bjholmes2 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 For discussion of the Hazama vs. Noel matchup.
Arifureta Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I think this is a pretty even matchup. Though she has like a bazillion attacks with invincibility frames compared to Hazama's like, what, two? 214d~b is pretty good at interrupting most of her start-ups though.
BladeOfJustice7 Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 Jayoku Houtenjin on greed sever. There was a match of a hazama v.s noel, probaly won't be able to find it but that's how he was able to get fatal counter hits. Noels mix-up via chain revolver is shit compared to ct so blocking her strings and landing a houtenjin shouldn't be too difficult.
Drill Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Okay. I'll admit I'm not too good but... Advice against drive spamming Noels? My main way of tripping someone up right now is 3C. However, Noel has that stupid drive move that makes her jump in the air and miss. Also not QUITE sure when in the drive she's open and to what...
Firekid2 Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 I'm having problems with this match-up as well. Tips for punishing drive?
kazukifafner Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Properly time Houtenjin and 214D~B are helpful. Honestly though, don't be afraid to high jump and whip yourself around the room with those chains. At a distance, you have supreme advantage over Noel (seriously, Optic Barrel isn't that good, lol). If you are fighting a Noel that loves rushing in, feel free to high jump and throw a j4D or j2D. If you'd rather play more defensively, just block until her Drive "string" is over, then punish her as she recovers or prepare to use 214D~B when she tries to start up another drive "string".
MastercrashMD Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 I find that if you instant block her 6D, 2D, or jD you get a free pretty much anything. 5B, 214D~B, 236236 B pretty much anything. If you can see those moves coming cause drive spammer's usually have a pattern punish with those options accordingly. However with the jD be careful because it can be canceled into her spring raid lol
Tage*Proto Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Her 5d can go through your chains on reaction due to invincibility, since she is insanely punishable on IB, and her mix-up is pretty meh now, I tend to play this one a bit more defensive, fishing for 5b CH's, or interrupts with 214d-b. She really has no answer to 2a, 5b harassment. Like hakumen, she has a guaranteed answer to any 214d options in a blockstring with her 5d, so i'd advise against that. Just block well, IB and punish accordingly.
Phoeniks Posted August 10, 2010 Posted August 10, 2010 It's likely that you will be doing a lot of blocking in this matchup. Noel has 2 overheads and both are pretty tame. Watch out for 5B at the beginning of blockstrings and watch out for her Chain Revolver overhead (forget the command, this one is much faster but won't result in very much damage). Punish j.D, 3C, and all her high cooldown Chain Revolver moves. Opt to punish with 3C instead of 5B a lot, because 5B won't always reach. Throw out 3C's for "long range" CHs and 5A, 2A, and 5B for close range CHs. Don't forget to throw out a 236D every so often. Jayoku is your friend as always. Chain zone from afar and don't worry about her approach. Don't get silly with flinging yourself around the screen, Noel's DDs can punish it very occasionally. TK 214B can occasionally be useful against her 3C, command grab, and low CR attack, but 214D~B and 214D~A are almost always better.
Sharakonta Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 One thing I've noticed is that a lot of Noels seem to stay far away from you, is this normal or just a random occurrence?
Fireryda Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 are you playing online? Noel can't do anything from far away.. unless they're just waiting for an opening to get in.
Sharakonta Posted September 8, 2010 Posted September 8, 2010 Ya it's online, usually ranked matches, but they always seem to stand away from me so I just 5D~A a couple times then 5D~D then start using one of the bnb combo's.
madaxe_munkee Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Well I guess that for Noel, it's kinda easier to let Hazama come to you than going to Hazama. When you run at him, he starts throwing those chains everywhere and it's difficult to get close without a lucky guess as to which direction he'll throw them in. Not to mention that if he nicks you with them, he can go straight into combo+oki. If you let Hazama come at you (especially if he hasn't pinned you down with ouroboros), then you have more of an advantage, if you're confident that you know the openers he's likely to use that is.

Um, it's easy to close the distance gap, if you can't get close to haz then you're doing it wrong. Noel has bad mixup and unsafe drive moves, just wait/bait and punish like kazuki said. Biggest thing I'd say to worry about aside from regular shenanigans is if she's a Bullet Storm happy Noel. Be careful with the chains, or what moves you're using, I've caught SO many hazamas by doing a well timed Bullet Storm because they think they can throw chains awl dei.
