JinSaotome Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 So I'm going to be in Japan for about a week or so, and I was wondering if any of our JP-resident Dustloopers knew the locations of some good arcades in Tokyo? I'm not sure where we'll be staying at (right now at Palace Side hotel in Kyoto), but I'd like to make sure I can get raped by some pros before going home. (also, had NO idea where to put this, mods, please move wherever its appropriate)
render Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 You should definitely check out Mikado in Takada no Baba. It's on the JR Yamanote line. Google map Dunno if you can read Japanese, but here's the location info page from their website: http://mi-ka-do.net/baba/shopinfo/
shtkn Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 this probably goes in match finder, but it's no big deal... moving there now.

Unfortunately, my knowlefge of moonrunes is pretty limited, but I should be able to manage.
qwerty Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 i've heard that regardless of what you're looking for, you can't go wrong with club sega akihabara.
rtl42 Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 ^those two are probably the most "guaranteed" places to recommend, given that you don't know where you're staying.

Raviloli Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 1. Yes, you should be prepared to deal with a lot of second hand smoke at arcades. 2. If your hotel is in Kyoto, I hope you have a Japan Rail Pass when you come, otherwise it's going to cost you at least $200 to get to Tokyo, unless you want to take the overnight bus. 3. Good GG arcades in Tokyo include Takadanobaba Mikado, as stated prior, Club Sega Akihabara is kind of like, a decent arcade for everything, but there will rarely ever be anyone super strong there. If you keep your eyes open at any arcade, you will usually see a GG machine in use. 4. If you're in Kyoto, and don't have a Rail Pass, and want to find your way to an arcade with strong players, it's not like you're totally out of luck. A-Cho is in Kyoto, and there's plenty of arcades in Osaka, which is only about 30 minutes away. I don't know many of them, but I hear Game Athena is pretty sweet. 5. If you do end up in Tokyo, send me a PM a few days before you come, and I'll give you specific directions to whatever arcade.
