Ummm... It does. Having educators who go on strike cause they are not happy, wouldn't it reflect on how they teach as well. A university who doesn't think its important enough to take action until 3-4 weeks after is even worse.

Don't they help though. I made a mistake in saying they are the educators but isn't that the point they are assistants in the first place. 3000+ teaching assistants, contract faculty and graduate assistants walked off and the university did nothing for a few month.

The argument is how York University allowed such a thing to happen for such a long time before the government had to step in for them.

strike does not diminish the level of education an institution provides - it's York striking so long that by the time it was over, they've lost a term's worth of 'business' because they fail to fix it.

Extra tid-bit to the article: If you didn't know, McCleans retracted that article within 12hrs of release and got a heck of a time in getting it back up because they've already upset people for a weak racist article as well as people claimed they were misquoted. Apparently there are also group sessions in asian communities in GTA to tell the parents to stop forcing their kids into professions such as doctor, engineering, accounting etc. (if you want to source that last part, it's on CTV).

again, TA's are only students, they are short on money too, its just something they do until they complete their graduate studies, their strike speaks nothing to the education of york, although, yes york itself too way too long to settle the dispute and hence the diminished rep i previously mentioned
