DarthTrey Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I don't really run into Rachel very often and when i do i'm constantly playing scared as i don't know what to expect. any advice other than she's got a huge hit box and the traditional "zoning" responses?
Hi-C Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 I've played several different styles of Rachael. My friend who scares the hell out of me by setting up lightning rods (no biggie, just zone him to death) and then winds over to me and cross ups using... I think C? Its where she comes straight down and her dress becomes a massive ass spike. He proceeds to go melee on me till his meter is good for distortion/forces me into the lightning rods/I knock him around. Other Rachaels are very good at zoning. Switching between a melee offensive to a defensive set up. They usually die with the latter. They try to limit themselves in the air. Otherwise every person who has Rachael on their card switches when they see my friends Tager d-card. So... I'm usually fighting a Jin. XP
Radian Posted July 16, 2009 Posted July 16, 2009 Most Rachels will try to get a counter hit with the fork since it leads to a huge chain of wind combos that will force you into the wall then they'll can combo using the frog. No matter what Rachel does she will eventually either start with a tk pumpkin into wind forcing you into a block string or use the fork on the ground while using 2CD to catch you off guard with a low hit. If you block 2CD it will go into her block string and free mixup game which will more than likely put you close to the wall. Then it restarts with trying to get the fork on CH again. This strategy is used since it can potentially beat out Nu's sword zoning game. If Rachel is trying to end combos with their lighting rod then you can be 80% sure that she will combo it into a super. I found that if you can instant block the pumpkin you can get 2C on CH a get a free combo. This would put Rachel where you want her and then you get your zoning game.
Se7enFrost Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I played a very good rachel the other day and my advice to anyone is DEAD ANGLE I cannot stress this enough, do not let her start the mixup game the draculoli bitch is infamous for that and quite frankly it's annoying. After the dead angle your job is to keep her back and punish her for throwing out those rods or pumpkins ( cuz she will try it ) If the rods are on stage avoid being.....free, if you move to much against a good rachel player they seem to have some magical fucking foresight and they blow the rods (and you )up resulting in a free air combo, ( or frog if she's close ) When she does her.....J.2c (i think...the one where she becomes a giant spike. ) 2C her if you can't dead angle.
wuku Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 She's going to pumpkin and you are going to block. she's going to corner you and 3 poles setup will kill you. If you meet really good rachel expertize on the corner oki, you can do nothing except dead angle. If you're cornered, just use the dead angle before the pole is setting up or you can prey the rachel player drops the setup. The good news is there are few Rachel players are doing really well on that setup.
Dangle Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 like wuku basically said, watch your corners. Another thing that helps is to use her wind against her when possible, move with it at times to keep spacing, and the character specifics on rachael output A LOT of damage, as long as you watch your corners and know how to output as much damage as possible on her, its not a terrible fight, hard, but not terrible.
JanineGrant2 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 i was playing as V-13 in Arcade mode on easy (on the PSP) and I ran across Rachel and I could not figure out any way to beat her. Any ideas?
