Loli Bacon Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Am I missing something? lol You'll find out soon enough. It'll either be a surprise or a worst kept secret. Or one of the other guys can tell you because I'm too lazy. You said before you were thinking of playing Nanase. Her Force Function; we're calling it float. :v
hateraid offred Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Anyone know when xrd is going to drop? We're coming up to the 4th quarter here.
LegendaryRath Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I remember hearing late-december at one point for the JP version, but it could have been a dream for all I know. Are you going to try out UNIEL, Justin? It's really easy to get into and the netcode is freaking fantastic as far as fighting games go.
hateraid offred Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Maybe, I have a lot of stuff going on in my life until around December. So, I've focused most of my attention on xrd. As soon as the dust settles from all this change I'll be hosting / going to gatherings. I'm finally getting settled at State Farm after 3 years of busting my ass.
LegendaryRath Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 That's good to hear. Gonna try to set up more stuff at UAT again soon. There's so much good shit to play right now (and so many more people playing them) that we can probably set up monthlies soon. Definitely want a place to play UNIEL, BB, P4U2, and XRD.
Chumaralupa Posted July 28, 2014 Author Posted July 28, 2014 Ok we have room 201 at UAT on August 9th for casuals, any time after 1PM. I'll bring two setups.
LegendaryRath Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 So long as I don't work that day, I shall bring a setup as well.
Rei-Inari Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I don't know about Ted, but I will be there for some UNIEL for sure.
Valthazeryus Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Anyone know when xrd is going to drop? We're coming up to the 4th quarter here. I think America and Japan are getting the same release dates around Christmas time.
Omegashrimp Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Hey Jimmy!http://youtu.be/veTEAvb_UFI?t=34s Check your facebook page periodically for more international (Japanese) birthday fun!
Valthazeryus Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I feel like I have to go check every social media thing I have ties to you with just to see what other nasty plots you are planting around.
M19Kamikaze Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 So I'm facing my first major dilemma in a fighting game (other than not playing a good character, ex. Makoto) How do I play a charge character? (Vatista) Otherwise, UNIEL is hella fun.
Orrax Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Vatista is supposed to be pretty hard for a charge character. If you haven't played a charge character before, you might be jumping into the deep end without knowing how to swim. And despite all my protestations that I would not play Gordeau, I have been messing with him lately. Most brain-dead character ever. ...Ok, maybe not ever. But possibly the most brain-dead character I've played yet, and I played Chie.
Ryd' Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 So I'm facing my first major dilemma in a fighting game (other than not playing a good character, ex. Makoto) How do I play a charge character? (Vatista) Otherwise, UNIEL is hella fun. Get used to charging everything while hitting everything else; charging a direction while holding a button or two down and inputting with the remaining button(s). She's execution heavy, and it's a pain in the ass if you aren't already used to that kind of thing. Arguably similar to playing Eddie in GG since you have to charge a negative edge for crystal placements (and know which normal (A/B/C) you're going to need back), and charging a direction (moving the shadow) while doing other things. Except you have to charge [2]/8 and [8]/2 as well.
M19Kamikaze Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Darn, and I was really looking forward to playing her too. Not saying I won't keep trying, but.. dang XD Not all is lost. I do have some characters I can fall back on. There's quite a few characters that are pretty interesting, even for just dabbling and nonsense play. Gordeau does seem like a guilty pleasure tho.
Chumaralupa Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 But possibly the most brain-dead character I've played yet, and I played Chie. Wow, that's hard to believe.

But possibly the most brain-dead character I've played yet, and I played Chie. No,he really is. He's a ranged character with throw mixups that can't be broken with 3k confirms off everything. Chie was at least difficult execution-wise (I thought).
dejixal Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 So I picked up the game. I want to play Merkava, but I know nothing about the game so far so.
Chumaralupa Posted July 29, 2014 Author Posted July 29, 2014 I found a tutorial vid for Merkava, Justin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gF2UySGZAU
Orrax Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 (edited) Wow, that's hard to believe. Chie requires thought until she either scores a knock down or gets meteors (unless she's playing against Labrys, then add getting her opponent to block to that list). Gordeau is brain-dead from frame one of the match against much of the cast. He probably requires the most thought after he gets a knock-down, kind of the opposite of Chie, because he actually has to think about whether his opponent will mash, block, or dp (I know jump is another option, but no one's been doing it against me). He can apparently do 22A oki to beat EX reversals, though. Edited July 29, 2014 by Orrax
M19Kamikaze Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 So how diverse are the character choices (main/sub) for UNIEL? Seems Gordeau is the "we don't want to buuut..." character and everyone and their grandmother is playing him.
Orrax Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I've run into a lot of Gordeau players online, but I might be the only person playing him in Arizona at the moment. I think the character choices are fairly diverse. There's a variety of rush down and zoning characters. Attack range is huge in this game, so a lot of characters can zone. Jack-of-all trades characters and mix-up characters seem less common, and mix-up in general isn't terribly strong in UNIEL. That said, there isn't a huge cast, so choices are limited, but you should probably be able to find something close to what you want.
DragonNinjaRyu Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I haven't played UNIEL yet but I'm looking forward to trying it on the 9th. What would be a recommended character when I normally play basic fundamental type characters (Ryu SF, Ragna BB, Crow Yatagarasu, etc.)
Orrax Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 I haven't played UNIEL yet but I'm looking forward to trying it on the 9th. What would be a recommended character when I normally play basic fundamental type characters (Ryu SF, Ragna BB, Crow Yatagarasu, etc.) I'd recommend starting with Hyde. He's definitely a shoto-type character (good fireball and DP), so he's similar to Ryu in that regard. He's different from Ragna though in that he relies on pressure rather than overheads -- his only overheads are his assault into a jump normal or his charged B+C attack.
