air, so dive to mess up the trajectory sometimes, but it's a risky move. More on this matchup as the Rachel players here improve.
Manas Ayus Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Rachel is one of the only fights I stay close to the ground on, her 236 beans are kind of daunting and they always hit me when I'm doing an j4B>Mix-up. Oftentimes what I will do though is 214A(to bait her into launching a bean) and then 2C. I'll get off a curse with 2D from there or 5D on her recovery if I'm feelin' saucy.
Schank Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Awesome I'll be sure to try the 214a fake out. All of Arakune's 214 moves are soooooo nice and finding a use and setup for all of them is a great challenge in my gameplay.
Abstract Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Terribly sorry everyone. I can't believe I missed this thread. Anyways, how useful is going for jD trades in this matchup, ala V-13?
Shinsua Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Ahahaha Honestly, for this match up, I discourage using bees as your main offense If youre able to constantly mix-up, via fake-outs and teleport, a Rachel player has very few ways to get a hold of you, especially seeing how Arakune is quite possibly the most drifted character by her wind drive Its just a matter of you being able to use her wind to your advantage. . .so. . .my suggestion. . .get your aerial timings down, and cackle as she whisks you to her At least. . .coming from a melee Arakune, anyway Gahahaha
Soniti Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 As a Rachel player I can confirm that Arakune is the most affected by Rachel's wind out of the whole cast.
Shinsua Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Best thing about that too, is that it can screw up Rachel's combos as well Tehe~
SOVIET AFRO Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Best thing about that two, is that it can screw up Rachel's combos as well Tehe~ My thoughts exactly, even though this match can get out of hand for our loveable blobbi, using the mind games of "omg, i can get a corner and do half a life bar with one opening" on either side can be very satisfying. Especially on full screen reversals
Shinsua Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 To be honest, I dont think Ive ever been into the corner while fighting Rachel unless I was the one doing so xP (that and for screen hoping of course) But yes, it is quite satisfying. . . I go alittle crazy with the bird in this set up, but, hell, if you wanna propel me into your face, go right ahead And I cant believe I used the word 'two' instead of 'too' in my last post. . . Anywho~ The main point of this post was to say 28 â–º 214C â–º 2C Is what I normally begin begin with After that, dont start off with it again You should have enough time during your match to think of another way to start your second match
Skye Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Contrary to MikeZ's comment on staying on Rachel's ass when the curse is on, I'd advise against it, the chair will knock you off any pressure you're attempting.

No you do stay on her ass, when approaching her with j.B summon the bugs before you hit so if she does chair she's hit either way, forcing her to block, then go into 2AA trap etc.

PhantomX Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 B might as well be released anyway when you're jBing, toss in some C/6A bugs on the way.
thegame4ever Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 The traditional B/C bugs? BCAD, so bitch is GROUNDED. When cursed, that's when you outzone rachel, so make use of it greatly.
