Tofu Warrior Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 SSF4 is pretty balanced, yeah. Justin Wong put Gamerbee in the loser's bracket with Makoto, who is ranked dead last on the tier list. Right now, Adon is B-, but I think it's safe to say he should be a little higher.
unsanctifier Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 SSF4 is just easier to change the situation with a couple of things. I wouldn't say balanced. Good thing I already love to main that Makoto and Guy.
Linear04 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 no, its balanced in the fact that its just a huge game of counter picking
unsanctifier Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 no, its balanced in the fact that its just a huge game of counter picking I guess that is one way to look at it...

neorussell Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 If you guys missed it, this was the highlight of SB for me. The matches were great but DAMN!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UX1QtSqr6vE#t=2m10s NeoRussell
Linear04 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 lol... people still arguing about daigo and making up excuses / saying that usa bodied him....
Leo7 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 hmmm, interesting interview with Air (Canadian Ryu player living in Japan). didn't know he was coming back to Canada. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rmYPuRcDGo notice the characters that he feel are really strong in super 4.
kousaka Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 hmm i dunno.. there's alot of bias in that interview.. air lost to jwong at sbo.. you can taste some salt
Leo7 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 well, considering that that interview was held before season's beatings 5, and looking at the characters that are placing high in recent ssf4 tourneys (particularly sb5), his comments on who's strong in super seems very prescient.
kousaka Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 well other then adon.. all his other mentions were wrong.. there's no guile in top 8

Right now, Adon is B-, but I think it's safe to say he should be a little higher. This is kinda funny, because me/jabir were talking about the American commentary about "TIER LIST DOES NOT MATTER". Basically we were calling the people who thinks this idiots. People need to realize that the tier list is made up from matchups. I don't know the matchups list for SSF4, but i would imagine (seeing how st. mp beats adon's jaguar kicks or whatever they are and i didnt see anyone else in the whole tourney beat it straight out) makoto-adon matchup isnt too bad. Look what happened to jwong when he tried to pull that makoto shit on momochi. It was too free and he went straight to rog. People need to see that yes makoto is bottom. but adon is also low tier. jwong probably got salty from EVO (no rufus against gamerbee, not even once) and practiced makoto just for adon or something because st mp beats it. Seeing how americans are "i lose with my main, i counter pick with someone i have decent knowledge about" And in a game where ultras do 60% life and wakeup ultra/random ultra > japanese, lots of nonsense can happen. Dash up random ultra > backdash anyone?
Leo7 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 well other then adon.. all his other mentions were wrong.. there's no guile in top 8 2nd place was Momochi's Ken though. i wouldn't have believed Air two weeks ago if he said Ken was a top tier character in Super. but then again, it's Momochi lol. Edit: Actually, EMP. Dieminion made top 8 with Guile.
kousaka Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 i dunno imo thats not even a counter pick.. he just had no idea how to play against makoto the first time around.. in the second set adon vs makoto was still pretty free for adon edit: well it's still not like 6/8 guiles in top 8 like how vanilla sf4 was.. overall the top 8 was fairly spread... but really it's quite a big web of counter pick characters.. maybe gamerbee's adon just happened to be a good counterpick to the american metagame
Dawnbringer Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 So...new thread soon guys? You raped the 1200 posts cap pretty quickly. And I'm bored at school.
Tofu Warrior Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 *snip* I'm pretty sure this is the first time anyone's ever seen Makoto vs. Adon at top level, so it's impossible to say whether this is an even match up or not. And I totally agree with Hermes, Justin just scammed Gamerbee with a character he's never seen before. As soon as Gamerbee saw that he couldn't abuse his air Jaguar Kicks or whatever, he started zoning with st. roundhouse and raped Justin for free. But I do agree with you, match ups are more important than tier placement. In vanilla, low tier Guile beat high tier Dictator pretty easily, it's been that way since SF2. Just in this case, that doesn't apply because we don't have enough information.
Tofu Warrior Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 i think the final answer is ssf4 sucks +1
Leo7 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 edit: well it's still not like 6/8 guiles in top 8 like how vanilla sf4 was.. overall the top 8 was fairly spread... but really it's quite a big web of counter pick characters.. maybe gamerbee's adon just happened to be a good counterpick to the american metagame i still think e. honda rapes adon so i agree lol.
K2 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 counterpicking, ic but gety sf4 looked so boring...=\ since the game so balance shjould i hardcore the game?
X-Sapphire Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 It may be a shitty game but it was the most entertaining game to watch, except for GF lol.
archling Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 'cause no random scrub mashing lolol no hype from crowd.
X-Sapphire Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Because the game actually has pro players so it was fun to watch. GG was a good show too. BB on the other hand, yawn...
Tofu Warrior Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 If there's a lot of hype, SSF4 can be super entertaining. The game still sucks, but I like trolling with Hakan, his vortex/oki is actually pretty good, but it's hard to get that first knockdown.
