kenja0 Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 I have no idea what this matchup entails. If anyone wants to shed some light on Mu, then feel free to post- I will update accordingly. [Current matchup] Half of Mu's normals are relatively the same as Lambda's. Despite having slower C moves than ours, Mu's have better hitboxes and they lead into some of her best combos. This combined with her damage and steiners, makes her a capable pressure character. Mu's steiners support her rushdown gameplay very well; however, they also take time to set up. Keep her as busy as possible to prevent her from setting them up, and if she sets them up, put yourself in a situation where you can punish her for it. 5DD, 6DD(close), 4DD(far), j.2DD, 236B/C/D,C. Be weary of Mu's blockstring since she can set up steiners in the middle of it and then cancel it into her 63214C- either react fast or don't react at all. Luckily, if she's hit, then the steiners won't shoot initially. However, be aware that if you don't make it in time, that the steiner's lasers will crush ALL of Lambda's projectiles. If Mu starts shooting to her steiners, you can hit her out of the startup. If she succeeds, however, stay mobile. The Steiners track maybe 1/3 of a second behind the target's position. If you have the opportunity, attack her with jump cancellable moves and get out of there. Mu's diamond is her DP that hits all around her. If you ever are crazy enough to rush her down, don't be close enough to get hit by it- D moves are the way to go in this match. Conclusion: Not the hardest matchup, but certainly an active one at that. I believe this will end up being around 50-50.
Antihippy Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Err, some of her C moves are pretty different. 6C, for example, is the 5D like thing, only with really shitty recovery if blocked. From the looks of it you can either 5D her afterwards or 6D if she cancels it into a stein and JC it. j 2C too is pretty different. Looks really punishable though. And they look better hitbox wise, but according to the frame data most of them are slower than lambdas by a few frames. Dunno what to think of that. Honestly though, I interested in how 214D works against Mu. Other than Mu's 236D laser they seem to be able to cancel out with 214D so it might provide decent cover. I dunno. Maybe.
kenja0 Posted July 6, 2010 Author Posted July 6, 2010 Well some of the moves look very similar- I stopped direct comparisons after B moves. And by looking at the recent videos, I assumed the C moves were faster. They're already much better for combo potential (Pick ups with 2B)... Her corner loop is also brain-dead compared to ours.
Antihippy Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Yeah, they look like they are faster, but they seem to be a few frames slower. They do seem to have good hitboxes though. Ok now that I've had more time to test with multiple characters, here is an updated list of SD and start up frames for her attacks. The numbers are exact on less noted otherwise. SD: 5A = -1 2A = -2 6A = -7 5B = -6 2B = +1 6B = -3 5C = -9 2C = -20 3C = -16 6C = -26 63214C = -10 623C = -20 // Not in CH state for duration of move 632146C = At best -31 // Not in CH state for duration of move Start Up: 5A = 6 2A = 7 6A = 11 5B = 9 2B = 10 6B = 22 5C = 14 2C = 16 3C = 14 6C = 20 j.2C = 21 At worst (Calculated assuming Mu's jump start up is 4 frames) 236A = 31 At worst (Kind of hard to test) 214D = Between 36-38 (Kind of hard to test) 623C = 10 63214C (Fastest) = 19 632146C = 14
Heroic_Legacy Posted July 6, 2010 Posted July 6, 2010 Don't backdash or IAD back at the start of the round. Mu can set 6D steiner and 214D cancel it to explode in your face, rush in and hit 2C j.C J.2c 66 2B 5C 2C j.C j.2C for 3.5k and gets her position over you in the corner with 3 steiner out. If you block the steiner, you lost 1 primer, and Mu has the advantage of being able to set more steiner to disrupt your zoning attempt. Personally I do a lot of 6D jump cancel 214D to keep you from zoning too much. And even if it trades, we do 1.4k for that explosion. So keeping at that rate you'll die long before we do.
ikeTATARI Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Part of the problem with this matchup is that Steins eat your Drive moves (yes, even 214D/236D) when popped. Otherwise, as long as you keep her blocking/getting hit, the steins just sort of disappear into nothingness. This matchup is definitely an aggressive one for Lambda, because you really have to keep the pressure on from your drive range. Most of Mu's normals lead into some really stupid damage from anywhere on the screen, so it's definitely a good idea to try to stay half a screen away from her. An inexperienced Mu is hardly a problem, though - if they don't know how to utilize their steins, that's the only real advantage they have in vs. Lambda.
Overheat Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Worst case scenario: Mu sets up 4 Steins and is spamming lasers/fireballs/shots. What do you do? If you keep on blocking, your primers will be eaten, and it's really hard to rush down while the lasers cover her. I thought 4DD might work, but it didn't work out too well. As long as Mu doesn't have any Steins out, this is an easy match.
Mr. Kimura Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 But when she has Steins... also it seems her air normals are way better than ours. She can outzone us and there's nothing we can do. Trying to use a D move while Steins are out means counter pretty much. I hate this matchup with a passion.
Antihippy Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 If you see them setting up steins you can throw out a sword and even if they block you stop the stein from firing and you gain back control. There's a hella load of startup between the stein coming out and firing. Only time when you really have to worry about steins is when she sets them up for Oki from what I've experienced, so try not to get knocked down. Zoning: Lambda > Mu Melee: Mu >Lambda From what I experience of this matchup. Though when close up just keep blocking low and only block high when you see her slow ass overhead or if she's jumping.
