Shazay Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Online will inevitably be bad I just really hope they fix the game speed. After playing at Bobby's I wasn't interested in console gg at all.
4r5 Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 All is forgiven if I can get pre-AC voices.
qwerty Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I'd actually be optimistic about the speed thing. The screenshots practically give it away that they're emulating the NAOMI and not directly porting it. The "borders" are actually how the NAOMI outputs 16:9; it doesn't scale, it just draws the parts of the screen that aren't normally visible in 4:3. So, assuming that the speed of the arcade version isn't due to clogging the NAOMI's tubes, there's a good chance this port will run at the same speed. I also think it's odd how there's only one region of the country that even knows about this. It's not like there aren't AC cabs elsewhere....
Abominable K Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 A guy around here used to have the only (good) AC cabinet on the East Coast; alas, he sold 99% of his arcade stuff. One thing I noticed was that not only did the game run slower, but seemed to suffer from slowdown as well, though that may have been a problem specifically with his Naomi hardware.
qwerty Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Every cab I've played on has had slowdown in the same places (most notably the third hit of ABA's rekka and Johnny's Jackhound), so I doubt it was something with his hardware. The issue is that nobody really knows what causes the game to run at the speeds it does on either platform. Nobody knows how the game is coded aside from ASW themselves, so there isn't much to speculate on there. Though, one thing I've noticed is that the audio sample rates are significantly lower on the PS2 version than on the arcade or Wii versions. Come to think of it, has anyone tested the speed of the Wii port yet?
4r5 Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 AK, you came in a few months before AC dropped. Since you couldn't do 10-hit Grand Viper, you probably don't remember, but slowdown is in all versions of GG. Arcade, PS1, PS2, and GBA. AC console is the oddball. Instead of occasional slowdown/crashing, it's just constantly sped up. Removal of slowdowns is the probable source of the speed difference. But.. Nobody knows how the game is coded aside from ASW themselves, so there isn't much to speculate on there. shrug After AK's first day of playing on the AC cab, I asked him if the Wii version felt like PS2 or Arcade. He said PS2. BUT, then again, people also said AC felt the same speed as Slash (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ I also think it's odd how there's only one region of the country that even knows about this. It's not like there aren't AC cabs elsewhere.... Back when there was a big debate about keeping Slash for EVO, or switching mid-qualifiers to AC, there were one or two players who said something along the lines of, "AC is an unbalanced bullshit scrub game, people won't have time to adjust to the changes, and the game isn't even the right speed!" But of course the speed remark got overshadowed by accusations that a Guilty Gear game could be anything but the most balanced fighting game in the universe, whose players are so far above the lowly scrubs that they should be herald like gods. Then they left the scene forever. Meanwhile, Testament's new BnB consists of one move looped over and over again. And I'm too busy chasing "undocumented changes", while Steve H is running on some tables some where.
qwerty Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Well, they were right about one thing. :P I can adjust pretty easily between console and arcade, and I'd imagine most people do it without even realizing it. It is a bit annoying to know that we're playing Turbo 2.5 when we should be playing Turbo 2, though. Of course, even if the PS3/360 port runs at the right speed, we still have that 4 frames of input lag thing to deal with. Advance input in GG? Who knows!
HamsterJohn Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Hey, I'm so new to the Blazblue scene I barely know anyone locally, haha. I'm Matt and from Northern VA, right next to Maryland. Need more local friends that play. xD Hai Matt. Come back to me when you've decided on a main for GG. I need a live person to practice with instead of MANIAC computer all the damn time. I live in Herndon so wherever we meet it probably will be better than dealing with those wretched roads found in MD.
Shazay Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 It is a bit annoying to know that we're playing Turbo 2.5 when we should be playing Turbo 2, though. Yeah, its pretty much a different game. I hated experiencing this first hand but I loved playing the arcade version. I could actually block things and do the hard combos!
4r5 Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 Wait 5 years for a squeal, get another release of AC instead. Well played Ishiwatari, well played. When ever your Guilty Gear rip-off of Tribes gets released I'll be sure to pre-order two copies. Now excuse me while I drive Steve H to NoVA to get his laser-guided arcade stick realigned or some shit. Anyone going to be at Xanadu tomorrow for Guilty Gear?

4r5 Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 T. Hawk won't be in the Street Fighter Monopoly game.
4r5 Posted March 1, 2012 Author Posted March 1, 2012 When can I cross the line? Day 1 P4 looks way faster than day 1 BB. And currently the BnB's aren't combovid in length.
Zero000 Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Yeah, watched quite a bit of it. Day 1 P4 Fast, day 1 combos did max damage bb combos, the design of the game looks cool i'll play it
4r5 Posted March 2, 2012 Author Posted March 2, 2012 Did not watch. Because Jacky didn't have a funny intro or customization.
HeartBuri XD Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Holy hell, did Hamsterjohn post?!?! Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
