Snicker-Snack Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 @rtl: Carcass raid is a projectile, so it isn't separated into startup/active/recovery frames like most melee moves are. Also, you forgot to mention that melee moves don't go directly into recovery after they use up their hit (so to speak): moves have to go through the rest of their active frames and their recovery frames after they hit, which is why meaty moves are easier to link from (they don't hit with their very first active frame). @enokrad: The fact that Carcass Raid is a projectile kind of makes it difficult to calculate frame advantage just from hit stun: First, projectiles' "hit stop" affect only their opponents, so effectivelly they have extra hit stun. Second, even with hit stop into consideration, projectiles have really weird and inconsistent hitstun... compare Venom's Carcass Raid with Gunflame and Johnny's Glitter is Gold in frame datas (all lvl3 moves)... Maybe every projectile has an individual hit stop (some ridiculously huge), or maybe they aren't hitting in the very first frame after they become active even at point blank (I assume frame data is calculated considering point blank range for projectiles). Who knows? Either way, you're probably better off not thinking much about it... Might as well just take the numbers for granted and/or do whatever works from experience.
Jet Set Dizzy Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 anyone know a site to buy GG/ for cheap? the cheapest i found it for was $49.90 at playasia. is there any other website that has it for less? hopefully you bought it cause they're sold out there now...

So, while your opponent is in the hit stop because of the projectile, you are not, and the frame count continues running normally for you while your opponent is frozen, right? So, what I was missing was the hit stop factor. I suspected something like that, but I wanted to know a more solid opinion. Thanks a lot, man! Now back to developing pressure strings . By the way, is the hit stop length directly related to the stun level of the move? If that is so, I would greatly appreciate a chart or something. Sorry for messing around so much!!!
Slavi Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 What are the changes in GGXX:AC is there a list or something?

vane505 Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 Well I can't decide on what character to play. I have begun to learn Venom and I like his playstyle but I'm thinking of getting to know a character that's a bit easier to begin with (and maybe keep this as my main aswell). The candidates for now are Zappa (for his odd and random summoning), Bridget (for controlling both the throwable jojo and have a long-distance weapon) and Millia (just look cool when she fights). The thing is that I like their playstyles for some reason and I don't want to play a character that everyone uses like Jam. I'm just wondering how they will manage in AC. I'm trying to find information on this but I can't find anywhere. Appreciate your answer.

I'm trying to find information on this but I can't find anywhere. Appreciate your answer. My earnest advice to you is to just simply play the character you like most. Don't base your decision on what other people think of characters, or if the character is common or not. If you're really into becoming a Guilty Gear player, you'll stand out above the crowds of bandwagon players. Play them all, check their styles, use what you feel most comfortable with. I have, and always will, be a heavy-hitter that relies on pressure. Sol fits my style perfectly, and because of that, Sol is my main. If that were to change in an upcoming adjustment, I would probably choose another character that is closer to what Sol used to be. Play what fits your style.
Nuts Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 order sol fits my style ...he is a really WILD badguy  is there any news about slash release on PC?
Ice Prince Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Yes, just go with a character that grabs your attention first. I remember back in X, Millia grabbed my attention, and I've stuck with her since. I like faster characters, and I tried Chipp out eventually, but he was just too quick, and I would always somehow teleport when I wasn't even trying to, so I just gave up and stuck with Millia. She was just as fast, did decent damage, and had good mixups. The only thing I didn't like was her defense, but it's a small disadvantage compared to the advantages. I'm still satisfied.
Jet Set Dizzy Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 its those damn 22 moves. i always use them on accident. does anybody know where to buy a Accent Core machine im thinking about getting one and maybe renting it to my local arcade cause im tired of them not having one+i want one.
Sòlrök Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 It'll probably cost you above five-grand. I've seen them selling a kit, however, the price wasn't displayed yet.
Jet Set Dizzy Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 5k is pretty rediculous. i was thinking more like 3k.... o well kits are way cheaper tho.
Sòlrök Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 You're not paying for the materials, you're paying for the copyrights and royalties. It's not so bad on a mass-produced game because those costs are split equally among sales, however on something that isn't highly produced, the price is jacked up. Kit will be pretty expensive too, I'm sure, since it comes with the harddrive.
4r5 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 If you get a kit, you'll still need a display and controllers.
CABINET SMASHER Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 NCSX is taking orders for the PCB kit starting at $1895. This of course doesn't include a cab, but if you really want it... Hell, I want it, but I definitely would rather spend that money elsewhere.
tigerfist27 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Is it allowed to take EX characters in tournements? If i watch match videos on youtube i dont see EX characters. And if the answer is no you cant take ex characters then WHY is it not allowed?
HmR.kS Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Yes it's allowed. But no people use it in serious matches because EX characters sucks bad ass. You shouldn't use it too.
Darkhonor90 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Yes it's allowed. But no people use it in serious matches because EX characters sucks bad ass. You shouldn't use it too. No Ex characters are not allowed in almost all tournaments and the reason being is that we try to be as close to arcade perfect as possible and in arcade they don't have EX characters.
Ice Prince Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Yes, EX characters are more for fun than anything else. They are usually "better" versions of the regular ones and they're moves usually have better priority and are quicker or have faster frames, etc. Sometimes they have added special moves and overdrives as well. Slash EX Millia's 236P special and Chipp's j.236x2 HS overdrive for example.
tigerfist27 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 I ment tournements for the console, sorry for not telling that in my previous post. Ok now i know why they don't allow in GENERAL ex characters. Thanx guys.
