Rukus Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Wassup yall, as some of you know, on the first Sunday of this year I was ordained as a deacon for Right Direction Christian Ministries. This adds to my list of responsibilities along with work and school but also affords some benefits. My pastor is looking into getting a few TVs together to set up a game room. This means soon we could have a steady venue in the Raleigh area. We're putting together the plans for when we could have regular and irregular meetings. We are also discussing how this may financially benefit the church. The initial idea is to charge a small ($3-5) venue fee when attending, but I think we may just pass a basket around and whoever has anything can contribute what they see fit. Before you guys get too caught up on the fact that its a church, it is very untraditional. The actual location is 2900 New Covington Pike, which happens to be a business complex. It is a very nice facility, structured differently from a standard church. I will have a key so the pastor won't have to be there to let us in, and though there is rather steep stairway, there is also a handicap lift, so large additional tvs and setups won't be a problem to get in. If you guys have any questions, suggestions, or comments just let me know.
demongodcrush Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Well this thread is now completely dead. Those of you who want to actually message the normal memphis gameheads then you'll have to go to tekken zaibatsu because they ain't coming back. Ultra Fail!!!!!

FlyMike Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Congrats Adrian. That's honorary. I thought you was just somewhere being slaw. "Holy Gameroom" sounds made of win. Hope it works out. Btw, this thread is dead. GG is dead. Coincidence? I'm only posting here because I had a Lil Melvin sighting Saturday. Looked to be ok. No scratches, bruises, signs of starvation, neglect, trauma, etc.

Lycan Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 For Those Memphians still wandering this eery, dead forum!!!Please read! Memphis Peeps, I have some important news to share and some questions that need some answers. Question #1.) Who all is planning to attend Final Round?(Seriously) Question #2.) How are you planning on getting there?(Seriously) Question#3.) Are you getting a hotel or staying with someone?(Seriously) The reason I am asking these questions is because we need to become a little more organized when we travel so all that last minute KiT shit doesn't happen again. Since I know that not everyone can drive for various reasons I suggest this. I found a couple of places that rent vans at affordable prices. They range anywhere from 8 passengers to 15 passengers. Let's say we decide to rent a 15 passenger van and we all chip in. The total cost of the trip including gas and hotel is less(let me repeat that...LESS) than $100 divided by 12 people only. Mind you, this is Renting a SPACIOUS, RELIABLE, AFFORDABLE Vehicle. Gas is already included in that $100dllrs and the price of the hotel where the tournament is held at! That's cheap as fuck! If somebody has a better Idea than please post up. If not than post up to say that you are going and that you are serious about going so we can start planning ahead of time.
Alphakami Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 That is such a damn good idea that I'm tempted to drive to Memphis and ride in the van.... seriously, that's a fuckin' deal. Also, I love Gear. General was right, it's the truth, best 2D fighter ever made. I still enjoy BB tho. I'm planning on getting on that Tekken with Lili soon. 'Rell made that shit so hype that even I'm going to play Tekken. Too good.
FlyMike Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Tad, you must play Tekkunz even if it is your last act on this earth. Lili is hotter than Noel. And Ky + Noel = Leo.
Boss Posted January 21, 2010 Author Posted January 21, 2010 That is such a damn good idea that I'm tempted to drive to Memphis and ride in the van.... seriously, that's a fuckin' deal. Also, I love Gear. General was right, it's the truth, best 2D fighter ever made. I still enjoy BB tho. I'm planning on getting on that Tekken with Lili soon. 'Rell made that shit so hype that even I'm going to play Tekken. Too good. Where are the K.I.T. BB Finals vids?
Alphakami Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Mike: I want to try to play Tekken just like I play BB/GG. Be risky and gimmicky and play yomi games. Is that possible? Boss: Kajoq (Ray) from KY took the vids. I'm not sure if he uploaded them or not, since I avoid anything video related on the interwebz. Holla at him tho, he's got em.
Lil Majin Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 YESH TAD!!! Pick up Tekken! It's too strong to not play lol!
Vandy Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I want to try to play Tekken just like I play BB/GG. Be risky and gimmicky and play yomi games. Is that possible? Man that's all I do.
Lil Majin Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 1) Sad Truth: BlazBlue It is so sad to know that such a great fighting game with a competent enough community had to be put on the back-burner and ultimately fade away for a FAR INFERIOR game, BlazBlue. The sad part is that the current BlazBlue scene is NO WHERE NEAR as big nor as hype as even the GGX2: The Midnight Carnival scene; it's definitely not close to GGAC while it was in its prime. Sadly, below is a current example of how Guilty Gear is Sasuke Uchiha and BlazBlue is Itachi Uchiha right now: Pretty sad indeed. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) My GGAC Career: Good Run I don't know about the rest of yall cats here, but I worked vigorously in order to hype up and make a name for myself in the GGAC scene: - Whether it was by talking loads of shit to everyone or - by pure skill -The name, "Lil Majin," became known nationally. Hell, some players who had me in their bracket in tourneys felt like: ROFL...anyhow, back in the GGX2 and #R days, I would have never thought that years later I would end up contending with and/or beating a lot of the BIG-named top players such as: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3) Contenders: Gods Among Regulars -----Kumiho: One of the top Eddie players in the U.S. -Tourney Wins: 2 wins - I sent him to the loser's bracket as well as beat him in the grand finals at the 40-man Aug.25,2007 Memphis tournament. -Tourney Losses: 1 loss - He eliminated me at SER-2. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----_SH: One of the top Baiken players in the U.S. -Tourney Wins: 1 win - I beat him at SER-2. - Tourney Losses: 0 Losses - Because I only played him once. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----Jais: Hands down Bridget of America AND member of Team America at SBO'08! -Tourney Wins: 1 win - I beat him at Inevitable 2008 in the grand finals as well as in the team tourneys of SER-2, SER-3, and Final Round 2009. -Tourney Losses: 0 Losses - Because I only played him in one tourney set. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----AKA: Undisputed best Millia in America! Too solid. -Tourney Wins: 2 wins - I put him in the loser's bracket and beat him in the grand finals at S.L.U.T.S.'08. -Tourney Losses: 0 Losses - Because I only played him in one tourney. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----Boss: Hands down best Slayer player in the U.S. and Memphis' own top Espadas! The only Memphis player to EVER beat me in a Guilty Gear tourney! -Tourney Wins: 4 wins (IIRC) - I beat him in 3 Memphis Tourneys and recently at K.I.T. 2010. -Tourney Losses: 1 Loss - He eliminated me out of SER-3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----Rudy: Definitely best Zappa in America. There is no other like him. -Tourney Wins: 1 win - I put him in the loser's bracket at Final Round 2009. -Tourney Losses: 0 Losses - Because I only played him in one tourney. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----FrankdaTank: The best real May player in the states. Solid indeed. -Tourney Wins: 1 win - I put him in the loser's bracket at Final Round 2009. -Tourney Losses: 0 Losses - Because I only played him in one tourney. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----DavidCue: One of the top Eddie players in the U.S. Very unique play-style. -Tourney Wins: 1 win - I put him in the loser's bracket at Final Round 2009. -Tourney Losses: 0 Losses - Because I only played him in one tourney. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----Doren2k: One of the top 2 Jam players in America. The hottest Jam alive lol. -Tourney Wins: 0 wins - -Tourney Losses: 2 Losses - He put me in the loser's bracket at SER-2 and SER-3. He also beat me in every single team tourney match we've ever played. Good shit dude; I never got my revenge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----FlashMetroid: One of the top 3 GGAC players in the U.S. (along with Marn and Latiff). Understood best Jam/May player in America. -Tourney Wins - 0 Wins - -Tourney Losses - 2 Losses - He utterly microwaved me both sets, which were, 4-0, 4-1, in the grand finals of Final Round 2009. The worse anyone has ever beaten me in gear. Yeah I sucked in those grand finals lol. Sucks even more that I never got my revenge. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Of course, honorable mentions of players who I've bested in casuals, MM's, and/or (team) tourneys are: raekw0n187, Pwnzor, TenKai, Team Espada, Simon (M.Song), Senkei33, Josh Ballard, r0bot, Moroha, many others who I fail to remember right now Of course, honorable mentions of players who I've gotten utterly beasted by: FlashMetroid, Doren2k. FUCK JAM and ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4) Team Espada: A Team of Hungry BEASTS Although Boss and Azure Phoenix originated Team Espada, myself, ShinBlade, Boss, and General made the group well known here on Dustloop by talking a LOT of shit to the players who disrespected us, and we proved ourselves as really good GGAC players. Although Azure Phoenix remained an almost complete unknown both online AND at tourneys because of his timidness, we all knew his skill and potential as a great player. In our eyes, he was the best May player we'd ever played; I'd vouch for that myself. Nevertheless, Team Espada were originally known as "a group of shit talking scrubs" at first, but were later acknowledged as a team of solid players (especially me, Boss, and General). Although we've never won a team tourney, we placed 3rd at SER-2, 2nd at SER-3, and 7th at FinalRound'09...not bad at all. We all kept improving so consistently because of the number system that I devised where we would play each other for our numbers in FT10's in order to keep our gaming competitive. It wasn't long before we were all around the same level of skill and beasting folk in casuals/tourneys. I still rock the #1 Espada avatar here because I take pride in the group and my placing within it...#1, NIGGAHS!!!! We dodged them haters like how George Bush dodged them shoes!! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5) Conclusion: Gear Ain't Dead, Niggahs Just Scared There are still people who will play the game and the sooner folk realize how great it is, then the quicker the scene will grow again. Hopefully at FinalRound this year it will have a great showing! I'm not done with the game because I still haven't accomplished my original goal for playing it. I know that BlazBlue just came in and literally ran, leaving the GGAC scene chasing behind it like these dudes behind Tony Jaa: It'll catch up eventually. I hope...........
Boss Posted January 29, 2010 Author Posted January 29, 2010 1) Sad Truth =( I wish we still had the old thread to take a look back on the hype. Man, we had some good times with Guilty Gear. It's funny how someone can do so much in such a short time. Thinkin back now it's like damn I was actually really good in that game. Best Slayer in the U.S. for a lil bit too. I do miss that "Oh shit it's Espada!" reaction I used to get when the crew would travel together. Especially after goin back to Tekken, a game I love, but have never been that good or have done anything in:( Being one of the "Elite" in one game, then goin back to square 1 is really a crappy feeling. As for BlazBlue. OF COURSE it isn't as good as Guilty Gear but I really like the game. As retarded and unbalanced the game is, I still have a lot of fun playing it. I wish that people would stop being lame and actually play BOTH games but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen. At least not in Memphis anyway:vbang: P.S. Oh yeah! Where my props at mane?! The only Memphis player to EVER put you out of a GG tournament!
Xploit Neo Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Hopefully, they can make a downloadable version for the PS3 & 360, like blazblue and give it some exposure to new gamers, so they can enjoy it as well and increase the community.
Dark Persona Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Majin bruh, you make it all sound so sad. It will NEVER be over for Gears. It takes players like YOU to keep it alive. You gotta become the Alex Valle of the Gears community. It's own personal Jesus Christ with Espada as the blade slicing up the scene. Memphis has worked too hard as a community and had WAAAY too many fall outs over this to just let it die. If you guys, after all this blood, sweat, and tears let it just die, i'd honestly be disappointed. Ya'll gotta make the shit happen now. Don't just be the shit talkers who ended up well known. Be the shit talkers who came up and took over the Gears scene and brought it back to life. It's not as if you're not connected or well known enough now to start putting shit into effects. Go back to basic, START BACK TALKING THAT SHIT AND GET THE SCENE HYPED UP AGAIN!!! MVC2 THAT SHIT NIGGA!!!
Doren2k Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Hey you guys going to FRXIII? If so......... LETS GET ON SOME GGAC! I want to rape some espadas again like I usually do!!! And Boss i'll play you in some BB my NOel gonna make you cry
Boss Posted January 30, 2010 Author Posted January 30, 2010 Hey you guys going to FRXIII? If so......... LETS GET ON SOME GGAC! I want to rape some espadas again like I usually do!!! And Boss i'll play you in some BB my NOel gonna make you cry Mane you aint ready for Boss Bang and you really aint ready for that old vampire!!
