Chumaralupa Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 GG's everyone. Being able to dodge HF till grand finals in UNIEL was beneficial, I hope the odds continue to be ever in my favor. I know the guy I played Playstation All-Stars in isn't here, but now I know how that game is really supposed to be played. At least I scored one kill in 10 games lol. If we had any semblance of a scene here for that game I'd put work into it. Ryan, I know the $5 thing for SoCal wouldn't really work out well with regards to our player base (actually the SRK players for GG would be more willing to play for money) but it'd still be cool if more of them could make it out, but it's definitely rough for them to make the trip without the possibility of material gain. Dat out-of-state experience though. I mean.... Unless they wanna play for Wal Mart gift cards lol, I think I got some more credit card rewards saved up.

Kevin we still didn't get to play any DFC, but next time I will show you just how trash yo waifus is jank. Ruben, Eric, and Wang senpai. We just need to play more in general. Ryan thanks for hosting and everything again, I'll try and make it out more often to help run things.

Bearell Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 GG's yesterday everyone.  Thanks to Ryan for setting this stuff up once again and sorry I bailed on you at the end to get food, I feel bad still for not helping pack everything up.  Thanks to Darell and Luke for moving Guilty Gear along, 22 person tourneys are tough and that room started getting difficult to stay in for long periods of time.

Â I think the room number was something like that. Apparently that room is booked for every Saturday though by some board game club. The room would make things a lot nicer (2 doors so more ventilation, bigger room, and we could use the projector to show games/brackets which would make things run easier).

The only problem is that we're at an awkward spot where the room we have is too small to accommodate everyone but we don't have enough setups to warrant a second room. The other room would most likely only have 1 or maybe even 2 setups at best. I mean I wouldn't have a problem with that, but its up to the people who bring the setups if they're fine leaving it in the other room separated from most of the other stuff. And of course I also have no say on whether we can use the other room anyway, so we'll have to see if Ryan and Jimmy can do anything about it.

I planned on using it for casuals a few times, but we've never had quite enough people or setups to make it worth it. It would also make getting people where they need to be for tournament matches much more difficult, and I already wish I was comfortable using my voice more to set up matches so I could save time. Â Jimmy was already trying to talk with the people that use 207 for board games. I'll see what we can do to get that room in the future because that would be ideal. Â Thanks everyone who showed up, I had a lot of fun. Thanks everyone who moved tables before I got there, it was a huge help. I wasn't there to see who did it, so I don't know who to thank specifically Thanks Kevin for running xrd. Thanks Dippy, Luke, Justin, Kevin, Darrel, and whoever else I'm missing for helping run the stream at times. I'm glad that I can just leave it be and people will be comfortable doing things, even having fun with it. Thanks everyone who updated the brackets at ANY point or set up matches that they knew should be happening. This helps things run on time so much it's really really a bigger deal than it seems. Â Good games to everyone who played. Good shit Luke for making top 3 in every game. Good shit Byron for winning Uniel and doing well in xrd. Good shit Marvin, Koogy, and all of the guys who came down from Tucson. Good shit Ruben for getting second in Uniel. I'm not gonna lie, when Will sent me to loser's in UNIEL you had the biggest smile like as if you had won the lottery. But if that were the case I'm sure you'd rather be vacationing somewhere else then hanging out in a room full of sweaty tryhards. lol If you don't mind, if/when you get around to uploading the tourney footage to your YT channel, do you mind linking them here? YT sub boxes are glitchy so I don't always get the notifications and I'll need to nitpick at myself for future reference. Also thanks to Will for sending me to loser's in UNIEL lol Maybe we can session some at point down the road so I can re-learn the matchup. My punishment was having to be practically glued to my seat for the remainder of the tourney. Â Also I share the sentiment about the room because it was pretty difficult to be in there for extended periods of time due to the poor air circulation. Hopefully we can work something out the next time around.

I went to school with Jimmy and ran/scheduled events with him and others and know how the room situation can be....sucks the board game guys take a spot in the nice room ever month. My suggestion would be to try and get the two rooms to the side of the huge room. 205/204. That way if you needed to use both rooms the doors are next to each other and you can easily go between the room etc. Also yea.....UAT sucks at air circulation....can you imagine how having classes their felt with a large portion of the guys there didn't practice good hygiene. :D Map for reference .Â

If we have people on point with bringing setups again it'd be easy to get enough in two rooms. As for calling people for tourney well.... If you're in the tourney you should stay in the tourney room for the duration unless you get knocked out.

Now thinking about it, I kind of feel like an ass for not helping clean up. :|  Shoutouts to H-F for remembering how to play UNIEL mid-tournament and actually getting mad (at me, no less -- although I can't blame you, that stunt was foolish) and Orrax for making me look foolish in UNIEL again. I honestly thought I had that pretty free after the first three rounds, but you always have to be on the lookout for getting outplayed by Gordeau. I'm also disappointed that I never got to rub Eltnums with Ruben.  Ryd, why the hell do you want to play me so much in VF all of the sudden??? Not that I mind, but you better come correct. :p  As an aside, did someone or multiple someones ask me about renting a van to go down to SoCal? Presumably for SCR? Is that something that's needed? I would be OK with driving (because this always seems to be something that happens anyway), but I would need to know more in terms of logistics. That is, of course, if I wasn't hallucinating the whole thing in a half-asleep dream of waifus and beef hoagies.

I'll be eternally grateful  Like Jimmy said, room 206/207 is available for the 28th, so I will very likely make that the date for next month's AZ Air Assault. I'll announce the actual event sometime this week.  H-F, I'll be sure to have the tournament footage linked here as soon as I upload it all to youtube. Expect that in a few days.  Dippy, don't feel bad about not cleaning up. I'm happy to have help, but I don't want anyone to feel like they need to stay longer than they want to. I seriously don't mind doing any of the work that needs to be done. I actually kind of enjoy that sort of thing...
