I think the part that pissed me off was this notion of things being "not street fighter" and being too "Marvel vs. Capcom". The game evolved over the years y'know? Each game is unique and has elements that are intrinsic to SF. SF3 is probably the least "Street Fighter" set in the series simply because it almost completely removed zoning as a tactic and, its not very "marvel" at all. Damn I wish Tumblr would come back up so I could rant about this more.

I also get the impression that he never really played any fighters like Vampire Savior or Guilty Gear, what with UPWARDS GATLINGS IS FUKKN GAY even though..sf4 doesn't have that.

It sort of does. But its character specific and doesn't make things any easier. Ibuki, Dudley and Guy all have target combos which basically work like gatlings but they are very specific so like, Ibuki can do 5LP ->5MP ->5HK ->2HK or Dudley can do 6HK ->5MK. But they aren't special cancelable if you do them so you have to link them into other normals which can then be special canceled. Which can require a 1 to 3 frame link.

actually.....dat target combo is LP > MP > cr.HK > HK, HK = jump cancel-able so you can kunai afterwards or go into kasumi suzaku....>_> I forgot why i dropped her again...and yeah that timing is uber tight, lp > mp > hp > raida/neck breaker is probably the fastest combo/link i practiced with her.

Yeah, I'm aware of those, I've messed with Guy, but I consider those to be more like a specific gatling than a general rule of LMH like in VS, MB, TVC, etc.

Version 1.02 System Update is showing up on both American and Japanese Xbox sites. One can only hope that Valkenhayn will come to American shores shortly. Interestingly, it notes the release date of the 1.02 update as 12/7/10. I know that it's 12/7 in Japan at the moment, but the American site shows this as well.

Plus, europe is getting him tomorrow on 360, confirmed several times, so US 360 should have him.

If so, I will mess with him for like 6 hours tomorrow just like I did makoto! :3

hm..i still need to mess with arakune. i blame the fact that there's no need to yet since we don't have any good arakunes...

I've been talking back and forth a bit with DarkGeese. He organizes King of Fighters tourneys and post a ton of match videos on his channel. I've been trying to get some info from him about the metagame of KoF and such. If any of you haven't checked out his channel and are at all interested in KoF you should go there now. Also, we need to play some KoF at the next meetup I attend/host. Even if I have to bring my PS2 and KoF98UM.

Hrmm... If I managed to find a PS2 copy of NGBC I could actually practice but, I already have too much shit I need to spend money on. :( BAAAAAAAAAAWWWWW!!! I need to win the lotto.

EDIT: Apparently NGBC can be gotten for like $10 online. If I can find some extra cash lying around I might just pick it up. :toot:

gg's normals remind me of arcana's more so than blazblue's

i think ill probably just start with order sol before moving on to a character i may want to play more, get used to the game first. i've messed with him a lot before anyway, haha.

BRAIN IS SATURATED FROM MESSING WITH ABA/ROBOKY/JOHNNY/OTHERS will probably start with OS or venom and then if i played enough over time, may sub bridget or whatevf

and then tomorrow i get to spend 6 hours with valk like i did with makoto

Yeah I definitely made a good call waiting until he came out to pick up a sub. I like his play style alot more than ragna or makoto o_o

If it's any consolation I don't usually use subs. johnny and jam are exceptions cuz it's my favorite game and i like their styles.

same with valk, valk and hakumen are now literally the only reasons i play bb :DDD

lmao i cant really..spend as many hours with valk as i did makoto beacuse i already know tons of stuff about him from videos :(

his ability to transition into wolf pressure off d cancellable moves is better than i thought, though. tk 214b to beat jumpblocker is pretty great since it safely transitions into wolf mixup.

ronin i better see some good mixup/pressure and use of wolf form's mobility when i see you play valk.

i'm experimenting with dem wolf special juggles at the moment. being able to combo into sturm wolf and my astral is pretty nifty so far. I like having alot of good mix up with him too very interesting. need a week or two before i'd call him combat ready though >_> (mainly cuz i feel like peoples lack of this matchup is making up for my fresh experminenting with him.)

Note that his wolf 5a is a low. 5a tick command grab is strong as hell. Also, he can do wolf command grab in the air.

Also that talbain-esque dive can crossup, and his normal j.b can do a ryu-style crossup with the knee or whatever.

236c and first hit of 236b will safely transition into wolf air hits on block, don't have to worry about bang's 5a unless he instant blocked or you acted too late.

236a/236b236b don't seem to do the same safe transition on block but maybe i'm too slow, but keep in mind you can transform into wolf form at ANY TIME during 236 series, j214b, or 6c, and iirc 6b.

Also 6a has projectile guard point, though I didn't test how soon. Might be useful against bang nails? 6a a spike chaser imo. ;p

For now I'm gonna get some efficient combos hammered into my muscle memory, I've used wolf cancelling to save my ass from a few messed up links, but I really need to memorize some of them long as fuck 6k combos :3

i wouldn't put too much effort into the really strong combos, because combo shit is going to change a lot soon. However, do get his basic comboability down, yeah.

6c is also +6 frames and fatal counters. :3 And low invuln. And breaks a primer. GDLK move, even if it is 25 frames.
