r/GuiltyGear and I are hosting an art contest for $70 worth of PSN Cash Card Codes!

    So I’ve been trying to figure out what to do to give back to the community a little bit more and with the help of the mods at r/GuiltyGear, we’re putting on an art contest. The prize is $70 worth of PSN Card codes to buy whatever game you want. No lie though, this entire thing has takes a shit ton more time than I figured it would at first. Learning the legal crap alone was... “fun”. However, we’re all in the green so let’s kick this fucker off!

    The name of the game s simple, the contest will be themed around drawing your favorite player’s character. How you do that is totally up to you, but the piece that best captures the essence of both the person and their main will take home the prize. 

    So you’re probably thinking about why the fuck I’m doing this in the first place and I’ll give you an honest, no bullshit answer. With the upcoming release of Revelator, I have seen a daily stream of artwork from the Japanese Twitter accounts and holy shit is it amazing. Those drawings I’ve also found, tend to connect with people from far outside of the FGC and that is what I want to see happen in a major way. So, I figured with a prize on the line I might be able to kick up a bit of a riot and get some attention for our little corner of the game-verse.

    The contest begin immediately and conclude on May 27th. All you have to do to enter is email a link from either Imgur or DeviantArt of the piece you want to submit to rguiltygearartcontest@gmail.com, do not attach your work to the email itself, it will not be opened and you will be disqualified. Only one entry per person please, and obviously please do not submit someone else’s work or your entry will be voided. Please make sure to read the official rules that I drafted up to if you have any questions. The winner by the way will be chosen by a panel of judges made of the r/guiltygear mods to keep it as legitimate as possible. If you’re worried at all about the “Non-exclusive Permissions” clause it just means that myself and the mods can post your artwork on the forums and the subreddit. We can’t make shit all off of it in any way as the rules state.

Thanks for hosting this. 

I'm familiar w/a few US & Japanese players from watching some tournaments (like the ones that use the same main/subs as me).

Getting the essence of the player into the character sounds like an interesting challenge. 

My Wacom tablet of 8 years died recently, but I can still scan a drawing & use the mouse.  Hope to enter!
