Well, I used to be all over The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and The Who. Currently I'm into Deep Purple, The Doors, Emerson Lake & Palmer, and Genesis.

A lot of the stuff I listen to wasn't too popular even back in the day, so when I ask my parents about them, they don't know anything T_T

Moving Pictures is the most solid album for sure, after that everything is hit and miss, so you're best bet would be to get a best of collection. I recommend this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spirit_of_Radio:_Greatest_Hits_1974%E2%80%931987

It has everything on it that you'd want to hear.
