Danny Schme Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Yeah, thanks for hosting ID. Everyone should play some BBCS when it comes out! (Even you GG players!!) This is what I'm waiting for! I'm garbage at SF4 and no one plays BBCT besides like... Kona by the sounds of it. Those are the only two games I play so here I wait and lurk =[ Unless someone really wants to teach me MBAA from the ground up since I've NEVER touched the game.
Pingas Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 hm CT arcade released 11/20 08 right? , so if there's any consistency CS will be on consoles June-July? Have yet to see any dates yet myself, although I have not looked too hard
Fraga Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Unless someone really wants to teach me MBAA from the ground up since I've NEVER touched the game. I can~ I've been teaching everyone anyways~
AI__ Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 All of you people who went to IllogicalDreamr's (and everyone else)...please come to ACT XIII!! There will be tournaments, casuals, chilling, hype, and more. It's the place to go for GG in New England. Not to be missed. Blue9, is this thing bi-weekly, monthly, or once a yr? Anyone willing gimme a ride? lol
Light_Nazgul Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 Thanks again for hosting Illogical. It was a good time. I look forward to future meet up and am willing to contribute in any way I can. Blue9, is this thing bi-weekly, monthly, or once a yr? Anyone willing gimme a ride? lol Sorry I missed you guys. I wish you could have stayed and got some games in. ACT tends to be every two months although it has been on little break recently. It is the premier meet up for Guilty Gear in New England. Players from all over New England and NYC and NJ get together for team and single entry tournaments and hang out for casuals. It would be great if eastern Mass worked out something for carpooling. I would really like to see you guys there. The tournaments are great for inspiring competition.
Danny Schme Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I can~ I've been teaching everyone anyways~ I still lack a PS2 compatible stick but I'm willing to learn on pad for the time being =]
Furok Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I have this entire week off if anybody is interested in getting some casuals in.
so moe kona Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I'm willing to come by tomorrow but I'd need a ride.
blueNINE Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Is anybody else going to Winter Brawl this weekend?! This is what I'm waiting for! I'm garbage at SF4 and no one plays BBCT besides like... Kona by the sounds of it. Those are the only two games I play so here I wait and lurk =[ Unless someone really wants to teach me MBAA from the ground up since I've NEVER touched the game. Why not learn that GG?! Also, Garou: Mark of the Wolves is cool, a few of us play it, and you can play it on GGPO and Supercade. I still lack a PS2 compatible stick but I'm willing to learn on pad for the time being =] Dual mod for the win. Settling for pad is...fail. (Though I suppose in the meantime, playing it on pad would be good enough to help you get a feel for a new game.) I have this entire week off if anybody is interested in getting some casuals in. I'd be down, but I've got plans for tomorrow, and then I'll be at Winter Brawl. Sorry, man. See you next weekend, though.

Dual mod for the win. Settling for pad is...fail. (Though I suppose in the meantime, playing it on pad would be good enough to help you get a feel for a new game.) . I have every intention of dual modding with a multi-console chip. The big question is how do I get a PS2 chord in there and install the port all without ruining my stick to play MBAA and GG? I've never modded a stick, so I'm not too sure I should handle the addition of a wire port to my stick... I've got nothing against learning GG! I've played it a few times before I started really playing fighting games it was fun so I'm willing to give it a shot. MBAA has just sparked my interest with the videos I've been seeing of it lately and its addition to EVO. And I know once BBCS drops that will more than likely be my main game for a while.
Vyers Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Wish I could have made it to your meet up Illogicaldreamr. Boston GG scene has been dead for ages; this revival is a good thing. It would have been very cool to see some other Baikens in action and get some mirror experience. Unfortunately school fulltime plus work fulltime= RIP free time:vbang: I'd like to make it to the next Boston gathering if possible. I will be coming in April for Anime Boston, and in August for MacArthur Blunt's money.
AI__ Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Guilty Gear is both intriguing and scary. Like Quantum Physics... I'm interested but I just don't feel I have the knack for it. Also despite online play being a flawed resource, it is my only way of gaining match up experience without traveling extreme distances (which I am glad to do but obviously can't do on a daily basis.) P.S. Anyone who wants to find me on face book let me know. I like networking. Makes me feel like i know people. If your interested just play, forget about everything else. Thing about guilty gear is, it's hard at first, but once your able to string a few things together it becomes so fun. Very rewarding game for its learning curve. I'm in the process of getting the same shit done with my stick as soon as I get my MC Cthulhu and Imp shipped to me. THIS is the route I plan to go provided someone does this for me.

THIS is the route I plan to go provided someone does this for me. I've seen this and it seems like a good idea but I have somehow broken about 4 ethernet cables in my lifetime. So this route kind of puts me on edge. I've also come across this idea. Here is the final product.

I always wanted to play a testament player. Danny Schme: Have you considered getting the mayflash joystick? It's compatible w/ pc, ps3, and ps2. Pretty cheap also. You'd have to mod the stick and buttons to your liking though, but I would imagine this would be easier and more affordable(?) than dual modding a joystick. mayflash: http://www.amazon.com/PS2-PS3-PC-Universal-Fighting-Joystick/dp/B0015PHMFU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1267114234&sr=8-1

Mindgam3 Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 If anyone is willing to pay $30 in labor, I could do the RJ-45 mod for you without sacrificing the select button. However, I will say that you do not by any means need a B.S. in Electrical Engineering to do this, it just requires a bit of forethought and proper equipment.

I've been out of the scene for so long that I didn't even know it was dead! You'll definitely have to make it out to the next one. I remember playing you at TGA once in a Baiken mirror and you beat me. You were kind of random with your Baiken so I didn't know what to do. Baiken mirrors are always very careful matches anyway because you're always worrying about getting caught with a counter to your counter Looking forward to playing your Baiken again! I'll be holding my next gathering at the end of March. I haven't picked a date yet, but probably around the same time as the last one.
Danny Schme Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Danny Schme: Have you considered getting the mayflash joystick? I have thought of this, but much like Kona, that button layout makes me sad. I just got a TE around Christmas and I really like the size and weight of it when playing with it on my lap. Having one stick that works on everything would be nice vs having a stick for my 360 and a separate stick for PS2/3. If anyone is willing to pay $30 in labor, I could do the RJ-45 mod for you without sacrificing the select button. However, I will say that you do not by any means need a B.S. in Electrical Engineering to do this, it's just requires a bit of forethought and proper equipment. I lack the equipment, the experience and the know-how on how to go about this so I'd be pretty willing to drop $30 on the RJ-45 mod along with putting a Multi-Console chip/IMP board in there. PM me about costs/ how long it'd take and all that jazz if you wish.
Vyers Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Well I woke up today to find out that nearly all of NH is out of power, and Newington Walmart is closed for the first time since I started working at Subway. Gives me a chance to catch up on homework I guess. Man, it feels good knowing that I'm the person that brought back the GG Boston scene. If so I remember seeing you at a couple ranbats. At the time I only knew basic bnb's; I was just learning how to TK Youzansen. I don't recall actually beating you, but if I did it was just due to luck. I had no mirror experience at the time, so I was definitely playing randomly trying to figure out what to do on the spot when I played you. If you'd like I could pm you my number plus the people I know in Boston. They'd both be up to play some matches in GGAC and other games.
Mascarpone Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 If people are going to be in and around the area for Anime Boston (gosh i love costumes. too bad i hate most of the people) that might be a good opportunity to do a side-get together as well. I will likely be around for AB as some of my good friends work artist ally, and In general i like having an excuse to dress up. Costumed affair is so glamorous :O In general i just like meeting people tho. I look at it as a good starting point for building new bridges~ As mentioned before I would love to host an event some time myself but I'm likely the most out-of-the-way person for that. Which is a shame. But if anyone else is thinking of, please please o_o.. I actually find i love driving across the region. it's like a mini adventure! And I'll bring food! nothing healthy i promise :o in other news: I hate myself for learning on pads. trying to adjust to a stick is making my mind break. My thumbs keep wanting to do all the work and i cannot for the life of me jump to 7 or 9 ...
Pingas Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Come on weekends if you dont work oh wait you are banned =) but seriously learn stick , I only got mine like 4 months ago or so, and was my first one ever, i hate it so much at first, and still have trouble for some stuff, but i already like it infinitely better. Im pretty sure ill run into the crew in the game room at AB
Mascarpone Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Work likes to give me double shifts on weekends.

Either way I'd be up for a gathering of some sort. in other news: I hate myself for learning on pads. trying to adjust to a stick is making my mind break. Learning stick is brutal when you've been playing pad all your life, but everything is easier to execute once you adjust (especially frcs). It took me over 4 months of practicing almost every day to get to the point where I could play better on stick than on pad, but it was sooo worth it when I did. It's easiest to learn if you quit pad cold turkey.
Mascarpone Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 4 months of daily practice? THAT IS NOT COMFORTING!
