The only anime fighters that aren't lame are GG, HnK and SBX, just in terms of "coolness." Like Melty Blood is good and Arcana Heart looks really fun...but come on.

And you actually need to win several small battles in order to win the war. A lot less of the one simple CH ruins the whole game for you immediately.

You mean GG? I guess so...for most of the cast. Not Slayer and Eddie.

Eddie is a different story. Slayer has a lot of crap that leads into damage as we all know, but he can't absolutely wreck you unless he has a fair amount of tension in his pocket. I don't know if you've noticed how X-Sapph plays, but for the most part he just does 4 - 5 hit combos into knockdown for oki until he either loses oki or has enough tension to go into a Slayer BS. Or a nasty Counter-Hit. At least, that's what I've noticed. I'm still learning and I don't see him play too often.
