cheebz Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 need the "deal with it" gif or pic here you are, son. i am the king of gifs. never forget. i modified this one for portable trolling, but the effect is just as powerful
Mightfo Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 SSF4AE trailer has Yun and Yang of course....and 2 new characters!! SOMEBODY INTERESTING??? nope Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma. Fuck Capcom.
Ronin Jinobi Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 lol wants of the many outweigh the wants of the few? *shrug* i mean if you didn't see that coming from a mile away you need to work on dat yomi.
Mightfo Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 lol wants of the many outweigh the wants of the few? *shrug* i mean if you didn't see that coming from a mile away you need to work on dat yomi. except nobody wants more shotos, i do not understand more like "the cheap paletteswap of the corporation outweighs the actual desire to try to generate more hype and dlc sales"
Mightfo Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 oh they're not even playable, apparently, since it says "37 characters" which means SSF4+yun and yang so basically ssf4ae only adds 2 characters despite all that buildup 2 characters since april, working hard huh capcom mvc3 better not suck.
Ronin Jinobi Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) there's more normal people than people who prefer different things. who do normal people play? shotos. And sure shotos might be boring but they force good fundamentals from both players. i.e. you wanna punish a DP spamming ken? block on his wakeup, block his dp's stay out of the air, punish annoying shit. etc. etc. wanna win with a shoto? have good fundamentals. bleh but I digress Think of it this way, there's a reason that it took 10 years for another sf to actually come out, and when it did, it didn't take things from the 3s other than the 3-4 characters they've brought in. edit: they're not playable in arcade most likely, with enough bitching/pushing from normal people they'll end up playable, shenanigans will ensue, etc. Edited December 3, 2010 by Ronin Jinobi
Mightfo Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 fundamentals=blocking as okizemi man, i get what you're saying there, but choose a better example also "casuals" actually are unimpressed by the amount of shotos and have a negative impression of ssf4 due to "fireball wars", so i think you're wrong there
Ronin Jinobi Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 man, i get what you're saying there, but choose a better example also "casuals" actually are unimpressed by the amount of shotos and have a negative impression of ssf4 due to "fireball wars", so i think you're wrong there k. good players block on wakeup, xbl kens do shoryu on wakeup. solution: first knockdown, block and test. second knockdown, get hit by HP shoryu. third knockdown, block again and punish the unsafe shoryu/ultra/whatever the fuck it is kids are doing online these days. also kinda hard to choose a better example when i'm talking about sf welp to put it this way. everytime i played in the arcade people who i guess are lesser casuals. let's call them...uber scrubs. were like "oh shit you can throw fireballs!" so essentially, my old manager from target, several random mexicans, black and white people i met who are fans but not players(or at least not good players) go for dem shotos, do dem uppercuts, shoot dem balls. do 1 hit combos. etc. etc. etc. what i'm saying is people who don't go further into shoto expertise, or even fighting game expertise don't really give two shits about a game as long as they can play as a dude with goku waves. tl;dr: uber scrubs outnumber people that actually play games. that's why fancy new fighters get less respect than crapcom fighters
jetblaksuit Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) I love shotos. I don't understand why they would add Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma though. Especially since Shin Akuma is already in SSF4. They could have actually added interesting palette swaps. Or OMG make Charlie as to Guile, as Ken is to Ryu. I would have JIMP'd. EDIT: I'm even more annoyed cause they could have added Sean. Who would at least be as different from the other shotos as they are from each other. Fucking Ono. Edited December 3, 2010 by jetblaksuit

I mean fuck I mained ky for 3 years in my ggx days. and hell i even run ragna a bit sometimes because that belial edge loop is sooo fucking easy to replicate. Edited December 3, 2010 by Ronin Jinobi
Mightfo Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) tl;dr: uber scrubs outnumber people that actually play games. that's why fancy new fighters get less respect than crapcom fighters Yeah, I don't see why I need to be reminded of this, it's evident in most media. Or OMG make Charlie as to Guile, as Ken is to Ryu. I would have JIMP'd. I don't hate shotos, I hate how many there are in SF, though I like Gouken and theoretically like Akuma. The day a good fighter comes out where there is no main dude with a shoryu who drowns everyone else in volume in online play is a glorious day indeed. Also, I wish every company could just do interesting "palette swaps" like Arcsys did with Robo-ky, HOS, and Mu. EDIT: I'm even more annoyed cause they could have added Sean. Who would at least be as different from the other shotos as they are from each other. Fucking Ono. basketball oki......... Edited December 3, 2010 by Mightfo
Ronin Jinobi Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Yeah, I don't see why I need to be reminded of this, it's evident in most media. just presenting some evidence to support my whole "more people want dem shotos mang," statement.
Mightfo Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 just presenting some evidence to support my whole "more people want dem shotos mang," statement. I think my confusion before is I didn't separate "people who don't play fighters" from "the horde that plays SF4." The former need more than "less shotos pls" to care much about fighters, so... edit: also i've played shotos before. why? because they're relatively simple to understand. I mean fuck I mained ky for 3 years in my ggx days. and hell i even run ragna a bit sometimes because that belial edge loop is sooo fucking easy to replicate. Having a fireball and a shoryu doesn't make me instantly not want to play a character. If juri's pinwheel was a real DP i'd still like her, morrigan is a big part of why I pay attention to MvC3, etc. Also, I'm sort of iffy at calling Ragna a shoto. He has a DP, but so does, say, Makoto. I typically think of "non-sf shoto" as being "fireball+dp+not weird" and "sf shoto" as being "fireball+dp+some sort of hurricane kick."
jetblaksuit Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 tl;dr: uber scrubs outnumber people that actually play games. that's why fancy new fighters get less respect than crapcom fighters Not really. Its because fancy new fighters turn people off with ANIMAY!!!! Seriously, I try to get people interested in playing BlazBlue and immediately they're like, "WTF is this shit? Do you have Halo HERP DERP" Its why people like Mortal Kombat. Capcom fighters at least have nostalgia factor. Mortal Kombat has blood so people(read:Americuh) like that shit regardless of whether its good. EDIT: Also Jin, is the only shoto in BB. Ragna is not a shoto.

Also, I hope one of two things happens with MK9: 1)Absolutely fucking amazing 2)Absolute shit, gets no steam whatsoever Because while SF4 brought amazing shitheads alongside a new bunch of people to play fighters, I can't imagine how many utter shitheads MK9 would bring. You think SRK reacting to animo is bad, wait till you see SRK with an injection of Mortal Kombat fans who came for the gore.
Ronin Jinobi Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 bleh I'm gonna pass on MK9, MK was okay when I was a kid but the more I think about it the more i realize i had more fun playing alpha, KOF, mahvel, gg, and 3s at the arcade in the ghetto ass mall then i did trying to play MK at my friends house I: and yeah man i'm just anticipating a wave of "MORTAL KOMBAT SO GLDK!" idiots once that game launches o_o and real talk some fighters being anime as shit do turn me away from it...unless it's HNK and SBX anime like, then you got me joining in on some infinite shenanigans :DDD
jetblaksuit Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 (edited) There's an iPlayWinner BB podcast where they talk about why BB isn't as popular as it could be. One of the things they say, is that the character designs turn people off. I mean, how many people genuinely like Platinum or, Carl as characters in a non-tongue in cheek sort of way? I like Arcana Heart characters because they are so ridiculous. I like Ryu because he is ÅŒyama Masutatsu. Edited December 3, 2010 by jetblaksuit

nubai Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 It also talks about people not helping the scene grow! * cough cough*
Frigiddeath Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Anyone in Dallas want to split the cost of a TE? The deal for NEC this weekend is buy one get one free on TE sticks and I need to buy a stick for my PS3. Don't need 2 so if someone wants to put half of the $170 ( fuck you TX sales tax), they can have the second stick.
Yuushiro Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 marcell i'm afraid this is a toll thread give me austin's daemon bride cabinet to continue ask Ryan Harvey..., it's not like a lot of ppl play MBAA CC anyway..., you can ask him to get DM for like when you guys are here. just email him through arcUFO website
jetblaksuit Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 It also talks about people not helping the scene grow! * cough cough* Say what you want about me since I've never been to a tourney. But its not like I don't do my part. I host meetups at least twice a month. I pushed for BB at my college's gaming club and tried to organize a tourney there. Sure the college stuff didn't pan out but, its not like I haven't tried to help the scene out. I'm not saying there isn't any hope for the Dallas scene but, just from my position its a hard sell for me to get people I meet even remotely interested in this game. It has a lot of things that just turn the average person off.

Someone at my college who plays Brawl a lot (trying to get him into BB) told me about a game store near UTD/CCCC that frequently holds Brawl tournaments. After exams I plan on calling him up to see about organizing some type of BB event to draw some people in. The place is called FX Game Exchange and it's off of Parker and Custer. Anyone familiar with the place itself/owner or anything?
