xx is a cancel, which is some retarded notation that came from Capcom fighters. We don't use it in GG because it's totally unnecessary and would be a complete mess if we did.

IIRC is If I Recall Correctly and IIRC we've answered that question in this thread before, which is weird.

Oh this whole time I've been using xx to indicate a short pause.

Well I had always assumed it was a pause myself, considering I didn't think it could stand for anything else. I'm glad Gwyrgyn cleared that up. :cool:

Yeah, I do the same pretty much.

For example with Millia, Turbofall xx Disc is much different than Turbofall, Disc (and both have their uses), and I believe I've also used xx to refer to an active-frame cancel (5P xx 5K) in a recent post.

Though I do sometimes tend to write it in redundant strings/combos (such as 6H xx Roll) for clarity's sake.

Sorry for not researching the thread enuff G.Blood.

But, do mind another stupid question: Controller layout

I use a PS2 contoller and recently bought a new one. I noticed that the black PS2 contoller requires less precision that the blue one( I play analog) My layout is:

square:P

triangle:S

circle:HS

x:K

r1:DUST

r2:PKS(RC AND FRC)

l1:TAUNT

l2:PKSHS

I found that r2 is safer than using l1 cuz l1 affects your inputs. What is the best layout of a PS2 controller? This is quite important cuz this affects my IADs SJs FRCs and RCs...

there are a couple of ways for you to re-map your buttons on the PS2 pad that I can think of:

1) Probably one of the best ways would be to have:

[] = P

X = K

L1 = S

R1 = H

R2 = D

L2 = Taunt

(... or some analogous permutation of the attack button mappings.)

As far as I can tell, this most closely approximates F/RCing on an arcade stick, since you would use three fingers (left and right index fingers, right thumb) to execute the F/RC.

This also allows you to almost get the precision of being able to negative edge like on a stick.

The only possible problem with this is using your left index finger for S, but I think this would only be an initial obstacle.

2) This is the layout that I use:

[] = P

X = K

/\ = S

R1 = H

R2 = D

L1 = Taunt

You can re-arrange some of the mappings, like have R1 = D and R2 = H; stuff like that...

3) Of course, with enough practice, you *can* actually do a bunch of the technically harder inputs with the default config.

Hmm, I myself have thought about switching to stick, but I'm quite happy with my pad game, and I can FRC without any special config, but I still use it if I'm feeling lazy.

Here's my question, and this is just for the sake of all that is worth WTF-ing about:

Considering how great the "Grudge Match" intros are in Accent Core, how come people still skip them in the vids? Man, I don't care if there's a shortcut to the match where's the sense of "I'm gonna kick your ass" if you skip the clash intros. WTF IS THE HURRY?

Primary New Examples:

Slayer vs. HOS

Sol vs. Ky REVAMPED BABY

And I'm betting there's a few more out there, that are worth putting into the video just for the sake of making tournament battle more interesting/ne exciting?

List of Grudge Matches whose intros SHOULDN'T BE SKIPPED:

HOS vs. Ky

Sol vs. Ky

Slayer vs. Sol

Potemkin vs. Slayer

Sol vs. Axl

HOS vs. Ino

Sol vs. Ino

Zappa vs. Faust

Dizzy vs. Testament

Testament vs. Johnny

Johnny vs. May

Johnny vs. Dizzy

Sol vs. Dizzy

HOS vs. Dizzy? (If they have one, that is)

Millia vs. Eddie

Millia vs. Venom (assuming they have a new intro)

Millia vs. Slayer

Eddie vs. Venom

Eddie vs. Slayer

Venom vs. Slayer (assuming they have a new intro)

There are other possibilities, but the list isn't really that long, it's just that watching these special intros makes for a more interesting fight at the very least, and sets the mood...hence my complaint: Again I ask: WTF is the hurry?

I do agree, I like the intros.......however. If you notice, sometimes you start at a different distance after it's done compared to the normal distance. I know for fact that in the Millia vs Eddie intro, at least for Slash, you start a little further back from each other than you normally would. That could be a reason why. For casuals it may not be such a big deal though. :cool:

You can always download the videos with the special intros, edit and compile them into a single video, and watch it for 1000 times until you are sick of it.

That's true, I'd watch that myself.

Thanks for posts on the buttons configs guys...I like the setups but I'm not exactly sure which one to use,love the arcadey feel though.

A few minutes ago ,while reading the Stupid Gameplay threads I found the site on GGXX/GGX2 Web Encyclopedia which is kinda old, I noticed that a good amount of the combos aren't listed on dustloop( I'm not complaining) but I wanted to know if the combos listed in the Web Encyclopedia should be used to "break" into a character's playstyle if your skills aren't that good i.e. scrub level.

I think his main point was it puts more excitement into the battle to watch the opening. That there is just something missing when you skip the opening.
