Anakron Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I guess it's based off of experience. I don't have too much of a hard time with Slayer, Eddie or Testament since alot of people play them. Baiken is rather difficult though but I know how to deal with her. I think I'm going to say Venom.

Atleast with Millia shes a girl character and you can treat her as so(SHES GOING TO GET DROPPED FROM THE SKY FROM ANYTHING COUNTERHIT;) ) I think Faust still keeps all his advantages against slayer... its just a tricky matchup to learn, you really have to force the slayer to sit the fuck down(ie 5k hits his tall standing hitbox so its amazing for counterhits especially in the corner; 2hs catches dandy; BOMB BAGS etc).. Testament is retarded opening match will always go like this.. Testament forward exe beasts.. I LOSE unless I 66k which is still super hard to do but then I lose to 6k anyways... which loses to 2d but 2d loses to 2hs/forward exe beast. ARGHHHHHH :vbang: :vbang:

You have to remain at 5s range but chase dandys with 662hs I always get the mother fucker when I do that.. I have talked with Marlin and he even said on the A-cho tip of the week they used Faust vs Tesatment as an example of one of fausts hardest matchups. You can not use 5s in the match.. like you can but its not a solid poke. j.2k vs forward exe beast is hard because you have to get alot of height in alot of ranges(it changes because of the fuckin exe wave) Testament is safe too unless you preempt the counterhit(WHICH IS WHAT GETS ME KILLED IN THE FIRST PLACE) and all he needs is another otg exe beast to finish your shit(I mean it too badlands goes forever on faust:psyduck:) I like to get in the perfect range between forward and back exe beast and poke from there.. that seems to be fausts 3s Chun Li sweet SPOT. 6k also beats j.2k. I don't mean just any Testament will rape me though, I play Testament all the time and when I was in Philladelphea I got to play Jamie a hell of a lot. Jamies Testament is what made me take a whole new approach to the matchup, she had notes from Mint from EVO on what to do with alot of the matchups and Ill tell you what. HE WAS DEAD FUCKIN ON FAUST. The dude I've been playing forever in fighting games plays Testament and hes really good too but a conservative Testament who knows how much reward Testament is given in the match up will realllly fuck you up. Anakron Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Yeah, Testament is definitely hard. A lot of patience is required in that match. In a war of bomb bags and exebeasts, exebeasts win. I'm not too worried about Testament at far range but then again, if you stay too far, Testy will eventually lure you in. Testament just has plenty of tools. I throw ALOT of bomb bags when fighting Testicle. Like Akira stated, j.H is awesome against Testament because it's farther than his j.D which is a bitch. Out of curiosity, does 5K beat out random badlands?
Senkei Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 regarding Makoinfused... even tho he lives in FL now he's from Chi-town this is also the guy that took out blacksnake and juice but i forgot you didn't go to final round him and malice have been friends for awhile and he basically taught mako how to play i share the same frustrations with you but on the end with just his slayer now moving on to testement i went to MD and i played jamie.....jamie's teste is good and you can tell the matchup exp and tricks paid off but it wasn't impossible ...then again i have gotten alot better with that match up since then and i couldn't play jamie as much as i wanted but yeah i get what your saying a little bit but i will say i never have a problem with landing j2k over fwd exe beast tho Anakron: 5k does beat out badlands if timed properly

I wouldn't say Test is Faust most difficult match. Chipp and Millia rank above him there. Problem is most of you haven't had the opportunity to play a decent Chipp, or even Millia. You don't get many FaustxChipp match vids from Japan either. Its just very difficult to keep the correct distance from Testament to where you want to fight him. Too close you get forward beast, and long range you get far beast. At your best distance Testament can easily avoid your long range pokes, 5S, 2HS with backdashing.
Senkei Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 i've seen a few and faust usually loses that matchup vs chipp millia not so much because when i watch it RF kinda dominates also from the vid RF looked like he was playing scared there he didn't use any useful j2k except for once and that put him into the advantage/plus he made a few costly mistakes......and with shounen you cannot do that
Yggdrasill Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Anakron? You say Venom? I've never had a problem with any Venom's before, though I have only played 2. 214+K saves me from both his over-drives. With Dark Angel it isn't saying much, but I somehow see Red Hail coming, in fact, 214+K rips him apart in general, avoids his balls, I even use it to get out of the way of 623+HS. I guess I don't really know the skill of the Venom's I have played though. :8/: I have a harder time with Zappa, Millia, and as already said Testament.
Anakron Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 You're kidding, right? If you can actually 214K out of his over drives, that Venom player is definitely ass (he's supposed to lock you down with it). I haven't played the Venom player I played in a while though. Zappa is annoying because of his ghosts. It's hard to zone in with the ghosts and long range against Zappa isn't that good. Mid range is best on Zappa. Although if you can be more specific, I'll tell you more about what you need help with. I only played one Millia in my lifetime and it wasn't really a good one. All I have to say is, no pressure. Don't let her pressure you. Keep in mid range, etc. Watch for the Millia to fuck up so you can 6HS her into a RC combo so you can GGPO her.
dice Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 To stand a good solid chance against testament players I think youv generally got to learn to IB or even Backslash those exe beast's. Especially in the corner you've literally got to be patient and look for openings, IMO its not easy to rush down testament. Air bomb bags can get beat out by skulls recovering from pogo to standing causes so much delay that testament can badland on reaction if close enuff. but this again can work to your advantage and you can bait out badlands and do "going my way" to beast it out, Testment can even warrant a hole bunch of pokes from far range, 41236k becomes unsafe at this point Iv struggles to with testament players and its not easy, and the only real solid piece of advise i can say is dont forget to FD in the air even after something has hit you those double testament slash thing he does eats faust in the air. When your both on different ends of the screen you can pogo and then 5d your item throw, at least this is a safe method of avoiding the back beast. Be aware as well when you throw meteors and land mines because of the warrant. Iv leared that youve either got to be in their face and apply sum kind of pressure, weathr if its 2k or just jump in 5p,5k, generally you dont want to give them the space to warrant. Or if your at far range FD all the way weather your in the air or ground. sry my ideas are messy but theyre comming to me as i recall my matches
Senkei Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 slashback exe beast FTW it works i've done it a few times....esp. when the do 6k to fwd exe beast....and repeat over and over again oh and yggdrasill i made a little tips and tricks post on zappa ..... he's really not that hard at all this was like from almost a year ago but it still pretty much is the guidlines tips against zappa - your basic idea agaisnt zappa is to keep his orbs to a minimum and zone him out -****2p really works agaisnt zappa's summons and rushdowns...***Faust's best weapon against zappa****** -5k also helps out when it comes to him coming in from the air (and 6p) -2HS works great as a good poke and keeps zappa way -Far slash isn't that great agaisnt regular zappa since he is so low to the ground so make sure you don't use this until he either has the sword or ghost summoned -41236k isn't that great ether since zappa can run under it so using it in your zoning when he's trying to rush down isn't smart. *- very important -* do not exchange hits with zappa when he does his summons the more hits he gets from it regardless if you stopped the summon he gets orbs...3 a pop and that only means one thing...the closer the time is for blue man to come out *Raou* )-Ghosts-( -prob the most difficult thing to deal with next to raou - make sure to throw out items in during the holes of his strings - zappa is going to try from a medium to long range distance to shoot out ghosts since Faust's 2p is so deadly to zappa when he's close. so in order to counter this you need to start making him guess....use 214k and 214s and when he tries to predict do 214p just to screw around with him and let him know you can get to him and he can't just stand there and shoot ghosts all day....(*learning the frc's to these really helps and i insist on doing so since it takes away the option of getting hit*) -Far slash is really great at medium range if zappa tries any bouncing ghosts or air ghosts from that range so use this to keep those pesty ghosts away. -when the ghosts items are out you really have to pay attention since the banana peel is a low and the flower pot hover right over your head....the pebble is bad also since it covers the ground and any tiny jumps so make sure to block and react accordingly to avoid these things. )-Dog-( - Get in the air as mush as possible and throw exploding bags....makes sure you stay out of this things range because it can lead you into some nasty corner pressure and 2-3 unblockable setups. - when its hard to stay in the air which it is sometimes, wait for and opening and sneak in a 2p -also a very important tip...i know to some players this is obvious but after the dog attacks he has a period of time were it can be destroyed...he can also be killed when he starts sleeping and turns little...so make sure if a zappa player misses an attack with the dog make him pay for it and take it away... -2s is also a very good weapon agaisnt the dog because of it range and priority so if you see the dog trying to move it make it pay with a 2S or 2HS )-Sword-( -this is a very deceiving weapon of zappa's since it can change directions and can go from a high to a low very quickly....it also has a DP capibilty which can be very effective agaisnt your jump in's so be weary of the swords range and capability. - farslash really helps out agaisnt zappa in this mode because when doing moves with the sword his body moves to more of a standing position so his hitbox is a much better target than it was before . - i forget the name of the move but when zappa moves in with the sword and then sends it past your body you do have a chance to attack depending on three things 1.P-guard or instant block...this allows you to attack or jump out of this move since it has mix-up capabilities 2.slashback- it does the same thing as #1 but more risk invovled 3.5Dust....this is only for when he does this move too close...since the invicliblilty goes through the first part of the move and completly sends him up into the air for good damage and the loss of a summon. )-RAOU-( - block for god sakes block...you are not going to beat out RAOU he's wayyyyy too powerful...no risk is really worth it at all since the amount of damage you can deal compared to his is not even close. - try to keep your distance and score in some pokes and knockdowns and items really help out so be careful your not caught being retarded because you will eat some powerful attack in the face. - your best tactic against him is blocking you ass off and waiting for that scary fucker to go away.....oh yeah and don't be too scared also into completely blocking...if the zappa player is smart and realizes he can't mix you up with any high or lows...he just gonna run in and throw ya....this can't happen or you can kiss your life goodbye all in all i play against an excellent zappa player all the time and at first this match-up really annoyed me but now i am alot more comfortable with it and im not so confused when all these things that aren't mine are flying everywhere
