shtkn Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 just to warn everyone, i intend to make the following themes: ky baiken hazama i think 7 themes total is a good stopping point so unless you come up with something absolutely brilliant, i probably won't add it in. feel free to note bugs you see with existing themes tho. I'll think of a couple ideas and get back to you Kevin. Should I mock up a view of the forum page, with character specific color themes? I might be able to come up with a couple. :] (Of course I would only use default colors.) mock up a page and note the colors used (include the hex value of the color). that should be enough
mAc Chaos Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Try black backgrounds, white text, and dark red bars.
TyrantRevolver Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I am really impressed with both the regular blue and Tager color themes. Fantastic job. And I'm really digging the snazzy look on the dustloop logo.
ZONG_one Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Ahh, this is too much for me to do at work this fast. Hopefully Ky or Baiken will look ok. I just really hate these dark themes. EDIT- I'll probably stick to VB4 Default Style. As it's the only one I can stand to look at ATM.
Shitty Vampire Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Baiken style theme? Fuck yeah hope it rocks.
Zarithan Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 Omg Tager theme <3 Forum once again looks godlike :D Awesome job guys \o/
mr.mortified Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Sol theme is quite nice, but it strains the eyes when you're in settings looking at the boxes on the left. Even with that I'm still using this very nice and sexy looking Sol theme. (who looks at settings anyways)
Andru Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Sol theme looks good, you should set that one as the overall forum default. Good job on the postbit too.
njmamm Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 lolwut the Tager theme isn't even...Tager-colored... But thanks for the new look!
Kamui Moon Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 are you planning on making the article section available to everyone at some point? it's a bit frustrating to be able to see a mod-only board and not be able read it.
shtkn Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 You should be able to make threads in that section, but you won't be able to see any replies or other ppl's threads.
FLESHPOUNDER Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Hey, I like the new themes! If you want some constructive criticism (I know, everyone has some to give), I have a few remarks I hope you find helpful. Basically my complaints are all about the contrast of the text to the background and how it bothers me to read. I circled in red things I think can be improved. (Nitpicky) The selected tab at the top (home, forum, etc) is a little too low contrast. (Nitpicky) The white border on the grey bar against the dark grey is a bit jarring. The blue on dark gray is too much contrast for the font size. However, the same blue on a more mid tone grey is too low contrast to read. - Imho, that vibrant blue isn't working as a font color. As a disclaimer, I prefer lighter forum backgrounds. The colors are attractive together as a design but not to read on for me. I really like the Sol one. The sandy colors blend well with each other while remaining distinct, so the contrast the red offers feels purposeful. The only thing on it that I think needs fixing is on the options panes, the red on dark grey background is uncomfortable to read. Tager is solid. The colors work together and don't conflict. The options panes are a little too low contrast but definitely readable. - The only real error in any of your designs is found in Tager. The blue exclamation mark on the bottom left of posts shows up, and I don't think you want it there. No blue elsewhere in the design, etc. I hope this helps. Good work! User interfaces require a lot of work Is there I way I can hide the image? Don't want to take up a ton of room on this page. Thanks.
rei-Scarred Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 The site theme seems to revert to the default whenever I close the browser. Can this be fixed?
the_d3v Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 After not visiting for some time, I was shocked when Dustloop suddenly looked like SRK! That said, the black borders on the Sol Style need to be replaced with white or grey.
4r5 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 The site theme seems to revert to the default whenever I close the browser. Can this be fixed? cookie?
Skye Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 After not visiting for some time, I was shocked when Dustloop suddenly looked like SRK! That said, the black borders on the Sol Style need to be replaced with white or grey. I don't know about that. Sol style is as good as it's gonna get as far as forum skin palettes go.
SH-Junkie Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I suggest that the sol theme should be the default color for the forum. To have the old dustloop colors :3
Circuitous Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 In the Sol style (and probably others) the drop-down menus at the top (Community, Forum Actions, etc.) are white text on a light grey background. Also, highlighted posts become solid red - so links, usernames, etc. are all invisible.
Skye Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 It would also be a great idea to incorporate those new logo ideas.
Jam-Kiske Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 A logo would be pretty snazzy. Though what's up there at the moment is pretty sleek, that cold define us better. [didn't even realize there are more themes derp] I'll go check those out...
shtkn Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 yes, i'm aware of the hilight problem. tho i guess it's not that big of an issue for mods to deal with. It would also be a great idea to incorporate those new logo ideas. what logo ideas? edit: before i forget, you guys should be thanking koogy for coming up with the color schemes. i just have hte un-fun job of figuring out how to put them into the system
Andru Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Edit: Err, nevermind , seems it remembers the info now @_@ /forums/ was separate from /forums/forum.php but it seems ok now.
