Hello everyone!

I've read on the forums and the wiki that everyone finds instant kills useless. I don't think so that they are of absolutely no value, and I know there's some way to land them easily. However, my prob is, to how to do so. I'll write down the IK-s of chars that I play and tell you what I think about it, and maybe you guys can give me tips about them.

Napalm Death : Now this is one I found quite useless. Whenever I try to use it against my friend when he jumps in (he mains Venom) he always beats it with his j.HS. Doesn't this one have invuln frames?

May and the Jolly Crew / I'm scared (Zappa)... : These are the best ones imo. Their status as unblockables pretty much screws up overly defensive opponents, which my friend is (I've landed I'm scared, Zappa's IK like three times now.)

Rising Force: I find it useful when the opponent whiffs a standing D or uses a long startup projectile move (Use Dark Angel, and you'll regret it!), but nothing else.

Seventh Sign / This Week's Climax / Dizzy's IK : lol

Joker Trick:  I really like it's air unblockable property, my friend doesn't really know how to / uses FD, so he's screwed when I am in IK mode already.

X- Laser: Wow. I can just dash under the Venom ball for a free IK!

I-no's IK : I find this IK one of the better ones : Fast startup, I found it having invuln frames, I once had about 60 HP left and my friend had about 300 then I landed this against him!

So... is there any way to utilize IK-s effectively? Punish situations / slow moves? Maybe a jump in or airdash attempt?

Also, off topic- but how do I FRC Millia's S Disc? I reckon some sick stuff could be done with it!

The most common use that I've seen IK's used for is in both +R and XRD by May. Getting a stagger on an opponent using a counter-hit 6H usually gives you enough time to IK them, and it happens even in tournament situations. Apart from that, in Guilty Gear you will rarely see them used, and usually most characters don't have good ways to setup into them, so landing it is something that will rarely happen.

As for FRC's, go into training mode and turn on the input display (Since you said FRC I'm going to assume this is for +R since the RC system is different in XRD), When the bar flashes blue, that's the move FRC point. It might take you a while to get the timing down but apart from that there's nothing else to it other than practice.

Also, specifically for Millia's S disc FRC, that just makes the move a feint (unless there is some 1f timing I'm missing to make the disc actually come out first). The H disc FRC is useful on paper for safety, but most people I've seen only use H disc for knockdown pressure, rather than in neutral, so it isn't FRCed. FB disc is the one typically used in neutral (and even then I don't see it that often), as it is the safest (though not safe in pressure, which its FRC does help with. That FRC is also fairly easy, just hit the input right after the disc input and it should work, though it may negative edge the disc input and summon 2 discs on top of one another for 75 tension).

My guess is that in #R Millia players would use H disc FRC to get a safer disc for zoning, and then AC added the FB disc and H disc FRC became obsolete.

you can also use iks vs ABA. When her transformation bar empties, she is forced into a power down animation that leaves her wide open. Her bar also drops by about 30% when you knock her down. Thus you can force her to powerdown and have an IK waiting for her.

Outside of this and the dizzy situation mentioned above, yeah IKs are pretty useless.

We mainly talk about tournament play here, so "oh my friend doesn't know how to FD" is not a valid justification for calling an IK "usable"

Remember, when in IK mode, you will eventually lose health as if you were poisoned, so players will just run away till you have next to no life, then chip you to death (since you can't FD while in IK mode).

If we're talking IKs in +R, just get someone in to faint status... some are easier to get in that state than others, though going IK restores their recovery faster.   Even so, even with Potemkin who has one of the slowest IK's in the game, once he's in it, he can bait people in to attacking him and they can eat it.

I think Ky has one of the fastest IKs in the game, so he can get a way with a lot of stun edge shenanigans.  (I also spam his 5H a lot as that has a lot of stun value).

Oh yeah and EX Order Sol is ridiculous after a Tyrant Rave in to Dustloop.  Easy IK in to "All Guns Blazing" there.

As for GGXrd: If your meter is Full or at 50% and the opponent only has a few bits of health left and it's the last round, your Tension guage will have a "golden aura" about it, and you can do a "slow IK activation" (which freezes everything around you including your opponent), this can be used during certain combos or even when the opponent is dizzied.

Also some characters can feint their IK startups, like Ky can do his 3H which is similar to his IK poke, so even despite the super flash telling when the real one is coming out, you can still play mind games with people in that state.
