How do you do oki vs Baiken?

The parry beats meaties and safejumps, so I grab a lot, but then I'm gambling on whether she'll just mash/jump/backdash instead of parry. It feels like I'm getting 50/50'd when I get a knockdown lol

 

I feel like I'm missing something obvious, or is this just how it's supposed to be? I play Gio, in case that matters

If you're familiar with shimmies, it's an effective method to bait both throw tech attempts and her parry. The active window isn't huge and she's in recovery for quite a bit on whiff too. You can even make her think you'll safejump but just empty jump and walk backwards instead.

That said, you're still kind of guessing to some degree besides reading player habits and conditioning them. Its a bit easier to deal with on block since you can use true-strings with lows to target the 236 input, or even do pressure with an 11f+ gap that will automatically bait parrying gaps and probably late guard cancel parry also.

As Gio your options are a bit more limited, but like Whatgoat says you would just shimmy her. Your 214S crossup simultaneously acts as a shimmy and a delay to catch parry, which is as close to a Gio-specific option as you will get.

You actually can safejump against Baiken, but it's a situation you have to condition for. Doing a safejump but ending in FDC (use faultless defense to cancel the airdash) to condition Baiken to respect safejumps can actually turn this into an RPS. It's risky, but you can do it and Baiken has to respect it. Since her parry doesn't give proper oki anymore, it's not quite as risky as you might think.
