Krackatoa Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Yo. GTA. Care for a long-ass drive? I'm throwing an event out of Algonquin College here in Ottawa (The building we've booked off is spacious, well-wired and has a Starbucks literally next to where you'd be playing), so if any of you are interested in coming out, feel free! Trying to woo Montreal into coming out for the day as well. I'm throwing a semi-humble event here in Ottawa. Essentially I've found a way to get the Canadian school system to front everything for an event short of the console stations themselves. Tons of space and all the electrical we could possibly want. The upload out of the college can reach upwards of 100Mbps. I ran a stream of GG last week, we capped out at like 9.2Mbps encode, which was the bottleneck to the New York Twitch servers. Haha. I'll upload the archive when I get a chance. http://www.dustloop.com/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=502&day=2013-3-16 I've managed to score at least 8-10 legit stations thanks to GO, and the Ottawa community is down to come out in force (We've been dying for big events here, it seems). We've also got volunteer setups on the way. I'm going to try and fill these brackets with Algonquin students to beef up the pot numbers. I want to run pretty much everything, so if you guys are down, the Ottawa DL guys would be ecstatic to give you their money. Haha. I can run two of these a year for practically nothing now that I've worked out logistics, so there'll be one of these a semester. I'm pretty fresh to event organizing, but I've done/I'm doing my homework. Regardless of whether or not any of you guys can come out, what would you guys want to see there? I realize this is pretty short notice (Slogging through the red tape to make sure this was actually feasible was a nightmare) and I know what the drive is like, but this is a thing that's happening, if you're interested! :S Thanks! Krackatoa. Would really like some feedback on what it WOULD take to get you guys to come out. I have enough time and resources to throw about 5 giant-arse events by purloining space and venue from the Canadian school system.
magus704 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 ^ This is very interesting and since I see Marvel I'm pretty inclined to go lol. BTW, I see you've put this event on the stream calender but I'm not sure how many people actually check that. I'd recommend making a post for this event in the Event Announcements section.
LiveWireX Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I go if BB there. As far as I know, there should still be BB and P4A there among a bunch of other games, for sure.
Roldy Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 Hopefully school doesn't bombard me with projects around that time, lol Hmm...4 hour drive
kuenzel Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Hey guys, my friends and I are new BB players looking to get in some tournaments and step our game up. Couple questions: How necessary are arcade sticks? We just play on the 360, but it seems most tournaments only have PS3 setups. Its a big investment, and it'd kinda suck to learn everything from the ground up again. Are there any sites besides this one that list BB tournaments in the GTA, or in general? Any other tips for a BB newbie looking to get into the scene?
DeadliestxXx Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 we have a Facebook group called Canadian Airdashers for people who play "anime" games. Check out TorontoTopTiers for any upcoming tournaments in Toronto. BB is alive at the moment but right now people are playing GG
AirMaster Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 You could probably get an adapter to get your 360 controller on a PS3. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2
rei-Scarred Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 (edited) I'm living in Toronto this summer. Coming for you guys :3 Edited February 11, 2013 by rei-Scarred
