I'm trying to see which character I enjoy playing the most. I played Skull Girls when it came out and tbh I really didn't like it... Play Liz if you want to put in TONS of effort to learn gimmicks that the opponent can get out of by simply remaining patient and reacting properly, to 30f mixups no less. Her zoning is ASS, her pressure is ASS (outside of the corner), her mixup is ASS. her health is ASS. Her only positive points are her damage output and j.B. Kanji can literally mash DP to any of Liz's attacks in the corner and come out positive. Since Thanatos has such ridiculously high recovery times, Kanji can DP him and punish you with a super before you recover.You could OMC or risk using a shitty super, but it's overall far too much effort for no reward. Just stick with Yukiko. I actually main Yukiko now because Liz is too shitty.

I like Gatecrash, but after five+ hours of Magic, I was like "no more...please...". From a Limited perspective, I like it a lot more than RTR.

However, I will say that I know a few people that make her look absolutely broken. Some people know my matchups so well, that they make it look like it isn't in Mitsuru's favor. But to put it bluntly, 99% of the people who play her will have an unbelievably hard time getting as much out of her as you could with other characters. She's bad, unless you're just a ridiculously good player. If that's the case, then you should play Aigis instead. It would be a disservice for anyone to be that talented and not play an S tier who rewards you as much as you put in. Ted, why are you mad at the Kanji - Liz Matchup? I'm supposed to be the salty one :P

Chumaralupa Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 My step-bro played Boros at two gatecrash pre-releases now, top 8'd the first one and went 5-0 in the next, both with Boros. I hope that draft is a little more interesting than Sealed because top 4 was all Boros both times. If you wanna top 8 you pretty much gotta play Orzhov like I did or Boros, you can get kinda far with Simic but it takes too long to get things rolling. Of course you could always just pull some bombs in any color and luck it out, but that's the magic of drafting.

He wants you to be in hugging distance (yes, that close) or full screen. Everything between those in absolutely terrible. Stay that distance that all of Liz's normals happen to reach, just like mitsuru 5A range or Yu 5B range. I have no choice but to keep getting pushed back. And once I reach the corner, I've lost. Also, use excessive amounts of 2B. If Im forced to block it then you can do 2B > j.B > stuff to put me back to square one. If you ever think I'll grab on your wakeup, don't jump, use 2B instead for a free combo. Think I'll grab after a tick setup? 2B. See me batman diving like a moron? 2B. Even if I land a fatal counter j.C on you, if you used 2B then I can't combo afterwards because you technically would have been in the air. it's so frustrating. I'll always stand by my opinion that Kanji is the worst character in this game, but only if someone knows the matchup, or at least has the patience to play super lame. Against anyone else, he's kind of broken. EDIT: Also, regarding that midscreen range like with mitsuru's 5A or Yu's 5B. It's so much better for liz (In fact this applies to everything about the matchup) because I can't use DP at all. against Yu or Mitsuru I can yomi it and at least paralyze them (but still have to contend with their pokes), but since Liz's normals like 5B, j.B, and her persona attacks can't be shocked, it's awful. I'm not sure what you meant by how he recovers quickly that you can't punish the DP. Every Liz I've fought recently has destroyed me whenever I DP. I just don't do it anymore against her. Fun fact: 2B j.B whiffs on crouching unless I delay it. In both scenarios, you can just DP it to get out. Which leaves me with 2B dj away. xD

It's just to keep people outside of their comfort zone and they can't touch you while you get to be at positional advantage. So you can zone people out with Liz 5B but you probably know that already and I'm just rambling on... Anyways carry on!
