That doesn't bother me though, especially considering I just started taking it seriously (haven't even been to a tournament for it yet) since I found two Namco psx fightsticks about two weeks ago. I hear the GG community is being crippled by the growing Blazblue community. I don't play Blazblue and don't plan to. Chicago area guilty gear people, where are you? I'm in Geneva. About an hour away from Chicago, 38 miles west of it. I wanna be in the scene. Or start one. Let's do it. PS: before mods get butthurt about the presence of two Chicago threads, I'd like to clarify that this particular Chicago thread is for Guilty Gear ONLY, not for Blazblue. Addison Illinois every Tues, Thurs, Sat has a venue called AreaXIII. $5 at the door, bring a console+game (DeadXIII has 17 televisions up and ready). They mainly play SSFIV there but people are open to other games. There's a GG scene around it too. But before you go you should Ask around in the Chicago thread on Shoryuken about GG players. You'll get responses. With CS we've basically stopped playing CT. And, nobody here likes BB but me anyway. I'll save you the work. CHICAGO SRK THREAD

Bonzai Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 An idea I have to get the ball rolling is to rent a room, maybe from a motel, for 1 day and just bring setups there. I was looking at motels in the Chicago area, and saw some that offered ~$45 for 1 night. If we get 8 people, that's roughly $5 each person. However, some problems to consider is that the rooms might not be big, so cramming might be a potential problem. Also, location matters for some too. The motels I were looking at were like a 30 minute drive from my place, if someone can find a good looking room/location/anything, for cheap and is close to the actual downtown Chicago, I can bring 3-5 GG players that aren't scrubby and split the bill for the place. It's located in Addison, Illinois, which is only 20 minutes away from Chicago. About 17 televisions and 40 chairs. If a major tournament is happening he streams it on the big screen. $5 to get in and that's all. Bring your own setup/people and play. We can have anywhere from 5 tvs to 12 tvs running. Main game running is usually SSFIV or MvC2 if we can get BeaTs and Geronimo to come out. Blazblue is liked there by most people. We have about 10 players. Same with GGAC+. Every month DeadXIII runs a monthly tournament/ranbat for every game at the time. Just not July, cause of Evo. Seriously, sign up on SRK and check on the Chicago Thread. It's always good to read. Drama and jokes. Sometimes trolling and hate. @Jam: =/ DO IT. We need more people.

We need more people. eh thats kinda far...i dunno maybe one day i'll go i do have an accout on srk, i don't really keep up with it since i haven't really gotten into sf4, waiting on ssf4 on the pc, i tried blazblue and thought it sucked...and thats all everyone talks about anymore, lotta knew people i don't know etc etc gg scene was so good when i got into it and that wasn't even it's prime

No one played there, so that was a little disheartening, but the place is still AWESOME. If you guys are ever planning to go to AreaXIII for some GG/BB, I'll try my best to go with my gang again. It's pretty difficult for us to make the trip up there though, due to distance and Summer school. The trip up there drained half of my friend's fuel tank, so yeah if you want us to go post in here/SRK Chicago thread and make sure you actually show up.

But I know 2 people decided to hop on Blazblue. A Ragna and a Kune. Next time I get the group together, I'll post up. And we'll get some games in. Testament, Jam, Slayer, Eddie I recall seeing.
