Oh hey, I played that all last Saturday at my brother's house.

He took to the game more enthusiastically than I did - he's HR 49 while I'm still running around at 41. I'm so proud, he usually quickly loses patience for the twitchier games!

What HR are you at these days?

I've been doing offline mode to familiarize myself with new monsters and grinding out my gear. Still at whatever HR I was at when I last played...which can't have been too high. Working on elemental SnS sets+farming Lagiacrus for armor to see if that'll maybe make SnS feel like a pale echo of duals. If not, I'll be sad and continue along with switchaxe and lance. Can't wait for MHP3 so I can get my duals and gunlances back :<

Playing the MHP3 demo. Dual Swords are even more badass than they were before. Switch Axe has also been improved; no more worthless wild flailing.

Loss? What loss? Removing aquatic combat is the greatest thing they could do to Tri, right next to reimplementing Gunlances and Duals. Slower mobility with a poorly implemented Z-axis in an already limited-mobility game is hardly my idea of a good time =T If you were able to at least swim up/down without having to aim the camera in that direction, it'd be so much better. Unless I missed something in the manual and undersea battles that lets you do that...

You should get a PSP.

Carlos, I think you're doing it wrong. Last time I played a game with underwater controls you mash the jump button to stay afloat and dive by not pressing anything.

Ryd - You can use the shoulder buttons to ascend/descend in the default scheme, but it's still very clunky.

As for getting a PSP, I'm really tempted to. It just seems like a bit of a waste to fight great big thundering beasts on a teeny tiny screen! And I'm kinda scared of how the PSP might handle, I can hardly play the more active DS games for longer than 30 minutes at a time without my hands cramping up.

Ted - A PSX controller, eh? I like PSX controllers...

Marvin couldn't get the time off for SCR, but it sounds like one or more of his friends might still be interested in carpooling from Tucson to Mesa, and then carpooling with me from Mesa to Cali and back.

Get in touch w/Marvin if you're still interested in going to SCR, he might could get you a seat in the Tucson-Mesa carpool.

Right on, glad to hear he got something arranged.

But yeah, I *was* kinda hoping to have a social wingman or two for the ride - I have an easier time not being painfully awkward around people I don't know if I'm with someone I *do* know. And Ted in particular is amazing at killing awkward silences before anyone even has a chance to hear them.

Oh, well! Worst case scenario, I'll get to know one or two new people. And annoy them with my music.

I might be driving there with my boyfriend, actually. We have 3 spaces in the car and we'll be heading up to Phoenix so if those Tucson guys would like a ride, have them contact me, and if there's room, we can probably grab you, Dan.

You know, I distinctly remember trying the shoulder buttons and getting nothing, which led to some disgust at seemingly not having that option when there were buttons not being used; couldn't check the manual because it has apparently grown wings. I'll check again next time I feel like playing it, though that'll only solve part of the aggravation; that camera really needs to be faster.

The worst that a PSP will do to you MH-wise is force you to adopt an awkward left hand posture for manipulating the camera and moving at the same time. It's difficult at first, but kind of grows on you.

That'd be perfect! Not having to drive for 7 hours straight would be incredibly awesome.

I'll let Marvin know, he's the contact for these mysterious other guys.
