Good guilty gear games, guys.

Thanks to those who made it. BBers, I will join you when console CS comes out, possibly only for ranbats, but possibly not.

Circuitous, keep working on Chipp. I don't know much about him, but I hope the few basic things I showed you will help. Thanks for coming.

Also, as a general announcement, I think I will work more on one of my sub characters and use that character in the next ranbat season to encourage more nub participation. If any other old schoolers want to join me in this, it would make it more fun for me.

Matthias, you play BrazBroo well, and you would be good at Guilty Gear, and Guilty Gear is so much more fun once you figure out what you're doing. Please play Guilty Gear. It's the best game.

Hey guys. Blunts here. Just wanting to let all of you know that this past weekend was one of the most stressful, chaotic and all around CRAZY weekends that I've ever had the pleasure of living through. With that said, having a game tournament to go to after all this family love, mugging and a shit ton of driving was the best thing I could ask for and you guys really don't know how much I appreciate the cooperation on AL and Matt's part of moving the GG stuff to Sunday.

So I feel like shoutz are in order.

First and foremost, Arcade Legends and DoragonKoroshi - You guys are awesome. Thanks for moving the GG stuff to Sunday and running this amazing event. I'm sorry I had to miss the first two days, I'm sure they were a blast and went off without a hitch! You guys at AL did a really good job at running/setting this thing up and I'm sure it took a whole lot of effort and a whole lot of time, stress and general frustration at times.

Kyle - You're the man. I was excited to see you and have our general run-down conversations about life and shit. I'm always glad to see you at tournaments cause I know you have to man up super hard to fit them in your busy real man schedule. Hopefully you and Priya's wedding goes well and I'm hoping MAYBE that can be a wedding I can ACTUALLY DRESS UP NICE FOR. (If I'm invited :3) Mad hearts and crazy bro-grabs.

Sean - Sad to hear this was your last tournament. But I know you and I know you'll still be on that grizzle and always a beast of a player. Thanks for making it down and always being fucking hilarious and a great conversationalist. Sad we didn't get many casuals in, I was itching for more treenanigans but by the time 11pm rolled around I just had to jet.

Paul - We didn't play at all and that makes me sad. We really need to set up more pan cinci-cbus gatherings so we can actually sit down for a few hours and rock out some matches. It's always a pleasure seeing you and watching those Dizzy tactics play out on screen.

Matt - Amazing that you make it to all the events and I can see your Eddie goes up 10 levels every time I play you. Become a stop sign. Always a great pleasure talking with you about stuff, you're a smart man and a great person to have a nice conversation with about strats, mcdonalds, girls and hilarity.

John - WE GOT TO PLAY BASARA AND BATTLE FANTASIA YESTERDAY! IT WAS AWESOME. Glad you're back in good ol' Kentucky and I imagine we'll be chilling a lot this summer seeing how it's fucking summer and that's how we do. You're awesome and I <3 you a lot. There are friends you meet through fighting games that come and go, but nigga you my boy for LIFE. *bro-grabs*

CHASEMAGIC! - Yes! I'm glad you came out to Cinci! I hadn't seen you in a whole whole long time and it was great getting the hilarious casuals in that we always get. I swear you know just how to fight that matchup and it's always a really really fun set when we play. Glad you made it out man, really. It was a fun time. j.H->item->j.H combo was awesome. like 210 fucking damage jesus. I'm hoping I can make it down to lexvegas a lot this summer and get in a shit load of games.

Circuitous - Glad you finally made it out to AL! You need to start getting out AL Thursday nights and I'll be glad to sit down and show you what you have to do to fight Slayer. Sorry I didn't say much before/after the match, I usually don't say that much when I meet new people.

Pope Timmy - Thank fucking god. You knew just what I needed and you DELIVERED! <3's bro we gotta chill more often.

Jesse - Thanks for letting me run up that gatorade tab. Shit was hilarious. Barcade? (Ever think about that? Getting a bar put in there that opens once all the little kiddies are in bed? I've been to a barcade in portland and it looked like they did some businessssss) Thanks for everything at the arcade. You're an amazing addition to the Cinci- no, Ohio- no, Entire midwest gaming community. I'm sure after this event and how well it was ran, the next one is going to be even better.

Sorry I couldn't stay longer, get there earlier, talk to more people. I was stressed, tired and really really emotionally and physically drained. I really appreciated this event and like I mentioned above, a GREAT way to cap off an AMAZING weekend.

Mugging->Wedding->Game Tournament. What a violent, beautiful and EXCITING weekend.

I love seeing all my friends at these things. For some reason, friends through gaming just seem like they're a little bit closer to my heart than other friends. We share a common interest. That interest would be the pleasure of the battle between two minds played by fingers and illustrated on a television screen. We're a type of human that doesn't surface too much in the world anymore and we need to keep in touch with eachother, respect eachother and help eachother improve in games and in life.

Much love, repspect and that feeling you get when all your setups just fall into place. We are all the beasts that shout "I!" at the heart of the world.

Awesome weekend as a whole!

Kyle: You're the funnest person period and I'm still feeling pretty bad that you felt like dropping out of BB. You're easily my favorite opponent and it felt pretty shitty to see you get that frustrated. It was awesome hanging out on Saturday though.

Rei-Scarred: Thanks for making the trip from Indianapolis. It's good to see you can plan ahead unlike other people! Bang's is fucking strong now in CS, but you were good with him in CT anyway so who gives a shit. Hopefully I see you again sometime. I'll let you know about events out here, so keep in touch about anything going on out there too.

TheSlyMoogle: Great to actually meet you, especially after how you were trying to help me get to Frosty Faustings back in January. Sorry BB wasn't feeling good enough for you to enjoy it, but it was good of you to come and at least try things out.

Chase: Most of the same from above. Though extra thanks for attempting to make things better for everyone. This post is Read Only.

JackG: I mad. Really sucked how I was playing on Sunday. Didn't reflect any thing I've been up to lately. No idea why I went back to mistakes I made months ago (5D > Sledge or 2Ding unsafely). :psyduck: Also our 2nd match was just about as bad as it could get. I swear I was blocking... :vbang: Still thanks for playing, I realized you were probably gimped as well. If anything it's good to learn what this matchup will be like as far as spacing and approaches will go so when we can actually legitimately play, it'll just mean damage will be where it's supposed to be.

Patrick: Awesome improvement! Good to know someone will be owning it up with Hazama around here. Keep at it. Just try not to control the urge to do that reversal super when you can't make it safe.

JetM: Tier whore. JK, it's awesome seeing you again too. That match was pretty awesome, just wish I wasn't so anti-clutch when you did that last D.DP. I knew it was coming, but I fucked up my response. Still good job all around, and way to make sure Rei wouldn't coast through grand finales for free. :)

Chicago crew will roll up to this. We will take everything. Because y'all are so free.

Real Talk.

You've got 5 people coming from Chicago almost strictly for Blazblue. (3 SSFIV players but still)

Really would be nice to NOT drop it. And with talking to Matthias he's well aware we intend to make the trip and will show support for it.

Real Talk? You decide.

Honestly next time at least give a heads up. It would've been good for our planning. We might have even started BB earlier so it wouldn't have been at the same time as GG.

Circ and I put in a lot of effort for only 9 people and no hype from fresh faces coming in. Even if it wasn't perfect.

Also I'm going to suggest to Jesse or anyone else running tourneys around here to not have BB and GG at the same exact times. I'm sure you guys don't enjoy having to switch games between matches. Maybe for the next season of ranbats Jesse can have Tekken be in the middle since they are usually the same day as GG/BB?

Posted

Yeah, sorry about that, Matt. Maybe once ranbat season comes around I'll be able to play CS more regularly in the lead up to the console release. I just don't have a PC to practice on. We did schedule BB and GGAC only one hour apart, and given the problems with having to wait for ppl and starting late . . well, you already know what all happened : (

However! I'm glad you guys were able to get mad casuals in the back room. Only sorry I couldn't have visited more often back there.

Anyway, thanks to Matthias and doragonkoroshi for all the help on Sunday. You guys were awesome!

Much love for C-bus. Glad to see you 3 always showing up. =)

Much Love to Jack & Mac for holding down SinCity.

Welcome Back John.

BB is definitely playable, It just takes loads of practice to re-learn all the motions used in every other game thus far. Kyle & Matthias: You guys are keeping BB strong. Much respect. I did a bitch move... sorry everyone.

Jetm: Had the most fun casuals with you man, but you made me suffer through mirror matches in winners AND grand finals so in the end you stand even with me. >_> gj taking second

Matthias: You rule for trying too bad things didnt work out as well as we hoped. You are beast in CS can't wait till console so i can fight you whenever. btw im from Fort Wayne not Indy though o-o its in northeast indiana

Kyle: Your Carl rules

Circ and Zach: Thanks for bringing setups!

Heroic Legacy and his faggot friends: you guys suck real talk

I thought you said their ride fell through last minute? If that's the case, you can't really blame them. How much effort did you and Circ put into this? Did you put in a pot bonus or go across town posting up fliers or anything? If your effort comes down to figuring out how to make the game work as well as possible, bringing setups, posting about it online, and running the tournament, I would dare say that is nowhere near the effort of 5-7 hours travel two ways. I mean, I'll be the first to admit that running GG didn't take very much effort on my part. Not that I didn't try, but all I had to do was invite people out, bring a set up, and run the brackets (which other people even helped me with). I know it sucks that they said they would be there and then they weren't, but there's no sense taking it out on them, it's their loss, right?

It's a little hectic trying to run two tournaments at the same time with a lot of the same players, but it's really something that can't be avoided in a lot of cases. I realize the connection between BB and GG is obvious, but with all of the games we had going on, if most people play at least 2 different games, the situation is bound to come up fairly often. Even with HnK and MotW with only 4 and 5 participants, this situation came up. Also, GG and BB were both small tournaments and we got them both done in time, so it didn't end up mattering. Actually, if the tournaments were bigger, it would have been easy just to run another match if the people you were going to have play were on another game.

That said, last I talked to Jesse about it, he was thinking about running ranbats all in the same day, which would present more such scenarios. I can't be at AL every Saturday in a given month, and GG is my priority, so what results is I miss out on a lot of games I want to play, and I don't get to see a lot of the people I like to see because they go on a different day to play a different game. So yeah, really looking forward. I know that for GG ranbats, I will be running pools with the top players advancing to brackets. If you adopt this for BB as well, we could get the players for the pools we need while avoiding players from the pool the other game is currently running, and hopefully avoid overlap that way. I also love this because if you have a 4-man pool even if you lose twice, you still get a third match instead of the traditional 2 and out, which I think can make weaker players feel a little more satisfied with their experience.

I had so much fucking fun this weekend, I swear. I'm gonna do that props thing you guys do so I can fit in.

Matthias - Y'know we barely played BB together at all? That kinda sucks. Good work running the tourney and with the setup and trying to keep everybody happy. You had a fair bit of shit to put up with but you did well. Don't take the Chicago thing too hard, this shit happens and CS just isn't hype enough right now to let something like this bother you too much. Thanks also for going ahead and doing what you had to do to get CS working better. I know I gave you some shit about it, but in retrospect if it could've made a difference it was right to do it.

Big Zach - if you lurk as much as you claim to, I'm sure you'll see this. Thanks for the games and the GG advice (and knocking me out of losers), and for not abusing my generosity too much. :v:

Kyle - You're cool as hell, you know that? I don't know where you get off being cool like that. It's not right. Thanks for the games and the advice and everything else.

Zinac - I don't even think I got a proper chance to say hi to you. Hi.

Sly Moogle - Hi. Nice Anji. Thanks for the games.

Kyle, Zinac, Sly - Sorry about the diagonals. Honestly I just didn't realize it was an issue, but in some of the later games I did start to notice it. Honestly I still don't think it's a problem with the loader, I think it's just how the stick gives diagonal inputs to the PC (it's a POV hat on PC, 8 directions). Hopefully when CS hits consoles you guys can give us some real games. Sound good?

doragon - Thanks for running GG, trying to get us a team for BB, Chipp advice, and being an all-around cool guy. Honestly if I'd known BB would have such a bad turnout I would've put in a lot more effort to get people there and make it worth the trip. All I did was bring a setup. The next CS tournament will definitely be a bigger deal, I'll make sure of it.

Mac - Don't worry about it, it was cool meeting you. Thanks for the games, and letting me get that one round in on you. :v: I'd love to make it out to AL more, but I work Thursday nights so it just isn't possible right now. I'm considering a change of schedule but nothing's concrete yet, and even if I go for it I might not get it. So for now I'm stuck to weekend games. If anything does come up I'll definitely try and be there, though. And congratulations, of course. At least the guy that soundly kicked my ass went on to win the whole thing, right?

Everyone I played but didn't catch the names of - Thanks for the games! Who are you?

Everyone I caught the names of but didn't play - Why didn't we play? I'm not that bad, damn.

Edit: Oh, shit. Rei. Good work on CS and thanks for the games.

Also Jason and Emba and everyone else sweating with us in the back room like the sad lifers we are. Thanks for being there and having a great time with us.

ha.. I was kidding about Heroic. It's a shame they couldn't make it but I don't hold it against him. He would have just been more money for my winnings anyway :D

Get hype for CS console.

Oh yeah, I meant to make mention of this, but there were a few instances where you were standing right next to me and I didn't say much. Sorry for that. Just not the world's best conversationalist, and there were matches to watch and there was business to attend to, but it made me feel like I was ignoring you, which made me feel bad. Please don't take it as a "this guy must not like me" kind of thing. I'm always happy to get people excited about GG, and you're just a really cool guy, and you contribute where you can, and I dig that a lot. So glad you had a good time.

Matt, keep in mind. Me, Rei-scarred, and Heroic_Legacy know each other. We're giving him shit and don't know the whole story yet on what happened. In the mean time we're just having a little bit of fun. This will probably be trash talk fuel, but nothing serious. More of an inside joke.

As for effort. I'll just keep it short. If I could have I would have and I did think about the pot bonus when I saw Nathan throw it into SSF4. Then I remembered I do not have money for it since I have no job right now.

edit: I also did try to get to MWC, but that's a long story on why that fucked up. Getting my license soon though so maybe in the future I will start traveling around and hyping shit up. If I'm still in Ohio.

What, seriously? Dude don't even worry about it. You never ignored me when I tried to talk to you or needed help with something, and I never felt like I couldn't talk to you if I wanted to. I'll be sure to drag you into long conversations next time.

A big thanks to everyone involved with PowerUp 2010. It was a great experience and I definitely don't regret coming down.

GZ-Matthias - It was great to see you again. I'm relieved that I managed to only get hit with GETB once this time. And of course I would use Bang against Rei; It's the same reason I rocked Ragna against Zach. I'm a counter-picking degenerate, and Bang's only counter-pick as far as I know is Bang (or rather, out of everyone that I can use to a reasonable extent). :vbang:

Rei-scarred - Man, this time I was really hoping to clean house and then you come out of nowhere and kick my ass. Congrats on winning BB. Hopefully I'll be able to take you down next time. Shame we never double FRKZ'd during the grand finals. Would have been glorious.

Kyle - Sorry bout the way things went for you. I look forward to seeing you after the console release so you can properly tear me a new one.

Thank you to all those that showed up for BB. Here's to a hopefully better turnout next time. Maybe I'll pick up GG in the meantime...

Maybe I'll pick up GG in the meantime...

Please do. The more games you have that you can troll your brother in, the better. Too many/too hard characters to counter pick in that game effectively though, so just pick up Eddie, Slayer, or Testament if you want to be that way. Also, good seeing you and Patrick even though I didn't really get to play games with you. Glad the people I used to play all the time at WSU decided to start heading out to tournaments and stuff.

No problem man, I'll say Hi anyway!

As far as diagonals go. *cough* This discussion has NOTHING to do with pirating, just general joystick configuration! Well if you use a stick that supports axes also, I would suggest that over POV. Thats how I set my stick up on my setup, and I have alot less issues with the diagonals.

Posted

By default the TE goes into PC mode when it's connected to one, and the stick becomes a POV hat regardless of where the switch is set. Maybe there's a way around it - I'll do some digging. In the meantime the console release isn't far off so hopefully it won't matter.

Shouts:

Everyone GGs.

Special Shouts:

Mac: You're like my brother from another mother. Always <3

GZ: It's cool man. No beef with the setups, it's not your fault. When the game busts out on consoles we'll play for realz after I combo practice for a few hours.

Heroic and his Bros:

Nice job taking all our "Money"

Approve.

Yeah yeah, addressing the hate. Weekend went like this.

Friday. Call Mooshi-Q. "Yo, we doing this powerup trip this weekend?" "Yeah no problem."

Saturday. Everyone's all ready. 4 people ready to go. Can't get ahold of Moosh.

Saturday, 11PM Called Mooshi for the 40th time. "Yeah, I'm sick as fuck." "So that's a no go? "I'm eating ice cream. "Are we going or not?" "Call me in the morning."

Sunday, 5AM Called Mooshi twice. "You alive?" "I'm just going back to sleep."

=/

So then I ask everyone else if we could just take a smaller car. 4 people, we can do some damage without the Chicago Hate Van. One of them wouldn't go, because only 4 people. All he wanted to go for, was to take the 5v5 on. So we'd be down to 3. And out of the three remaining, I have no car, Frankie is too young, and the 3rd just got back from road tripping to Champaign for the week and didn't want to drive anything past 12 minutes.

By the time we finished calling people and realizing we were shit outta luck, it was too late to take a greyhound.

As of Monday morning however, Mooshi-Q was playing CoD4 perfectly fine. And he also used his sickness to cure his addiction to cigarettes. So you have 4 salty chicagoans who wanted to fucking go, but couldn't. And one person who no longer smokes cigarettes, but still rages on CoD4 because Litchi isn't in there to stop bullets with Itsuu.

@Rei, I hope you enjoy that win. And I hope you played nothing like you did at MWC. You were free in both CS and CT.

Lollllllllllllll

I was free in CS but I don't what your sorry ass is talking about you got RAPED in CT. :p

But yeah, there was no lag and I had plenty of time to practice combos so naturally I destroyed the 3 people I had to fight to win -_-

Also, this tourney made me officially quit CT Bang. He is just too fucking depressing to use now. Tager till July 20th for me >_>
