Well you probably realize this but you're really bad. But don't feel bad about that, everyone was there at some point, and learning is half the fun. The biggest things for you to work on at this point are learning the properties of all of your moves (normals and specials), getting some solid basic combos down, and getting your execution down. Training mode is a really big help so you'll want to spend some time there, but there's no substitute for playing other people. Playing the AI really isn't that helpful to be honest, you aren't going to learn good strategies or habits from it, but you might be able to practice doing your combos in a 'live' environment if nobody else is around to play.

Other good things for you to do are to read up in the Baiken forums here (scroll way down the forum list) for some good info. Also read the GG guide here: http://www.dustloop.com/ggac/. Some of it might be too heavy or way over your head so just take it in pieces.

You'll also want to try and watch some match videos of other players to get an idea of what they do, what combos they land, and so on. Youtube should have tons of them if you search.

Just remember that getting good takes a long time and it won't happen without a lot of practice and play. Check the Match Finder forums to see if anyone else lives near you (someone probably does). Going to meets or tournaments is a really good way to get a better feel for the game. No matter how much you've played with your friends, your first tournament will no doubt still be a real shock for you.

You should post in the baiken forums! it's generally not too active but we do read it daily and respond if something comes up. I don't have time right this moment but i'll watch your vid later and post some feed back!

Yea, Im no stranger to getting shocked at tourney's since I also play smash competitively, in fact I just got back from evo XD. Thanks for being honest with your critique, I'll go and read up on that link you gave me and go check out the baiken forums.

Your friend is a button masher yeah? Stop jumping like crazy. Learn to bait his attacks. Thats what your counter system is for. Learn and use your mat. If you launch with tatami (such as :21) please do not start with a j.K.--- Do j.P>j.S>j.P>j.D----or j.P>j.S>j.D ----or j.S>j.P>j.S>j.D---- or j.S>J.P>j.P>j.D. At least, its worked for me doing these things.

Look for throw opportunities such as at :41. Perfect time to throw.

But be especially careful with your approaches. If you end up playing against Potemkin, Jam, Sol, Ky, its a tough time being as jumpy and offensive as you were playing.

Although I dont know what all that means yet I'll go over to the info link and translate it @_@. But yea that was his first time playing, and my first time playing against a person. But you guys think its better to use an arcade pad or controller?

Hm. From personal experience, there are some things that are easier to do on a stick on a pad (depends IMO on character choice as well). I-No for example I believe is easier to use on a stick. I can't get her to do what I want with a pad. But, quite honestly, I think its player preference. Doesn't really matter, but thats just me. Oh, sorry. J.P = Jump Punch. J.S = Jump Slash. J.D = Jump Dust. And the like.

I play pad baiken and I do pretty well, that said the only reason i play pad baiken now is because I've played her on pad so long it's hard to switch. I play all non guilty gear games on stick now, stick is IMO better. Charge characters and characters with negative edging are MUCH easier on stick, other than that there are small advantages and disadvantages to each. For baiken only it doesn't really matter, I haven't ever felt held back by the pad with her, the only thing that's tough is TK yozansen, and that's probably tough on stick too. Instant air dashing is also a lot easier on pad.
