Generally less options and high firepower combos that were easy on hakumen are gone. Also pressure strings weakened. (Lost some frame traps hurts, so makes sense)

her 5d will go through your falling jump c and she can 5d all the way through your 4c if predicted (Do not spam pokes against noel) also she can also 3c under your 4c imo this match up is equal or in noel favor but not in hakumen favor

The only thing Noel has going in this matchup is being able to get 4-5 reps of the haida loop off on Hakumen for 4763 of meterless damage, and the combo needs to start with 3c which is way unsafe and risky for Noel, 3c can be blocked and severely punished with 5c 623aa bnb for 3.5k.

My friend DSO being the only good Noel at AI now since CS hit, lol at everyone that dropped her for Ragna, complains all the time that Hakumen has the advantage in this matchup do to having a much easier time putting out damage vs Noel, having supers that do big damage off of combos or throws, and Hakumen out ranging her air to air game. All you really got to do in this matchup is watch for 3c, 6b, and not be baited into 5d. Noel only has one air unblockable, and thats her flash kick, just jump in and barrier block whatever Drive crap she throws at you and punish.

I find this matchup to be slightly in Hakumens favor, like HA 5.5 to NO 4.5.

Ryoko? Have you access to CS yet? We need you in these threads.

wait did u say that if u block noel 3c u can 5c?...yeaaa no the noel i play against at svgl (2gb combo) who is extremely good doesnt jus throw out 3c and when he does i am only able to punish it with either 2b(if hit close) or my 3c but no way 5c also 5d is the answer to almost anything in this match up so if u screw up once and u get hit by 5d (WHICH GOES THROUGH EVERYTHING) u eat a 3.5 k meterless combo i really think this match up is even :/

Her 5D is a pain in the ass, but that's really all she has in general (and in almost every other match-up). Hakumen can usually get better damage off most hits with better range and less risks.

i guess it depends on the skill

cuz it is very hard to get in when i play against noel

but i guess it is easier since 6c and her damage got nerfed

Noels 3c can be punished with 5c, you have to instant block without using barrier to have it hit.

Edit* Punishing 3c depends on range of when 3c hits, at max range 3c can't be punished by 5c, but when 3c is done at around Noel's grab range, if ib'd, 5c will punish it.

This match-up is simple. Noel lost her best mixup option (which is actually extra safe against hakumen due to its pushback on block), lost her 5A spam, and was made more reliant on Drive spammage. These are the three things that will screw noel over in the match-up. With the lack of 2D, 214A also becomes useless as a mixup tool. 2D no longer being an overhead means regardless of whether a cross-up is coming or not, 2D will crush it on reaction either way, making it more or less useless as a cross-up tool in this specific match-up. Lack of 5A spam is bad as that's Noel's best tool to stay close. Now a few good FD will create enough distance for hakumen to easily outpoke noel, or just get to a range where hakumen can play his zone. Drive has gotten better for noel, but not in this match-up. For all the speed increase and added invincibility, they are still highly telegraphed, so just catch drive moves on reaction. Easy as cake. This is just on the Noel's side. There are also other factors not discussed, but overall, Noel does not have many, if anything, in her favor in this match-up.

Posting an amended post I made on this matchup as part of a discussion:

Ok, so the thing that bugs me the most about Noel is that her moveset allows her to evade and counter a lot of my stuff. It's a tricky matchup but I think it's even to Haku favor once everything is hammered out. Thing is, it's easy to fall for Noel's traps. I've no idea what's punishable so I had to find that out manually.

Haku 5b is actually good here. Its got good range and can serve as a stopper to some of Noel's entry. I ended up favoring coming in by air since it made it easier to bait Noel's stuff for an easy CH.

Things to watch out for:

Noel:

- 5D: beats out mashing (even Hotaru! :vbang:)

- 2D: beats out lows.

- 3c: big dmg on hit and low profiles.

What this means for Haku:

- Bait 5D.

- 2D her 2D since it's not an overhead.

- No 4c outside of max range. 5D and 3c beat it.

- If you're in the corner, block, then react to her unsafe ender.

Noel is vulnerable to counters during drive [needs input].

Verdict: What it comes down to is which player is able to bait X move out of the other and punish it. Haku has range, power, and counters. Noel has mobility and traps which can lead to big damage.

However, from what I saw, Haku's stuff is overall safer which leads me to believe that it's ultimately .5 in his favor. On the other hand, Noel very much has a fighting chance if she plays smartly.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anywhere here. :]
