RinHara5aki Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 LMFAO LOL... well, its true XD May I ask when the singles tourney usually ends? I'd like to go to the next one, but I kinda want to know just how little sleep I'll be getting lol. It depends on the amount of people. The last singles had an appauling 32 supposedly, which lasted until like a rediculous 12:30... kinda wierd to say this but hopefully next time not so many people will come :/ I have to say me and Copperdabbit's match was pretty extreme lol. DAMN YOU I was TRYING to record you guys but you just took off without me! By the time I turned the camera on I was halfway through the match and decided to scrap it 3: ... The double curse was amazing. Coopa and OrionXElite mirror match was hype too.
Spirit Juice Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Hmm... well, whats the best quality mike I can get without getting a redonculous boom mike that costs thousands of dollars lol :x... You probably know better than me, I rarely commentate. Something like this. You'd have to get a converter (probably get one from Radioshack) that lets you plug it into the computer, but that's what we've used in the past and they work great. Not sure how much they cost though. May I ask when the singles tourney usually ends? I'd like to go to the next one, but I kinda want to know just how little sleep I'll be getting lol. If there's 16 people or less, usually around 10:30. Last time we had close to 32 and we didn't finish until 12:15, and that was with switching the tournament to single game/best of one about half way through the brackets. If we get over 20 people, we might have to change it to $3 entry, winner's bracket 2/3 games, loser's bracket 1/1 games, with all finals (loser's, winner's, and grand finals) 2/3 games.
qwerty Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 if you're sure you want to invest in a mic, jump on this asap because amazon is selling it at 55% off.
RinHara5aki Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Alright.. well.. this is a situation I want to see into first. First of all, I dont enjoy the trip down to San Jose. Ever. Motorcycling almost 70 miles strait on 280 is one of the more hellish experiences in life. And i've got work to deal with. So I can't just jump on EVERY singles and doubles every month and cover it all. So an investment in a even "cheap" 70 dollar mic might be used like monthly/bi-monthly.. ehh.. Secondly I think i'd have to invest in a much better audio recording software. I noticed that if I record in stereo, the program will crash randomly, but if its mono, it runs fine. I need a more reliable software. I have Adobe Soundbooth but that thing stupidly skips, so there are like sections where it completely cut out like 4-5 seconds of audio. Useless. You know whats funny actually, I head SingStar mic's are great XDDDDD /facepalm.... And its got USB. You just have to sacrifice your ego for it LOL..
qwerty Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 well, it's not a cheap $70 mic, it's a $150 mic being sold for $70. and quite frankly, it's about the best you're going to get without hitting $200+. as for recording software, try sony vegas. my sympathies about riding a motorcycle in the bay area, both the best and the worst place on the planet to own one.
CopperDabbit Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Rin: You're not a bad player. Your problem is that you're comparing yourself against all of the best players in norcal, some of whom are some of the top players in the country. If you take a step back, you'll see what I mean. Dacid: I was only talking for that ONE TOURNY. Next time, I'm getting quadruple perfects on you. Plus an astral or two. And, the hug was my idea. It was YOUR idea to hit the camera. Scott: Many thanks for running the tourny. If you ever need help I'm more than willing to lend a hand. Willy: That was an awesome match. I barely won it by a hair. Pretty soon you'll be beating me regularly Qwerty: I AM DISAPPOINT. John: We need to get you a different job, so you can actually join the tourny's. Everyone: You're all awesome and have so very much potential! Keep practicing! Sleep time is now...

RinHara5aki Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I dunno. Play some casual's with me sometimes, maybe you guy's will understand my professional noobieness XD.. Scott was just being nice to me during that match. If anything, me and Erik are on the same level. That why when I saw I was up with him, I was like "Well, two rounds for us, this was fun" XD. I gotta give Erik lots of credit though, SRSLY, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be playing this game! He's the one who first introduced me to CT :3 THE CAMERA IS GOOD. IT HAS NO HARD FEELINGS :3333
Dacidbro Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Dude, Erik is such a cool guy. But so are you, Rin. Beyond just being generally enjoyable, you were so calm about the camera, I was/am still blown away by that. And that's WAY more important than skill, which you actually DO have, just not in as great a quantity as you desire. .-. Keep doin your thing man. ^_^ Get them loops down, I'll play you come summer eh? Then we'll go eat copious amounts of americasian food.
qwerty Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 i'll be honest in saying i was playing pretty bad on saturday, but at the same time i don't think you're all that bad rin.
Dacidbro Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Your execution was pretty ass, but you were playing really smart. Hate to see you on a good day
Spirit Juice Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 He forgot to bring his Jew gold with him that day.
RinHara5aki Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Before anything guys, one of my favorite matches all night! I LOVED watching this match! Awesome match James and Coopa! >:3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMBgN5wC9FQ Dude, Erik is such a cool guy. But so are you, Rin. Beyond just being generally enjoyable, you were so calm about the camera, I was/am still blown away by that. Keep doin your thing man. ^_^ Get them loops down, I'll play you come summer eh? Then we'll go eat copious amounts of americasian food. Yeah man, Erik's mah BRO >:3, he's seriously awesome. I think my 6 year old camera wasn't as important as getting your match in, its no problem at all. It was just great to be there. i'll be honest in saying i was playing pretty bad on saturday, but at the same time i don't think you're all that bad rin. I actually had a lot of fun playing Street Fighter >:3 Yeah great game. I think I just kept getting away from those street fighter pokes you throw out with my jump spammyness, but when it came to HOTARU... LOL He forgot to bring his Jew gold with him that day. What are we gonna do with all these Jew's and furries Scott? XDDD
OrionXElite Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I dunno. Play some casual's with me sometimes, maybe you guy's will understand my professional noobieness XD.. IT HAS NO HARD FEELINGS :3333 Man Rin you sound like I used to! Just practice some more and get some advice from the local Tao masters...or master in this case since Jon is the only other Tao player I know of and he is pretty crazy honestly. Just don't be like I used to! Get advice, learn your matchups, practice your combos and you'll be better in no time. Not to state the obvious, but seriously reading all the character matchup threads helped me a lot with some of my weaker matches. Now go practice and I expect you to be using taunt loops on me next time I see you!
Spirit Juice Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Yeah, overall the level of play is improving by a lot of players. Keep on playing and practicing, and you guys will catch up in no time!
Dacidbro Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I'm sure we can all learn a lot by watching all these recordings.. Seeing where matches went wrong is a godsend for improving.
OrionXElite Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Damn right Dacid I'm gonna need my match vid against Dabbit to try and learn that matchup better. I have so little experience playing Arakune I always panic cause of all the shit on the screen. But I am learning thanks to Dabbit and Jon and Qwerty giving me some advice and words of encouragement. So I will beat Dabbit one day...I hope.
Mike Z Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMBgN5wC9FQHey, I'm glad Soviet mirror taunting caught on! Now then, I know this isn't the right thread, but whatever: - 360A (or B!) on Tager should be followed by 2B xx AC, etc. There's zero reason to do anything else. - Throw combo of choice is not throw xx BSledge, etc anymore unless you want corner (in which case BSledge, 5C->2D). Throw xx AC, elbow, 5B->4D is B&B now. - CH Hammer should be followed with 5C->6A->2C xx AC, etc. - Fatal Counter combos should be second nature by now. :^( LOL @ 6C xx 720. That required a jump cancel, since you can't normally cancel a C move to a 720, which means even as a mistake it's really hard to do! Mad props.
Dacidbro Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Bahhh, Jared? He's all HYPE anyway. I heard he can't even quadruple perfect double astral some scrubby bang player that just slams jab the whole match In all serious, Ara is a match of controlled aggression. You have to know when you have to block (And I mean block, not mash 360, 720 or sledge), and you have to know when to go balls to the wall all out. Tager's problem here is getting the magnetism isn't easy.. Tager's advantage here is post magnetism, Ara is in for some ROUGH SHIT. EDIT: Oh, hi mike. I won a tournament!
OrionXElite Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Hey, I'm glad Soviet mirror taunting caught on! That required a jump cancel, since you can't normally cancel a C move to a 720, which means even as a mistake it's really hard to do! Mad props. Well thanks for the advice Mike! I already do the 360 ->2B xx AC when I remember but I don't do 360s that much so I still have to make it second nature. I'm currently learning FC combos. I know a corner one but the 2P stick was loose so me along with a few other people were dropping combos a lot. As for the throw and CH Hammer combos, I will learn those ASAP! Dacid, I do remember Scott commentating on my rather impatient nature against Jared so I will work on that. That was the consistent advice I got the whole night.
Dacidbro Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 It's something every American struggles with. Patience does not come naturally to us. Our blood boils, and we must PUSH BUTTONS. :d
RinHara5aki Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 I'm sure we can all learn a lot by watching all these recordings.. Seeing where matches went wrong is a godsend for improving. That is EXACTLY the reason I record, I love allowing people and myself to learn about players mind games, combo's, tech traps, mixups, mistakes, habits, ... I just dont agree with trying to learn new things by reading stuff (Which is still important). Plus video's are just fun to watch :3 Hey, I'm glad Soviet mirror taunting caught on! Mike, I know Warzone is gonna go on 'n stuff, but at SOME point you GOTTA come up to the bi-weekly SVGL singles/doubles tournament!
Dacidbro Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Speaking of watching myself, do want my matches :>
OrionXElite Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Mike Z at a norcal ranbat?! My idol!! I would love to get my ass handed to me by the guy who essentially taught me how to play Tager by means of example!
RinHara5aki Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Speaking of watching myself, do want my matches :> The matches are being posted in order, and i have to render it three times before its actually on youtube. Its a painful, and long process. Bare with me.
